Hello everyone! my name is Joel. Firstly, thank you for taking the time to stop off here and check out my personal channel! Over the years my passion for carp angling has grown and with that so has my love of creating content geared towards the growth of catch and release carp angling. While I do love angling very much I have chosen to step away from most of the angling and enjoy what is on offer while still being out doors! I hope you will continue to follow along with me as I get uncomfortable and share with you the highs and lows of my outdoor adventures.
Again thank you for stopping by. Please feel free to subscribe to my Channel and hit the like button on any of the videos you like, this will help me see what content you enjoy, allowing me to create more to help you in your pursuits of Carp.

Hey Joel, love the channel and content! It’s amazing to see another British fella, Carp fishing out here in the US. I’m from London originally but I moved to the US IN 2016 and I’m dying to get back into my carp fishing. I feel it’s something that is missing out of my life and I always felt at home, on the bank. I would love to get in contact with you, for some advice and hopefully do a session on Dale hollow sometime. I have never been there but I’m love with the place already.
Love this Joel ! Tim and Flo
Cheers Tim and Flo! 🙌🏻
Good luck Joel mate
3.35 sounds like Joel says; whoop whoop Beryl!
Cheers Carl mate! 👊🏻
You must love those pop ups mate
😂😂😂 when they work... you have to be sure to have a large supply. Big shout out to DNA baits at the time for the bait sponsorship. It was good times! thanks for checkin out the channel and video.
@@1000MILESANDCOUNTING I love the pb wafters 👍😄
Do you live in the States ?
Yes. Thanks for stopping by.
@@1000MILESANDCOUNTING No problem , What state do you live in , I lived in Chicago for 11 years , came back to the UK in 23' , Hate it here , coming back in May 24' , Bringing my Carp gear this time , Hoping to fish Dale hollow in September , Maybe i can pick your brains a bit when i get back ..
I’ve actually stopped fishing now. Long story but… I’ll be happy to help with info if you need it. Dale is nice. But there are many waters like it all over the USA. Just have to find them. Good luck with your return to the us. Hope you get into a few good fish once back over. 👍🏻
@@1000MILESANDCOUNTING That would be great , I'll reach out to you when i get back to the US if that's OK ..
Here’s a quick comment that I hope some may find useful. In my opinion the worst baiting tool ever? The baiting spoon. When you put bait in with a baiting spoon, the spoon dumps the bait in a tight clump. Who’s in charge of your tactical approach? You or the spoon? Ha ha, no but really are you sure that that baiting pattern is the one? A tight clump here and nothing here, a tight clump here and nothing here. Making it easy for a cute fish to get away with it. Put it in by hand and you get a nice even carpet of bait- and with a lot less bait. I know there a many many different situations and for some of them the spread you get from a spoon may be perfect, but for most I think not.
Thanks for watching. 👍🏻
Absolutely stunning 😍
Well done Joel!!!❤
Keep it up!
That's the plan! Thanks for stopping by and checking it out. 🎣👍🏻🇺🇸
Nice work Joel! Headed to Pt.2 now
Awesome! Thank you! 🎣👍🏻
That looks like a epic adventure 👍💪
Love what you do man, we need more of that
Great session bro nice mirror the scales on Tony’s common looked sweet . Can’t wait for the next one 😎🍺🎣
Lovely stuff, Joel! A very productive Session.. not easy fishing either👏
Damn that looked like a lot of work. Respect
There is no question, it’s a ton of work. But just as many ask… why do it? my reply every single time “it’s part of the journey”. Sharing these sessions is for that exact reason. Some anglers send me messages, oh that looks like a good spot, oh man lots of fish, some bigger fish in the mix also, it looks easy they suggest. Hahaha if only they knew. For me personally…every second spent on that journey is exactly where I want to be. It’s like marmite - you love/live it or you hate it. 😂 Many thanks for stopping by and checking it it out. 👍🏻🙌🏻🇺🇸🎣
Control mono is the best mainline i ever used! Just wish it was available in more colors.

Lovely video! 🙏🙌🙌
Thanks for stopping by and checking out the video! Glad you enjoyed it! 👍🏻🎣
Thanks so much Joel! Really fun chatting with you. Just a quick correction re: the intro… I didn’t start carp angling when I came to the US. The part where I explain I saw my cousin fishing in 1990 or 1991 in Holland… He was fishing for carp, rod pod, boilies… That was the day my carp angling journey started 🙂
Many thanks, Dennis. it was a pleasure mate. Haha! yes after chatting, I think we both agreed, there was some confusion on that. 🫣😂😂😂 Defo Look forwards to the next time we can chat. 👊🏻 Thanks again for sharing with me and the viewers/ listeners. 👊🏻🎣
Wow 👍🏻 missed this on the nite but really enjoyed listening both Joel and Dennis chat carp ! Great job look forward to the next episode 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻☕️☕️
Glad you enjoyed it! Yes, more on the way!
What a great chat! Especially enjoyed Dennis talking about self take challenges... I totally agree, the fish comes first. Certainly have my night photo disasters, too... And efficient, strong rigs, very sharp hooks 👍
Many thanks for stopping by and giving it a listen,Tim. Many other interesting conversations on the way that I hope anglers will find helpful/ useful and interesting. 👍🏻🎣
No bending curves…just looking over your shoulder….Brilliant 👍
Thanks for stopping by and checking it out ,Ricky. Hope you enjoyed it. 👍🏻🎣
Good, solid advice, as always Joel. Will check out the Angling Iron hooks too….
Fantastic range of hooks and also other terminal items. Well worth a look at. 👍🏻🎣
Can’t wait, Joel!👏👏👏👏
Many thanks for stopping by and taking a listen, Tim. 🎣👍🏻
Always good content 👍
Much appreciated, Brian. Hope you are well. 👍🏻🎣
What boat are you using .
I use the Fox 320 boat. 🎣👍🏻
Hey man, this is fantastic , I love your videos, What's the location/name of the lake? Thanks man , I look forward for your answer
Many thanks for stopping by and checking out the video. This lake is in Connecticut, USA. 🎣👍🏻
Jey Joel , very nice man! Where is the lake?
In the USA. 🎣👍🏻
Hey Joel how long have you been states side and your location... old forest of dean boy 🇬🇧🏴🎣 carp fisherman. Been states side since 89.. great channel
Many thanks for stopping by and checking out the video and Channel! You have some years under your belt with being in the US then mate. I've been here for just over 20 years or so now. I am based in Connecticut. 👍🏻🎣
Hey Joel, what is the name of the lake/reservoir you're fishing in this video?
Enjoined it a lot, dude !!
Thanks for checking it out mate. 👍🏻🎣
Nice video Joel, lovely fish and beautiful surrounds 👍
Glad you enjoyed it! Many thanks for checking it out! It’s a mega place with unknown fish. 🎣👍🏻
Hey Joel, is this at Dale Hollow?
No, this is not Dale Hollow. But this venue offers up some great looking mirrors from time to time. Thanks for stopping by and checking out the video. 🎣👍🏻
Great video, Joel. That mid lake sandbar looks an awesome feature! Not keen on a 3 mile row loaded to get there though😮…… looking forward to part 2, seems a very interesting fishery…….
Many thanks, Tim. These BTS / Vlog videos are to be just clips of rough footage captured during each session, I plan on doing a full video, of higher quality toward the end of the season. But this fills a void for a while… 😀. Yeah, next time motor will be doing all the work. There are a few sandbars and areas scattered around the lake. These will continue to make an appearance in the coming BTS / Vlog videos. Fantastic areas that just naturally hold good fish. Fantastic venue, with plenty of space to go for it. 👍🏻🎣 many thanks for stopping by and checking out the video.
Lovely looking place that buddy! :)
Your welcome any time mate. 🎣👍🏻
@@1000MILESANDCOUNTING Oh i'd love to and i'm definately up for it! Lord knows most of my fishing these last couple of years have just been holiday trips so it'd fit into my current theme.
@@pauljones383 plenty of gear over here mate. Let me know when you heading this way. 🎣👍🏻
Epic video bro, what a place to fish!!
Thanks for stopping by and checking it out.
Are you using instant oats or old fashioned? Thanks
I use quick oats. 👍🏻🎣
Letting the spool spin in the water can create line twist - better to weigh it down with a couple of leads and the line goes on so much better
Over the years I’ve done it a number of ways and all of them actually seem to mostly be ok. Different brands defo have varied results. But depending on how the factory machines are loading the line on to the spools, from what I have personally found every one is very different. Putting a lead or few on the spool its ok, but some line will actually come off the spool better as seen in the video, while others do better being held upright, with the occasional flip over and carry on. Thanks for checking out the video and sharing your preferred method. 👍🏻🎣
Just got one not worth a 10er but is amazing just to give your hookpoint a quick clean
Defo does the job. 👍🏻🎣
Nice video. Just got a set of 9ft 3.25lb insurgents. Really pleased with them and its so much better than lugging my 12ft rods around.
Thanks for stopping by and checking out the video! Glad to hear you are enjoying the new rods. This is an old video now, but I will be reviewing the NEW Sonik Xtractor Pro rods soon as an update to this. Video will be much higher quality. Thanks again for stopping by and best of luck out on the bank with the new rods!
Just ordered two of the 9ft 2.75 test curve xtractor rods to replace my 9ft Shimano TX4's which I find are far too rigid for the smaller waters I fish here in the UK. Just interested to know how you are getting on with your 3.25lb rods? Looking forward to mine arriving in a week or so. Kinda feel like I am downgrading by purchasing rods that are about a third the price of TX 4 rods. Then again it's not about the price it's about how the rod feels and performs.
@UberDelboy666 i love them, you can chuck them further than you would think and and the play fish nice. I don't think you'll regret it. Tell me how you get on with them when you do as i'm thinking of getting some xtractor's for the lad..
@UberDelboy666 also, how much did you pay mate? Cause the you can get the insurgents proper cheap now if you look around, particularly anything under 3lb so if you're looking for that tc i dare say you could get the insurgents for just a few quid more.
How thick are the arms on the vader x landing net do you know mate no worries if you don't its just a need a new landing net but have a very old spreader block from solar that has 15mm hold for the net arms brilliant video mate
Thanks for stopping by and for your question. You may be better off looking into a new net. it can be tough looking for just net arms that fit correctly into an old spreader block. Sonic does offer some relatively cheep options. But as you know there are so many on the market it just comes down to your budget. Very best of luck on finding a new one that works for your needs.
@Joel Harber - Carp Angler thanks for responding to my comment and thank you for a honest opinion on tackle hard to come by these days I have found out that they are 15mm poles as I have also found out that nearly all landing nets on the market are all built buy the same factories no matter the tackle companies logo that on the net its all made in China and as long as I get a carbon arm landing net they all have a 15mm carbon tube obviously there is the sort that click in to the spreader block I was going to get the new esp landing net and cnc spreader block but now I did some of my own research I have come to find many thing can just be got from the Chinese manufacturer cutting out the tackle companies profits no logos but everything at a much lower price even bivvy bedchair rod pods everything its all on other apps for sale
Always honesty on this platform mate. However, not all products are created equal, and you do get what you pay for. While the China options are readily available to all, there is a clear cut reason as to why some company’s products are still going strong many many years down the line vs others that have just failed and not been up to the job for the long haul. Buying quality once is normally a way better option than buying many times over due to an item/s failing to hold up due to the build or lack of quality control. You may save a few Pennie’s initially, but in the long run you will find that you most probably will buy again at some point if not sooner than you think. Higher quality of brands such as century and solar who offer full stainless blocks and much higher quality nets and better design and in general the over all build would be the way to go if you want to buy once and have it many years down the road. Again, nothing wrong with the China options. Cheep and easy for sure… but you defo get what you pay for. 🎣👍🏻 best of luck there mate.
