Steven Nisbet is a legend. Formidable organist but he's so humble about it. So too was Cec Burr and Ivan Chester, Bob Brett and Ken Scougal. Great times at Griffith
As classy as you get! The Melbourne bloke is going places! Made me laugh as usual! ❤ from Liverpool!
God bless all guys amen
Brilliant man 😢
Interesting that Australian politics was already turning authoritarian in 1994. Covid was just an opportunity - never let a good crisis go to waste.
Wait for the wonderful monologue that Barry performs in the second half of this video. It is poetry unforgiven, and a true delight. This wonderful rendition of Barry Humphries' life gives us a history of not only his life, but of all the comedy institutions that he created. He is a true genius of acting, satire, pathos and comedy. We are blessed by his works. He is now gone, but never forgotten. Thank you Barry.
What a dull speaker can't even orate. Has to read from a script and can hardly do that. Let alone engage the audience. These stuffed shirts. Living off government grants unable to procure a real living. Barry mocks them, And rightly so. What is an occasional address...?!!! Who the hell knows. Barry you were not a doctor of letters, You are a surgeon. God rest your soul, You were a gift to us all. 11:28

Most wonderful man and actor. And the most brilliant Dame Edna.🙏💥🙏
I absolutely adore how he puts Melbourne in its place. No one else has done that in the whole nation in the way Barry did right until the end. That was 1994 but even in 2023 he put the Melbourne state government back in its place by refusing their disingenuous state Funeral offer. His family - on his orders - refused it. He was always so right about Melbournian self-righteousness and completely inane self-image. They don’t call it Melboring for nothing!
The old steak and kidney envy …are ya with me.?
@@anthonyleddin8055 not envious at all!! Humphries was from Melbrourne and his estimation speaks louder than your own projections onto me. I’ve never lived in Melboring, nor would I want to, so this isn’t about ME- but-BORING-ol-you my little Melboringer!
One word.....Genius ⭐️ I met Barry last year & how incredibly grateful I was & am ⭐️ Rip Barry & thankyou Doctor for all the Joy ❤ Very best wishes & love Faith ⭐️🍾
A diamond.
Now, sadly, that brilliant mind has left us... However, he leaves behind a treasure trove of recorded brilliance for us and future listeners, who will soon become ardent fans. RIP Barry... you will be missed.
What a gift to the world this brillant and fearless soul was.
I miss Dame Edna already , I will keep watchingKZread 😢❤❤❤
A legend amongst men - such a refined, well spoke, intelligent, cultural man - The world has truly lost a wonderful human 😔😔😔
Great post
@@paulfitzpatrick6536Never met Mr Humphries but feel I lost a good friend when the news broke he passed away - He will be sorely missed
As a fella who worked hard for my master degree and who has little time for honorary degrees.... I will take exception for this amazing fella. An Aussie legend. RIP Barry, you were clever, wise and hilariously funny and much loved
Great poem about growing up to have an amazing life!
I gave up watching at 5:11 since the moron would not go away. Thumbs down.
I'd recommend watching the whole video; it's only 18 minutes long! This is a video of the conferring of an honorary Doctorate, at Griffith University. Barry Humphries speaks after the Degree is conferred, and recites a poem, written by him, which I think is really worth 'staying the course' to watch!
Such wit! Love him/her!
Only the very faintest OZ accent.
He is awesome, so good
Oh my .. what a poem! He has a brilliant mind.
The world needs Entertainers & Barry is 4 of the best, Edna is a global superstar and while posh people are disgusted by Sir Les Edna is having lunch at Buckingham palace making The Queen wet herself she lifts people who play along and destroys people who don’t 😂
It's crokes'
Ridiculous giving these honourary titles
eloquent man..
The mortar-boarded twat who was reading out Barry's CV: the famous Spike Milligan play that Barry was in was called 'the Bed Sitting Room', not 'the Red Sitting Room.'
It’s those bloody little mynahs that I can’t stand - I get respect from magpies
Love the man - terrible poem
The poem was wonderful
I read a book of his in the 80s. It was a wonderful read.
This beautiful Christian Lady was probably one of the best Generals The Salvation Army have had in recent years. She was of a calibre not seen since and especially recently. Lovely video.
His speech was very moving. He meant every word. 🧡🌿
Also, wow. Friends with the great Spike Milligan.
that grovelling little bastard . . .
Gosh . How nervous he seemed!
i am sure a little of Spike Milligan's brilliance rubbed off on many of todays brilliant comedians ,Spike taught us that a little insanity is wonderful
It’s the same old, employed comedy needed by any University, this speak’ is for the graduates and parents. Actor’ness. Wake up folks. It is the way, given to famous people, but some are deserved.....
Magpies started to breed in Milton Keynes, United Kingdom one summer. Before long they dominated the entire area and had wiped out other birds, such as Thrush, Blackbirds and Starlings. Whilst watching them I noticed evidence of uncanny intelligence and social structure. Local areas formed into social packs with one leader. The leader would call to the pack each morning. sometimes packs would war on other packs to increase their territory. The most disturbing thing I ever witnessed was a large magpie standing over a starling at the edge of the road. The magpie had the starling on it's back in the way of traffic holding it there so it would be run over. I wish I could have videod it.
hilarious how this was recommended to me out of nowhere
This is pretty good tbh 😅
Um..thanks for this..I guess..
Adorable little Mite! He is!!
Absolutely brilliant
A sneering crank.
Why come on here to talk about yourself?
@@tiggero6690 He saw Australia as it was and, as far as I know, still is. Stiflingly conformist.
She was like the pope, but for the Army.....I love watching. Incredible......
He is scathing and a lot of it went right over the heads of the presenters, and most of the audience. His hat doffing is hilarious. I lived in Australia from the end of '63 to the end of '68 and he nailed it.
5 years?……..an expert.
So disappointed Dame Edna has never moderated the U.S. Presidential Debates. She'd be perfect!
I had the pleasure of taking this gentleman from his hotel in Sydney to an engagement at Rushcutter's Bay he was always colourful in his dress to say the least - Thoroughly polite through out the journey - He was one of many Australian personalities I got to briefly meet while driving the taxi's in Sydney He is and will always remain one of our greatest living treasures
Doesn't bloody well start until eight minutes in!
shame about the intro guy....garbage read...
