I got hooked on Big Band/Glenn Miller in JR High School in the '60s we played some of his music and I did play the trombone. The local AF Base even had a band and played Millers music on there Saturday night radio programs live.

Caruso sings to the soul. His voice reaches all with its pathos and underlying sweetness. In my opinion he’s one of the greatest operasingers. I grew up in an Italian immigrant family listening to Caruso. Lucky me!

I haven’t heard this rendition in years. Every syllable is sung with full attention and lovingly. Thank you for posting this. Our family had a collection of Enrico’s 45 RPM records. No idea what happened to them as I could not assist my brothers in finalizing their residence when my mother had to go to assisted living, only four years after my fathers death

Well, Nikolai Gedda could certainly hold a note longer, but tied with Caruso must be Jussi Bjorling who had the sweet voice. From Caruso voice alone I hear also a great actor.

I was lucky enough to be raised with a lot of different singers and genres from before my time. I was a 75 child. And Mario lanza was someone that I heard on records and loved. This song was the ultimate in romantic love for me as a young girl. I still love a lot of his songs.

Good morning. I am thankful for all the positive comments. I had my thoughts but some of you ( I have given like to comments I liked 😇) already said what I wanted to say. I heard this aria in Callas's voice for the first time and that means you will hear her echo in other singers interpretation and you will return to her rendertion for satisfaction again and again.
