    If in 2018 you made $59,000 in commissions, what was your total in sales that year? And same question for 2019 at $46,000 in commissions what was your total in sales that year?

    Thank you for the information. This video was made before the pandemic, how have things evolved since then? I am seriously thinking about taking the training to become a travel agent as a replacement carreer. The work I do now involves a lot of physical labour and at some point it will be hard to do as I get closer to 60 years old. I just subscribed and will look at your other videos but informations about maybe step by step suggestions on where to start would be great.

    Dear Sisi, I liked your video very much. It was very informative and realistic. So, I'd like to ask you a bold question: I applied for a job as a travel agent, and they invited me to an online meeting. It was very suggestive, showing all the possibilities of this job, especially the perks of being a travel agent. At the end of the video, they made an offer: we should pay 80 dollars monthly to receive training and get our travel agent license. They would charge 18% of all commissions but didn't give us any guarantee that we would work for them. It wasn't clear if we should start from nothing our travel agency or would work for them. Now the question: is it a real job, or is it just a way for them to make money by charging fees and not ensuring any results?

    a. Were you working full time 2016-2019? b. What is the most profitable travel market niche for agents? c. At least initially I would like to work under a host agency, specializing in "Cruise Vacation Sales". d. I would like working from home (Houston, TX), am prepared to invest in acquiring tools and training etc. without grand expectations. I also have native level proficiency in English and experience in big ticket sales Please help me connect with host agencies and specialty training programs.

  • @sisitravels
    @sisitravels Жыл бұрын

    a. Yes b. I can not speak for all advisors, but my most profitable areas are All Inclusive vacations and FIT travel (building custom travel packages for my clients and charging a flat service fee). The least profitable areas are ocean cruises (again, not speaking for all Travel Advisors), but river cruises and guided vacations can be very profitable (it is just not my niche). c. see above d. My best suggestion would be to look at hostagencyreviews.com/ to find the perfect agency for you. They have great resources.

    Hello what's the best way to get certification to become a travel agent? What is the best company to choose and is there a fee required to become an agent?

  • @sisitravels
    @sisitravels Жыл бұрын

    Hi Toni, To answer your question directly, there is no specific certification needed to become a travel advisor with a host agency. However, if you are looking to own a Travel Agency with certifications, I recommend IATA or CLIA certifications depending on the type of travel you will be booking. It is common for Travel Advisors to start with a host agency first for a few years before venturing to create a business and get these certifications. My best suggestion to get started as a Travel Advisor is to sign up with a host agency and get experience to see if this a career you are looking to build. Experience in 2 areas: - 1. Experience in traveling: You must visit the destinations and experience the products you are selling to your clients - 2. Customer service experience and knowledge in the types of travel packages you sell (There is a lot to do on the back end. We sometimes go lengths for clients by staying on top of emails, making connections with their resort, quickly contacting airlines if needed, and knowing all policies and procedures of the company they are booked with).

  • @sisitravels

    Hey Edward, Yes! Typically the flights from the US have a connection to get to Central America unless you are departing from a major airline hub like Houston, Dallas, Atlanta, etc. If you have a connection, the average total flight time is about 7 hours and you usually arrive in Costa Rica in the early afternoon.The flight times could be a little shorter or longer depending on your departing city. I am used to this, because it takes about 7 hours for me to fly anywhere in the Caribbean and Central America regions from my home city, so this is standard. Once you arrive in Costa Rica, you will take a 3 hour transfer from the Costa Rica SJO airport to the Manuel Antonio area. The transfer is what makes it feel like a long travel day because you arrive at dark or just before dark in Manuel Antonio. Some drivers are very accommodating though, making stops on the way at Crocodile Bridge and Jaco for sunset. This made the transfer time slightly longer but also made the transfer seem more like a private tour on the way to Manuel Antonio :)
