    LOL. There certainly were no sugar cubes or corn used. These things were in peak rut and we're hunting in oil fields so they are less skittish about seeing humans. It's rare to be able to get this close but was cool.

    44 mag with the extra velocity from a longer rifle barrel is a pretty stout round, not surprised to see it drop like that. With the right ammo you start to get close to the lower end of the 45-70 spectrum. It seems the Antelope were huddled together in some sort of assisted suicide pact as they made no effort to be alert to potential danger, every one I've even been remotely near, are far more skittish. Good hunting and a clean kill.

    what do you think about a hot 44 mag round in a 44 lever gun for brown bear defense

  • @fiveowaf454
    @fiveowaf454 Жыл бұрын

    @@dylankorpi137 While I'd reach for my 45-70, out of choice, for brown bear defense, there's no doubt that some of the hot 44 mag loads, out of a rifle barrel are up in the territory to be effective. Many rely on a 44 mag revolver for bear defense and the lever action rifle in the same chambering is a step up from that in terms of power.

    Lol ya i was pushing my luck with them. the camera angle is pretty misleading as the guy running the camera was holding a tripod by the bottom of the legs up in the air in fact by the time i took the shot it was likely 10' in the air as you can see him lift it last min. Humans are designed in every way to be a super predator. We live a lifestyle of conservation improving habitat studying our prey and hunting it. Finally harvesting the animal and utilizing it to its fullest. Given the small amount of natural predation these animals large freeze and starve to death.

    Unfortunate first shot smoked em with the follow up. Don’t listen to those talking smack about the ability of the 708 it’s a great cartridge for deer and antelope size game. Not sure if you were using Nosler ballistic tips or not but again a 140 grain hunting ballistic tip out of the 708 with some imr 4350 is all you will ever need

    You gotta love the keyboard hunters on KZread. Learn what a good shot looks like in the real world people. Overly edited "production quality hunts" often edit hunts to look much more quick and clean. This was an extremely quick and clean harvesting. to see it as otherwise is to out yourself as ignorant.

    rugerfan08 After reading the comments about this hunt would you change when the first shot happened or would you have done the same thing? We all get caught up in the moment when out hunting and sometimes we make a decision that isn’t in the better odds side of things. Myself who has hunted antelope and has been hunting for 27 ish years would not have taken the first shot. Even if the animal had no grass in front of it I don’t think I would have shot. By the video there was lots of time with this animal that one could have waited for a better first shot when it would have stood up. Yes with the follow up shot it was a quick dispatch of the antelope. Congratulations on the antelope it was a dandy one. You said it was a 145 grain bullet but I never saw what type of bullet it was?

    @@blaynemacpherson8519 I wasn't the hunter here simply filming for an awesome nearly 80 year old hunter. Its obviously unfortunate with the camera angle that people get the perspective of it having been a bad shot but it wasn't in the least. Is a bedded shot typically a lower percentage shot? Surely. In this case an extremely experienced hunter made the decision to take the shot made a great hit on a tough animal followed it up with a 2nd shot to be ethical. I can't fault him for that.

    Hilarious. Typed from your mom's basement. What is not hunting about this? Ever snuck up on an antelope without a waterhole to within 40 yards? I'm guessing no. Thanks for outing yourself with such an ignorant comment. If you wanted to make the case for lazy that would be understandable at 300+ yard shots from a truck but this isn't that this is a spot and stalk on one of the most skittish prairie animals alive. Good job at literally making the stupidest comment i have ever received on my channel.

    Bill Peirce lol. Spoken like a true basement expert. Bill try getting out of your mom's basement and do some hunting yourself perhaps you'll get what's known as a clue. This was a 250-300 yard shot is 40mph cross winds. Antelope are built like tanks with lungs well in excess of any other north American mammal by volume. Even great hits dont always drop them in their tracks.
