This song instantly makes me sob and I don’t know why haha 😅❤ much love to the revolutionaries, the Chicanos, the Brown Berets, Raza Unida, the subjugated and systematically disenfranchised ❤️🩹

I grew up as a migrant farm worker that worked in many states. We were based out of South Dade Labor Camp in Homestead Florida. My mother was an activist and worked to unite farm workers in Florida's Labor Camps. There were many many labor camps back in the 60's and 70's. I was incredibly proud of her when i was a kid and even more so as an adult. But looking back now that she is gone and remembering the stories and after reading some of the materials of the United Farm Workers she had that I turned over to one of her friends after she passed away I feel this song hits me even harder now than it did at any point throughout my life. I would always play this for her when I was able to be with her on different occasions and it always made her tear up and I would tear up and we would think back to how hard things were and how some things have changed and how they haven't. This song makes me proud and sad.

I know this is a really old comment to be replying to. But given the times we're in, I was listening to this song to help remind me that people like your mom are still out here fighting every day for us ordinary folks. Despite the gains that unions have made recently, there has never been a more dangerous time for unions than right now. All of the work of generations of workers (and heroes like your mother) will be destroyed if the republicans gain more power in the US.

Que Viva Cesar Chavez!!!!! He sang this song because he was a Cursillista (www.cursillo.org/). He truly lived his mission on this earth to teach us the way! Let us continue to celebrate his legacy of courage and boldness thru our service -each in our own designated field but UNITED- TOGETHER, WE ARE STRONGER!
