우리 옛시대는 환국, 배달국 고조선시대로 올라가면 단군이 하늘에 제사를 지냈음. 일제시대때 이 역사를 설화로 만들어 많은 한국인들이 설화로 생각함. 이후에 왕대신 무당이 대신 기도를 함. 우리나라는 예부터 영이 뛰어난 나라임. 모든 국민들이 태몽을 꾸고 예지몽을 꾸는 사람도 있음. 산 또한 영이 있어서 영험하다 애기함.

크리스쳔만이 크리스마스를 향유하는게 아니듯, 믿음이 있었다는 식으로 믿음을 향유한다는 맥락이 퍽 인상적이네요. 부정으로 토속신앙의 언질을 시작한다는 점(새로운 종교가 땅에 내려오며 박해의 시간을 지나 고인돌을 걷어내고 주춧돌이 되면서 역사적인 사실로 남아있는 민간신앙을 뿌리부터 걷어낸 점은 개인적으로 참 아쉽습니다 증말)과 믿지 않아도 믿음을 전승할수 있다는 역사전달자의 처신, 그것도 다른 땅에서 넘어온 분이 말이죠. 여러모로 인상적인 인터뷰, 멋진 영상에 감사의 인사를 올립니다(_ _)

솔직히 외국인 입장에선 솟대 보고 목욕할 때 쓰는 러버덕 생각날 것 같아요 ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

i'm pretty impressed by this kind of inqusitiveness of western people. the way of thinking looks somewhat different from asian(at least korean). at least as far as i am concerned, it seems like koreans don't dig in some type of theme that much like him if money is not related. I am pretty convinced there are not many koreans who are interested in folklore like him. I reckon this way of thinking related to discovery of modern science by western culture. I sincerely respect to their intellectual curiosity
and look at Bart. he is digging in more than 400 regions of seoul, which none of koreans has not even thought about until he started.thanks very much Bart. go for it, your recording is gonna meaningful later on.

민속신앙은 과거 유학자들도 괴력난신이라고 비판한 적이 많습니다. 사실 한국에서 뿌리를 더 깊게 내리기는 무리가 좀 있죠. 급속한 경제개발만이 원인이라고는 생각이 들지 않네요

I always thought bogman from Ireland had something to do with shamanism close to Korean Shamanism. One of the bogman in particular had this appearance of artificial cranial deformation, a physical characteristics of a shaman political leader, which later developed into 상투, the hair bun in the middle of head crown in Korea. Bogmen are clearly human sacrifices killed in ritualistic manner for some unknown shamanistic purposes. Ancient Korean royal tombs shows some evidence of ritual killings. Koreans who once were northern steppe nomads with strong traditions of Tengrism branched off into agricultural life styles early on, transitioned into forming tribal shamanism and adopted so many different kinds of ancient religions like Buddhism, Taoism, and Confucianism along the way. It is amazing how fragments of each remained in fossilized format and somehow intertwined, making it immensely expandable. Like for example, Gojoseon's capital called 'Asadal' has such striking resemblance to Astana of Kazakhstan with hints of Tengrism in that folklore everywhere. Korean shilla gold crown is amazingly similar to Kushan crown(Bactrian Gold). Goguryeo 's symbol of three legged crow appears in Japanese arts as well. Korean folk traditions of 고시레, small offerings to land, mountain gods, is found in Native American traditions so on and so forth. Anyways, it's great to find another person who's delving into this mystery. It's always a joy to uncover a new one.
What you called Shinmok could be also called 사당나무 or just 당나무(Dang namu), usually a very old and beautiful tree at the entrance of a town/village. Sometimes it might have five color ribbons attached to clearly demarcate. It is believed to protect the village and embodies a spirit of Sanshin (mountain gods).
@@seseh7068 Yes, indeed! They may also be referred to as yeong-mok (영목/靈木). Wonderful stuff. If you've not read the work of Chun Young-woo about trees, especially pines, I highly recommend it.
