@@ReflectedRed glad u liked it!
I am so disappointed that these cameras have those 'dongles'. I am happy I learned here, and not by buying one first. That has been one thing that I have loved about the Unifi Protect cams versus Hikvision, Reolink, Lorex, etc. It's unfortunate they are going in this direction... hopefully it is not widespread & domes/bullets are safe...?
This is the normal format for Turrets.
Some feedback... it is always good to define more obscure terms. Stacking of NVR's (in UniFi terminology) is the use of two of the same model NVR devices to provide storage for one Protect deployment. Also, the jerking around of the mouse pointer is very distracting.
@@bryandulock5286 good point, thanks for the constructive feedback
As a small MSP, who is more or less Unifi only across all clients for the past 8 yrs. The Unifi site manager is very useful. That said it is not perfect, no issues with Network, but Protect has caused more than a few headaches.
@@DozIT yeah, the rapid development, and channel distribution are very welcome!!!

Autotracking is a lot better on the G4 ptz compared to the G5 PTZ sadly
The features put it head-to-head against Cisco Meraki MX400.
Better pricing than MSRP would be great, but we've sold hundreds of thousands of $$ of Unifi/AirMax equipment and I've never had a problem marking up Ubiquiti equipment. If anyone ever challenged it, I'd tell them I take it out of the box, upgrade OS, services and test for issues and I handle the warranty.

Whats the total height measured from the wall to the tip of the camera?
is there a way to have a secondary nvr for replication offsite or a way to do remote backup to any other source automatically?
Will it be FIPS compliant?
This is a very very interesting move ... and the timing ... I have a bunch of Sophos Firewalls going EOL, several of them larger deployments with Sophos RED devices at remote sites. I have already put Cloud Keys, Unifi Switches, AP's and Camera at some of these sites over the years. To move from an SG230 to a new XGS 2300 is around AUD$5000 for hardware only. You then need to pay another AUD $3600 per year (and every year thereafter) for Sophos Standard Protection licensing for it, or AUD$5300 per year (and every year thereafter) if you need Sophos Xtreme Protection licensing. This will still only give you 9x 1Gbe ports +2 1Gbe SFP (so no 2.5 or 10Gbe ports at all!) and only 1.5Gbp throughput with DPI/Threat Protection on. Coming in at US$1999, which the importers here will no doubt jack up to at least $3000-$3500 minimum - even then, I can still get this new EFG cheaper and with no ongoing licensing costs AND have all those much fatter/bigger pipes running into it and better IDS/IPS throughput plus a MUCH better dashboard and reporting. I could even fork out for that extra monthly licence from Ubiquiti at only $75 a month and still be thousands of dollars a year better off. Hell, at these prices I could buy TWO and run them in HA and STILL save money! I was already getting quotes for the XGS2300 and planning my upgrades and this has thrown a huge curveball my way. I'll watch this space very carefully over the next 2-3 months to see how early adopters go out 'in the wild' before making the call. But with every new video I see on the EFG I am struggling to see why I would bother with the XGS 2300 upgrade and the RED devices I already have ... not unless Sophos massively drop their prices, and I can't see that happening. Will just need to work out what router to put out onsite ... like the UXG-Max (I already run one myself at home) and start looking at the best way of connecting these sites with straight Ubiquiti gear ;)
Its a step in the right direction, there is still a steep curve they will have to climb to meet the level of some of the other products in the same segment
@@JimtheITguy I 100% agree!
Once you see Lawrence from Lawrence systems get the tick of approval Unifi is in business for the Enterprise market.

I remember shooting it when I was younger. Loved it.
Breaking SSL this way is already out of vogue- certificate pinning and other changes will make it break things (as it should) Moreover putting all your endpoint trust in your edge router seems like a bad plan.

Clay, not being rude but you are pretty new to the UBNT games and that was very clear with your opening statements and questions. UBNT have claimed to be Enterprise for decades yet fell well short soooooooooo many times, we can't count. Same with the ISP sector, make loads of products, infact, too many. The issue with this space, too many options and too cheap allowing every DIY fool to throw it around and polute the spectrums. UBNT are going down path of trying to make stuff and force the need for accreditations and block out those like me who have been doing this long enough that we leave most of these paper-credentials in the bin. I did notice a huge thing on their latest video on this unit, commenting was turned off. Likely because most of the claimed features are already in the Crappy enterprise theme called "Dream-Machine" $75.00 USD per month for features free elswhere amd what WE WERE SUPPOSED TO HAVE ON CURRENT GEAR..... Lost interest here, writing on wall, pay-for-features now here on UniFi
@@bentheguru4986 you must be new to the channel, I have been the biggest critic. I have been using Ubiqiti products for a decade now and am all too familiar with what you are talking about. But.. their development and releases over the last few years are just different. The EFG is equivalent to a $10kplus from the competition. They offer a free option which nobody does for this level of thruput with IPs/IDS and NextAI features.. the value is just crazy here.. I will be super critical when it is due but I just don't see how anyone could be upset at this piece of equipment or their new distribution model..
@@DPCTechnology Been following you for a year or two now... LOL Yes, I see a shiny box that carries a hefty fee. Do you know what that same money can buy though, a network appliance to run say pfSense /OPNsense who we all are aware are doing some pretty stuff these days and considering where UBNT leach their detection databases from same sources, bit hard to swallow. Yeah, I know, eco-system but when you have Alta Labs coming up in the background with better pricing and less of the frivelous BS products and focusing on WAP's, Switching, HW Controller and coming gateway that is likely OPNsense based, yeah, will be interesting. I am sure you understand the old rule with UBNT, take 50% off the claimed figures and work with that.
You're balking at one enhanced feature being a paid service, when vendors like SonicWall literally charge you for everything you want to use it for. Watchguard charges a support subscription just to continue getting firmware updates FFS. Who are these companies in this performance segment you claim are giving away the goodies for free?
@@MitchellEarl Did I state I use or support over-priced items like what you are stuck on? Nope. What I am saying is UBNT have a cheek to expect to charge premiums for things they have been claiming and promising for not just years, DECADES. We currently have whole lines of "Enterprise" with stupid naming ideas like "Dream" that claim to do loads of things including IPS/IDS which they have just stated is slow and limited unless you signup for this new "Gateway" (which has a controller in it by the way) to get "Full" and "Fast" access to detections and rules. Just blew out the point of their whole previous UniFi security platforms for anything more than home use. Next feature they will be selling is "CloudStrike" premium....... Maybe when end users who get screwed over by being attacked behind this premium service or better still, those who loose lost income and and time when UBNT bring out more broken features and firmwares decide to sue UBNT that they will finally become Enterprise....
As long as it has no coding, at least over the bus protocol, it is a security weakness. Someone can simply disassemble it, connect two cables, and boom, the door is open. Some sort of keypad or at least some form of coding would be more secure 🤷🏻♀️
Its unfortunate no dps input
Our current Sophos Firewall is nearly EOL. We are looking to purchase this new Unifi EFG for our company. What gateway/cloud key would you recommend to pair with it for the other Unifi services, like Unifi Talk, Protect, and Access?

So I'm a little confused now with the electric lock option. We have a metal frame glass door out front that doesn't have a latch (like the little thingy that you'd turn a door knob to unhook the door from the plate/frame to open it). It's just a handle and you pull or push to open the door, and it has a lock that latches when we close up for the day. We want to do an electric lock but not sure if that would work in our door situation. Would the electric lock make the lock itself turn to lock/unlock as we push the Exit button (or swipe to enter), if that makes sense..? Or would we have to use the magnetic lock option since there's no door latch thingy?
@@dw-dj1ii it needs an electric mag lock
How well does the Next AI work with web browsing for end users? Things such as going to your banking websites and stuff like that? Many use tech that makes their websites break on any PC that is going through an SSL inspection like this as a security measure to prevent unauthorized MITM attacks. The website cant distinguish between a legitimate network security function for this and being hit by a MITM attack. Im guessing this is exactly the same where you have to put exceptions in to get to certain sites, and doesnt use some new piece of tech that somehow lets everything still work perfectly even with SSL Inspection in use.
I didn't notice any. I did test 2 banking sites. But to be fair, this needs to be tested in a production environment. No KZreadr can properly push this type of device. I know Ubiqiti has had them in real production environments, see their FedEx Arena video.
There is only one valid use for ssl certificate hijacking and this absolutely isn't it. Unless you are a developer intercepting your own local machine traffic for testing this kind of certificate hijacking should be seen as an immediate red flag. YOU SHOULD NOT BE BREAKING SSL AS A NETWORK ADMINISTRATOR!
didnt i see this vid the day before? deja vu.

Yea we use Sonicwall at work and with over 7000+ devices deployed and 1300+ sites in site manger it nice to see a new firewall come out that we can possibly use and be a little easier for techs on the service desk to use. I tend to get the Unifi tickets at work so will be nice to get some of them of my plate back down to 2nd line xD Much prefer the Unifi software but until this we rarely did Unifi firewalls out there that and the recent NAT features really help
I'm in a Sophos shop that also has to support SonicWall and WatchGuard (and pfsense), but I am a Fortigate expert bu trade and choice and I must say that this is what I was waiting for Unifi for me to actually want to move my own stuff over. As you said, the recurring prices is what is killing most of the small and medium companies - and just myself with my Fortinet Stack that I've build 4 years ago is now unsustainable price-wise if I want to remain with all the protection features. Great video! +1 and subbed.
