  Well, yeah you got 48 missiles for 17 planes but just consider every one of these 17 planes can carry at least 4 anti ship missiles. In a war scenario you have to fight off those massive number of missiles AND planes, so it would not be that easy. In my opinion, in a swarm attack, EVERY modern war ship can at least be heavily damaged.

  Awesome from across the ditch👍... HMAS Melbourne visited NZ in the late 70's. We brought the RAN Skyhawks to complement our RNZAF and they ended up with Draken International also Paremata is here to (different lingo).. thanks mate👍🇳🇿

  We were operating within helo distance of Japan as the ship was preparing for deployment (can't recall if this was deck cert or CQ) and the strike group commander flew out during a brief window of suitable weather. In order for the ship to operate safely, it had steered directly into the waves. However, the wind was coming from behind the ship. Normally, aircraft fly into the wind to land safely. So, in this case, the helo approached over the bow and set down where you see it facing aft. It was quickly tied down and the personnel went below using the nearest catwalk. I watched the approach and landing from the flag bridge. The video was shot by a colleague and friend. The wave caused damage in the foc'sle and to several catwalks forward. The impact concussion was felt throughout the ship.
