    I'm gonna try to make a video on this sometime in the future. It's been sitting in our shed for quite some time now and will need to be gone through. I'd like to get it running here soon and hopefully answer some of the questions you guys have been asking!

  • @TractorPrepper

    Fuel tank is in the back under the seat where the battery usually is. It was relocated the under the hood where they were on older cubs

    What is a 454 for factory? Is there any way I can get a picture of the factory emission sticker if it’s a 454? I really need it to follow the diagram to restore it back to factory . Thank you

    MinnesotaCadet your good man. Just bought one like it!. Was worried they are very powerful. What’s your experience with em?

  • @TractorPrepper
    @TractorPrepper4 жыл бұрын

    @@mmoplayerful1They're pretty powerful. But the bottoms are pretty flat and they dont cut through waves as well as modern ones. But you can do spinsouts and whatnot that you cant do on newer ones. They're pretty fun.

    A bit of the frame had to be grinded away. But otherwise no major changes.

    Those brass screws for the choke plate are a royal pain. I ended up grinding them off the last time I had to swap out a choke shaft. And the heads strip pretty easily if you're not careful with the screwdriver.

  • @TractorPrepper
    @TractorPrepper8 жыл бұрын

    Yeah as you can see. I bought a starter reduction gear but it was the wrong size and I cannot find a correct style one that would fit so I'm S.O.L unless I can find one. Until then I'm using the kickstarter I guess.

    I've wanted a 250sx for a while and I finally found one. I intend on keeping it a while. I ordered a 6pack holder style grab bar for it and I have a minimate that fits it perfect. Some other misc stuff too. Too much to list.

    I would like to see and know more on this tractor and how it was repowered

  • @TractorPrepper
    @TractorPrepper8 жыл бұрын

    +Steve Winter I didn't repower it myself. An unknown man repowered it many years ago and abandoned the project. He then sold it to a Cub guy that wanted to work on it but never got the chance. He then sold it to me and it got it going and I plan to finish the project. I Can take more up-close pictures and videos if needed.

  • @MichaelTJD60
    @MichaelTJD609 жыл бұрын

    You should have put the 318 in front since it has another cylinder and more power to cut through the grass the first time around, then use the Cub behind it to finish up.

  • @TractorPrepper
    @TractorPrepper9 жыл бұрын

    The 1250 cut better than the 318 anyway. The deck on the 1250 is deep and has more suction while the one on the 318 has a more shallow deck and has less vacuum.

  • @MichaelTJD60
    @MichaelTJD609 жыл бұрын

    TractorPrepper Ah, good point. The 46" JD deck doesn't have a very good cut to begin with, I have two of them. The 50" deck available for the 318 is a deep deck though and does have a very good cut, as good as the deck on the Cub.

  • @TractorPrepper
    @TractorPrepper9 жыл бұрын

    MichaelTJD60 I have since parted out this 1250 since this video. It was far gone and was on its last leg i have since put the engine in a 1450 frame and the transmission in a 1650. I have put the deck from this video on the 1650 and it cuts even better than on the 1250. I would really like to get a john deere. Something like a 140, 318, 317, Something along those lines I don't know much about John Deere GTs. Mostly IH Cubs.

  • @MichaelTJD60
    @MichaelTJD609 жыл бұрын

    Those old Cubs are good machines. Just like the old Deere's. Can't speak for the new JD's and Cubs though lol. A JD 318 is a great machine, I grew up on one and now I have my own 210. Very reliable machines, they can take a beating and the Kohler and Onan motors have a lot of power with the hydro trans and lift. Some have power steering and there are tons of attachments available.
