"A play of good and evil on another plane." Amazing description of what the black lodge is. The abstractions of good and evil. Of reality.

I learned about Twin Peaks after I've heard Twin Peaks is his biggest inspiration. Mr. Robot was my favourite show of all time then. Now Twin Peaks (the whole series, including the film and the Return) is number one but Mr. Robot is still a very close second! These two shows are so good that I can't find a 3rd to put in with them.

I love how you end the intro with, "if you want to finally understand what's going on right now, take a listen" I say almost the same thing to everyone I know that I send Curtis' most recent series to. Crazy.

How is this even real?! 2 of my favorite people that i would never have ever thought in a billion years would talk let alone put something online. My head hurts this is almost unreal. (i should say i use to love tim, for over a decade his work was my favorite but recently he's lost his mind and i just can't believe this has happened lol)

I think if you're going to upload an important interview like this you should really make it very clear WHEN it was done, namely March 23rd, 2017 (according to the Talkhouse website). Things have changed quite a bit since then I think and especially with the upcoming US election at hand, and the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the genocide in Gaza, and the surge of right wing politics in Europe... I'm very curious what Adam Curtis has to say regarding more recent developments in world politics, and not so much what he as saying in 2017..

Yes, this episode is from 2017. Unfortunately, KZread's podcast integration has not allowed us to backdate publish times on KZread. All other podcast platforms and the Talkhouse website have the correct publish date. Sorry for any confusion this caused.

Its not just this podcast at all, but what is going on. Everyone sounds like a Valley Girl, like that was 1984 or something. 40 years later we havent moved beyond that. And I swear its not even people consciously doing it, its like IN the microphones. IM not talking about the guests. Dont get me wrong.

massive thanks - appreciate the intro - lots to digest. Adam Curtis goes full Adam Curtis and I love the total lack of any character. There's no change going from ʜʏᴘᴇʀɴᴏʀᴍᴀʟɪᴢᴀᴛɪᴏɴ narration to this clip, and he's simply speaking his mind honestly kinda scientifically in a way. Adam has a lot of patience and respect for bias and honestly I think Americans like hearing people with UK accents confirming that Americans, Brits, Chinese, and the others are simply 'winging it' , over and over, in progressively flashier ways, but also that ultimately everybody does nothing very efficiently. His perspective is always in the distance and I think he truly fufills his role as the alien tourist who just wants watch humans understand crucial ideas. There aren't many people with enough emotional maturity and self awareness to keep their head down and actually walk to their destination. I liken Adam to Burial , Banksy, Richard D James, Kaufman, Kubrick, ReviewBrah ... or the strabger who shows you a trick to get extra stuff in a vending machine. But not because of some sketchy motive or angle- just to watch another human being realize that reality isn''t just a systematic shuffle to the grave, you just have to poke around and assume nothing. basically like a child or sausagedog.

I was like 9 when my family rented this movie. In the scene where Dreyfuss tries to drum up the girl's confidence and asks her what she likes most about herself before she could answer I called out, "her hair". Of course that's what she says and all the adults in the room are shocked, thinking I've seen it before. I'm now 32 watching satrical essay about what I knew at 9 years old

I live in Colombia and I know is something very difficult to fulfilled but as I saw in the movie” Saint Raphael”….. miracles can happen. I hope that someday you see this message, and if possible to receive a message from you it would be great and a half 😊. Wanting and wishing the best for you always no matter what. You seem as a being of good heart and that’s the most important thing. The best for you Tamara, always !!! A sincere hug.
