I just want to say thank you for making this video. I have four children but my fourth baby is the first that I’ve decided to cloth diaper. I am also addicted!😅 I started with pocket diapers now I’m using fitted, and I’m currently waiting for Amazon to deliver my pack of prefolds. My daughter turned into a heavy weather overnight. five layer bamboo inserts were working fine. But now she’s soaking through them in 45 to 60 minutes. Just praying the size I ordered will fit her for a while. If not oh well they aren’t that expensive. I will still be able to use them as inserts. Oh yeah also waiting on Awj to arrive from Alva baby. Oh and covers are coming from twisted mystic tushies tomorrow… yes, I started cloth to save money but now I just want to try every system there is.

As much as I love to support small businesses and caring customer service, I was hoping to hear favorite wool covers based on performance, not owners' personalities. I do factor personnel in, and appreciate your testimony to Stephanie and Dawn/Don, but I maybe would've wanted that info in a different video.

*I suppose you DID say favorite brand, not favorite covers, so perhaps owners' personalities is simply what matters to you most. I love great business teams - perhaps explaining why they're "amazing" would be even more helpful! Was it because they are easy to contact, have great return policies, respond to queries quickly? Or are they just your friends who you're stoked to support?

Hi I've purchased those diapers and I've problems of leakage. I read that I should wash them at least 10 times till the inserts get really absorbent. I haven't still washed them 10 times, probably around 5 times so maybe that's the issue i'll see with time but I am wondering maybe I am not adjusting the diaper well on my baby?? Help please 😅

Looking for honest reviews of smart bottoms overnight trainers. My son (3) pees the bed every few days and I don't want to buy disposable anymore!! My 1yr girl is in smart bottoms all in ones during the day and disposable at night.

Where can you buy the bebeboo one in the US? I saw the website for mexico but when i clicked the us link it wasnt in english and i want to see what im paying and make sure im buying the right item. We dont need it yet my girl is only 7 months but i like it because it looks like an updated grovia trainer. I used the grovia one on my son for a couple days(all he needed) but would have preferred a cotton liner.

Does anyone know if you were to cut a flannel recieving blanket in half and sew them into newborn inserts if they would be easy to wash? Im not sure how many layers it would make and of course unsewn it would wash the easiest but would it be much different than any other cotton insert or like a prefold?

  • @mariocartel544

Also agree it's a bit odd how high some people sell used diapers. I've seen them priced higher than new because they are "collectable prints" but they have flaws and I really don't understand selling it more than it costs when it's been used regardless of what print it is. I would feel guilty selling someone diapers for more than I paid for them, they catch poop!! I don't sell my used underwear and I don't poop in them like my baby does in diapers lol. I can understand selling a whole bundle of the ones you have still usable when you no longer need them like you said at about half the retail price but even buying individual diapers used to me doesn't usually make financial sense after the shipping price is added in, they end up sometimes close to or above the new price or the price I could get with a sale and without paying a shipping price(I won't pay shipping I'd rather just buy more to meet the minimum and if im shopping I probably need a few things anyways). Also I know people discount the flats and prefolds and I think it would be awesome to use all all in one's all the time if I had the money but we aren't all the same so don't feel bad that you have an "old fashioned" stash. We don't all have the money for a Lamborghini either and we may want them but we accept that it's not in our budget and move on and I think you just have to accept your budget for what it is and watch sales.

I think if you are in the market for newborn cloth diapers and earlier into pregnancy I would just look out for sales and be a bit flexible about what your willing to use. I got 10 rumparooz tokidoki prints for $6 each right from their website plus 2 in newborn and 1 in onesize at once upon a child(consignment store) for $1 each and had the tags on them still!! That was lucky as I rarely see cloth diapers there but it's worth a shot for sure! They had them in with their swim diapers and I think maybe they either didn't know what they were or only took them in because they were new, idk why but I just don't come across them often there. Then I got 3 dozen osocozy prefold seconds for $50ish and a 3pk of snappis and a pack of pins for maybe $10 for both, plus what my sister gave me free. Cottonbabies.com and clothdiaper.com are good places to find seconds too which just means they have a tiny flaw and usually it's something hardly noticeable that doesn't affect function. I personally wouldn't buy used again. I'm not a germaphobic by any means I tried doing only used with my oldest for budget reasons and to try to reduce waste but often times people would be kind of shady about condition and they would smell rancid or heavily of detergent or bleach so I knew they had build up and wash problems that I now had to deal with or the elastic velcro or pul wouldn't be as good as they said it was. One time i was shipped an actual dirty diaper with number 2 in it i was absolutely horrified that someone thought to send that out without checking that it was washed. This happened to me over and over just getting issues buying used or they just fell apart quickly because they were on their last leg and maybe I was just unlucky but it left a bad taste in me that caused me to just prefer buying new so id know for sure what I was getting. But If you are early enough along I'd figure out a couple diapers you really like and then subscribe to their website for sales updates and figure out if they sell seconds(again not used but tiny manufacturing flaws, could be a dirt spot that washes out or a slightly crooked stitch) and if so if it's on their site or another. Being flexible with prints and styles can also be a help. And a lot of companies do big sales on black friday(day after thanksgiving) and earth day(April 22) and its likely during your 9 months in pregnancy you will line up with one of those days for a sale and you can set aside money for them until that date or just buy the more expensive items that you want then to cut costs(like buying the covers on sale but get the prefolds later because the savings isn't as drastic if you don't catch another sale). I wouldn't worry too much about the upfront cost because there are sales so often but do look for something your more likely to afford. I would love a bunch of thirsties or grovia all in ones but realistically even on sale I can't afford to get enough of them to cloth diaper my soon to be two in cloth at once(or even just one!). Like esembly that make up the primary part of my stash that i use are slightly out of my budget but I spread out my purchases and try to catch sales and use my Amazon registry discount and that puts them into a more affordable range for me. I could buy prefolds and covers outright but find them easier on newborns and pockets can be cheap but stuffing is not my thing I think skip the pocket and use a cover at least it's reusable for a few changes lol. Anyways I hope this helps someone and if you are wondering if the cost is worth it I'd say usually yes. It's unlikely you will spend more on nb diapers than you can afford and you can sell them after or use them on other children if you plan to have them and I think(though my babies are smaller so don't quote me) at a least you might spend the same as you would on disposables but again with the option to sell or use on another kid and environmentally it's definately worth it to reduce landfill waste for your child's future.

My oldest was born in 2010, we started cloth diapering him in sized bumgenius all in one's(LMAO!!) I think the bumgenius 2.0 was the new pocket at the time but I got mine from seconds sales, I tried random other ones back then that no longer exist now (gdiapers, happy heiny, grobaby became grovia lol, fuzzibunz, just tons that no longer exist lol). A few months in I was given two econobum kits and they were so bulky I sold them and got random pockets and all in ones. I never got a wash routine down because I primarily used microfiber and everything stunk constantly I just thought that's how it went and accepted it. I didnt have my next baby until 2023, so imagine pregnant me in 2022 trying to find a cloth diaper stash lol. It was TOTALLY different and my research was beginning all over again. Seemed like everyone does pockets and flats. I bought a nb stash of prefolds and covers knowing I was having a 4lb baby and she fit them for 5.5 months straight. When it came to time to try the pockets I bought I changed my mind. I figured out how easy cotton washes and really liked using covers and gave my sister all my pockets for my niece and started buying the esembly system with other covers and prefolds as backups. I'm pregnant now with my third and while I've used cloth on my nieces, they were just in pockets and it took no extra learning because in 13 years they haven't changed much. I did give my sister my newborn prefolds to use in her pockets though when my daughter outgrew them right before finding out I was pregnant again after figuring out people use prefolds in pockets and shes having a much better time since she uses a laundromat. When I have two in cloth next year my plan is to continue what I'm doing with the cotton in a cover, ill add in the size 2 esembly when my daughter fits it and probably bulk the stash with some flats and one size covers but other than that im probably just going to keep on what I figured out this time around. I could probably use my stash as is besides adding in the size 2 esembly but in the spring and early summer we have a tendency to get week-long power outages and I like to have a few days of diapers as back ups. We had three outages back to back when my daughter was a newborn but had 3 dozen nb and 2 dozen small prefolds and tons of gifted disposables to use as back up until it came back each time and it worked out pretty well. But with two I would want just a few more than that since we don't have boxes of disposables anymore(or yet, and hopefully don't get as gifts either lol). I just thought you might find this interesting lol, like a 13 year age gap makes me feel like a new mom all over again lol. The next two will only be 14 months apart so we'll see how that goes 😂

Honestly, the snake insert, or long tongue inserts have been around longer than 2015. There was a popular fitted brand in the early 2010s called Bagshot Row Bamboo. It was one of those hard to get diaper brands that was sold on Hyena Cart, i think. I got one used from a friend in 2013.
