I knew a man who was with the 45 Infantry Division in the ETO that told me a story about his WC-52 pulling a Ben Hur, as seen in this marvelous video. He didn't smoke. But he traded everything for cartons of cigarettes. His plan was to use the MAJOR stash of cigs for trade/currency as an occupying troop at the end of the war. In the final days of the war, a German artillery round fell directly on the trailer, vaporizing thousands of cigarettes. His fortune went up in smoke, literally. He was disappointed about this until his final days.

Beautiful Truck and trailer , Just a shame they are painted the wrong color OD . They should be Olive shade Spec # 34087 Not #29048 which is Late /Post war Semi gloss olive drab . I have several WWII vehicles I have painted over the years . Semi gloss olive# 29048 is fine If your depiction is Post WWII Anyway Nice Restoration on Both !

Thank you. sadly i did not restore the truck myself so i had no say on the color. i am actually thinking about repainting it in the right color when i get the time. but i might start restoration on a cmp Chevrolet c30 this year, and that will get the correct color when painted.

I am no engineer or anything like that but can anyone tell me why there is no powered undercarriage? I am so curious as it seems like a boat anchor in regards to efficiency. I would love an answer y'all
@SirWilkins3 жыл бұрын
The reason they did't have powered undercarriage like today wheeled "smaler" excavator 6-12 ton was probably price and technical difficult, the X 41 is probably 40 ton + easier and cheaper to move without powered connection when the undercarriage is the trailer. The reason they did't have tracks form 1981 to 1988 was because of the Swedish Åkermans now was in command as one of the owner of the Brøyt company and did't want the "enemy" to sell tracked excavators. In 1988 Brøyt say f#&k it and started to make tracked machine again. Åkermans took it to the court and lost big time. X 41 was made from 1976 to 1986 according to Wikipedia.
@broyttube3 жыл бұрын
@@SirWilkins This is completly wrong first of all The X41 standard weigth is 32,4 tons it could also get extra counter weigths so it would weig 35 tons the reson brøyt made excavators whit no drift on the wheels was too reduces cost and maintanenc and it worked out pretty well easy to move around after trucks and soo on but ofc not so efficent in moving fast on its own machine but would handel extream terrains and in 1985 when X42 came they started to make drift in the wheels so they had poclain hydraulic motors in them well but i dont know where u got ur numbers from but they are completly wrong åkermans belt restricion dident come before 1983 and lasted to 1988 then Brown engineering came in and when they bougth brøyt they tougth the old belt restricion was gone so they started making belt machines again åkermans sued them but lost
