Can this camera be used as the front with the ability to flip the image? The 958xr manual does not show the option to mirror any camera images. If not what camera can be used for front?
Hi, i Have 2019 Acura rdx. I need a remote starter that will let me run my car's ac for more than 30 min. Ideally 60 min since i work with K9 and need the temperature be low during summer. Which unit would you recommend. Thanks so much.
We were hoping to learn more about parasitic draws of the two systems.
I dont know if Kenwood integrated wireless software updates, but it was always not easy to update firmware on previous models. Garmin maps needs to be updated periodically & without over the air updates, it is pain in a butt.
Do you know if the side camera triggers kill overlay the video on the unit so if I have a map app open it won’t have the gps/maps app go crazy?
Good question, we have not tested this but our assumption would be there should be no effect on Android Auto or CarPlay maps screen if the side cams are triggered, it is simply switching what is viewed on the screen (video input wise), and should have no effect on what the maps are doing
@@LockdownSecurity Ok so do you think that this system would operate differently to how my current unit “Alpine Halo 11” F511” with the PAC VS-41 would? My guess is that since the VS-41 operates through the Reverse output on the alpine that the signal override is different. Thoughts?
@MuddyDrip again no way to answer 100 percent without testing, but, the Sony has separate dedicated camera inputs, with the wired switcher (AKA wired switch input wires) built in, so, it should have no issues with those inputs, when using maps through a smartphone, meaning, you should not have an issue.
@@LockdownSecuritythank you for your help hopefully when I install it everything will work.
Dude.. thx so much you killed it here.. about to get a system and gonna include the anti carjacking blackjack old school kit. I’m in a 2006 dodge magnum. Just gonna do an accessorized compustar system. What kinda numbers $ wise should I expect from a car audio shop? Thx man!!
Why the fuuuuuuuuck, is the usb connection not on the front of the radio.
Useless promotional video only. Does not show how to install the kit as it said in the title.
Thanks, this was what I needed for my 08 Toyota Solara convertible.
Still no optical output 😒
Not at the price point this receiver is at. Optical out is super rare, not many receivers from any brand, at any price point have it.
What Sony would you recommend instead of getting this kenwood
Sony XAV-AX3200would be similar price bracket to the DMX7709S. Or the Sony XAV-AX4000 is an option too, it has wireless CarPlay / Android Auto so is more expensive
Hello. Very good informative video, many thanks. I bought the CS2WQ900-AS but have not received it yet, I have Mazdaspeed 3 2007 model which used to start with a key but I converted it to a start/stop push button and I do have the kit to bypass the key immobilizer, now, do I need anything else to the CS2WQ900-AS to achieve Remote Start? And finally, what options does the CS2WQ900-AS come with in the box? Cheers
If you have the immobilizer bypass then you should not need anything further, however if your Mazdaspeed is manual transmission than the CS2WQ900-AS will not work, as it is for automatic vehicles only.
@@LockdownSecurity Thanks mate for your reply, is there a way to bypass the manual check, I can get a signal if the gear stick is in neutral position then I can pass that signal to the compustar as if it is automatic, and if the car is not in neutral then the signal would be negative? Cheers
@@AhmedBahgat Not safe to do it that way, if the neutral sense signal ever fails, and the car is in gear, and you remote start, see ya later car, it will drive until it hits something. You have to use a manual transmission compatible (safe) remote start on a manual vehicle, it's the only truly safe way of doing it. You need a Compustar CMX controller, and a Compustar FT-DASII sensor.
I have one in the car I just bought. How do I know which fob to buy and what functions are installed in the car? Great video!
If you bypass the parking brake on this unit can you watch videos?
Hi, is it possible to connect this external battery at the same time to the multifaxer? From what I understood from thinkware's support, their external battery cannot be connected at the same time to the multifaxer.
Your comment regarding the touch buttons and driving is spot-on. What I ended up doing is buying an Axxess AXSWC to interface the unit with the steering wheel controls of my car. That addressed the issue of having to look at the unit to see where the finger needed to be (a potential problem when the car is moving) in order to change the volume. In terms of the volume control, it makes sense that no sliding capability would be provided, as if there's a slip of the finger and the volume subsequently jumps up sharply, or somehow goes all the way up, that could cause problems or damage. Holding down the up to increase volume only works to about halfway, then after that each step louder requires its own tap. Going down, there's no restriction. I don't know about the competition, but the unit's sound - in my opinion - is quite nice, and can be adjusted in more ways than I thought possible.
Thanks from 2024!!!
This looks like a really great headunit. Definitely going to add it to my list of considerations!
Which one would be the best then? or is the difference just the remote?
I've driven a vehicle that came with rear parking sensors. There was a button to press to have it turned on or off next to the steering wheel. I am curious how this system would work for front parking sensors...how would it know when you are actually trying to park vs. when you are just stopped behind someone at a red light? Does it come with a button or switch on the display to turn on before you start a parking maneuver?
Does this work on a manual car?
Yes the EVO-ONE works on manual vehicles.
Do you recommend replacing speakers or this system will make music sound better than generic factory stereo?
Without a doubt
You guys installed any Drone XC cameras yet? It's exciting that they work with Compustar alarms! I definitely want to try one with my T12/CMX combo!
Not yet, our first one should arrive tomorrow or Friday and we will make a video on it as soon as it comes off the truck. It's concept is definitely very cool, and the fact it integrates with the entire DRONE eco system app, is 👍
I will post a link here in the comment once I make the vid, and will put up a community post as well
@jeffbates7199 On the CM-X with Blade-AL, can you make changes after the installation was completed to further fine tune certain settings and behavior? I see previous comments reference that the OP500 does the same as the Weblink updater. When changes to be made made with the Weblink updater (which I have), should the CM-X be in the vehicle and power cables connected, or should the CM-X be removed or completely unplugged from the vehicle power and sensors? To add it is a 2023 Dodge with KLON
Thank you for the video. How big is it compared to an iPhone? Meaning the screen my iPhone is a 6.7 screen and this is a 6.9 screen
It is a larger screen than an iPhone, it is considered a 7" screen (7" diagonal measured)
@@LockdownSecurity thank you for the reply
@@LockdownSecurity my Tacoma has a 8” non-JBL screen and I really didn’t want to install a really tiny screen but I guess this won’t be that bad
What would you recommend for a truck camper? It came with a 3 zone Jensen that I can never connect to.
I would suggest the new DNR1007RVS, see the link here: lockdownsecuritycanada.ca/products/kenwood-dnr1008rvs
I am indian
Good stuff, I am Canadian
Hello, i am interested to learn how to install remote starter in a vehicle, do you have any classes or is there any school can teach how to install a remote starter in a vehicle?
Great Scott!! Dr. Jeff Brown
Jeff Ross! Hahah
What about the T13?
Loving my Starline install...helps me sleep better at night. Thanks for the recommendation!
No problem, glad to hear you are enjoying the Starline system and that it is keeping your vehicle safe!
Which fuse # you used for the red and yellow wires?
Thanks for these reviews, Jeff. Not many KZreadrs are reviewing head units anymore. Tough to find a reasonably priced unit that isn't junk these days.
Thanks for watching, head unit reviews are something we love doing, it's exciting even for us to see the new models come out. If you are looking for an inexpensive option, and considering the Nakamichi, have a look at the Blaupunkt ORLANDO750 (we have a video on it), it has a volume knob and touchscreen response is great.
Excuse my ignorance, I know you where comparing when it came to newer cars with fob keys, which you would recommend for a 1995?
1995 make and model, what make and model vehicle is it?
Looks like shit. Cam in my truck is smaller
How does the installation cost?

You look like Jeff Bridges in The big Lebowski in the title photo. Nice extensions 😂
For the same money you purchase a Android had unit with a 4K display toslink audio out 5G SIM card support Wi-Fi 6 built-in 1 TB hard drive you run full Microsoft Office apps support for up to 4 displays HDMI 2.1. here you have Kenwood is basically selling a device with The processing power of $100 cell phone
The question of quality, not always quantity comes up. Yes for the money there are options out there with WAY more functionality, but will those options work without quirks, or even work at all after 1 year, is the question. What you get from name brand receivers, is no quirks, and reliability for years.
Changing brands makes for disgruntled installers. Better have donuts on hand :)
We agree, this can cause issues if the vendor is a single brand only vendor, this is one of the reasons we carry multiple brands, so that our installers can be familiar with as many as possible.
compustar is better
I wish Compustar have us the option to activate / deactivate certain alarm sensors from the remote or phone app. For instance if parking at home in the garage, you can just arm a certain sensor, butnif parking at a busy/sketchy area, be able to arm more sensors. That would be really cool!
Technically, this is possible using AUX outputs, *but* you (the user) would need to know which AUX output is turning on or off which sensor. This is NOT a native feature though, where there are actual indications given as to which sensor is turned on or off, it would be a custom set up done using the Compustar AUX outputs, of which there can be up to 8 aux outs available (default system availability being Aux 1 and Aux 2)
I hear Viper has some new remotes coming out real soon. Im excited to see what they are, only because im curious. I dont think anything can top the T12 / CMX combo in my opinion! Especially with the VAISTECH SEER that ive tied into it!
Viper / DIrected (specifically their parent company VOXX) is planning a revamp of the entire Viper line, which I believe will be including new key fobs. No idea on time frame for this though, looks to be 4th quarter of 2024 at the earliest, and will more than likely be early 2025
Would either of the Viper models be considered a passive system whereby if you turn off, exit, and lock the vehicle, it automatically becomes 'armed' ? Also since you explained how the Viper model tends to be more of a 'bundle,' am I correct in assuming if I want the 2-way remote I have to get the model that gets the remote start installed as well? Would one of the Viper-parent-company smartphone apps support the 3105V too and what exactly can be done through the app?
You can configure either brand (Compustar or Viper) to passively arm, and also passively arm + lock (riskier to set as you could lock yourself out), thereby creating an auto arming setup. As for Viper, yes, if you buy one of the analogue systems, you must buy the version that comes with the 2-way LCD, they are not upgradeable per se (like Compustar can be). Now, for DS4 from Directed/Viper, these can be "upgraded" using a 2-way key fob kit, but the analogue systems (as I show in he video) require you to buy them equipped, with the key fob of your choice (not easily upgradeable). Viper 3105V is NOT compatible with SmartStart (Directed's smartphone system).
Super helpful video as I was unfamiliar with all the different terminologies, functions, and product lines.
It can definitely get confusing!
Great to hear!
17:21 Is the tilt sensor able to differentiate between towing vs. going up a steep hill/off-roading/uneven terrain?
Your alarm is not active when driving so the tilt sensor as well as the other sensors are obsolete
@@motorman1710 right of course, my bad! Have been so paranoid about 4Runner theft I wasn't thinking straight 😂.
I have compustar and igla on my TRX and I've been very pleased with the set-up
The digital tilt sensors, set themselves up to whatever angle there are at when the system arms, meaning if the vehicle is on an incline or decline when parked and armed, the sensor will detect variances (tilt change) from whatever angle they were armed at. As the other commenters mentioned, while driving the sensors will not be active.
Compustar is more DYI if you wanna install it yourself.
Compustar! 100%!!
