  This is definitely not Greek dance. Ancient Greek dance you can find here on you tube writing in Greek “αρχαίος ελληνικός χορός» will show you Greek dancers from Greeks dancing the real Ancient Greek moves which always was in a circle with Ancient Greek music and Ancient Greek costumes, the child of Ancient Greek dance is the traditional Greek folk dances which is again with traditional Greek music and always in a circle or with partners. Also «λαϊκοί χοροί « traditional Greek dances which includes the famous zeimpekiko (ζεϊμπέκικο ) I’m a Greek dancer and dance teacher of traditional Greek dances. The dance in this video is inspired from ballet and modern dance with classical music of a piano . Definitely not any Greek inspiration. That’s sad cause I thinks ISTD try to make money making dances that not exist or trying making money with existing dances ( ballet, modern , jazz etc) giving different names and cheating people in the name of marketing. Really disappointed from a huge organization like this.

  Your post needs a response. As I am a teaching member of the ISTD and very proud to be a member of such an organization. I am also a qualified teacher of Classical Greek Dance in Athens Greece. First of all, the Classical Greek Dance Association of the ISTD does not ask a great deal of money from its students and members. Some organizations in Greece are the ones who are cheating their members with membership fees with no essential dance education and content. Secondly, the Classical Greek Dance Association has been providing an artistic and cultural education to hundreds of versatile theater dancers since 1913 when it was conceived by its founder Ruby Ginner and has been going strong ever since in many countries of the common wealth and never did she ever believe she was dancing as the ancient Greeks danced. Ruby Ginner is a pioneer of modern dance in Britain and the Classical Greek Dance is a modern dance expression of the idea that ancient Greece can inspire modern artists and such examples we have right through the centuries, mainly in Europe, too long to list here. No teacher nor the Greek Association believe that they are dancing Ancient Greek Dance. This is what we call inspiration!!! A creative process when choreographers are creating dances. Every artist has the right and freedom to be inspired by ancient Greece as was Isadora Duncan and Eva Palmer -Sikelianos and of course many many other Greek stage artists. I wonder what you have to say about the way Ancient Greek drama is staged in the ancient theaters each summer by the state theaters of Greece??? I wonder what you have to say about the transference of Greek folk dance to the stage? “cheating people in the name of marketing” ??? quite a STRONG accusation don’t you think?? I would like to know how YOU teach the circle dances as you say are DEFINITELY the only way the ancient Greeks danced. And also how much you actually know about them right down to the last detail and whether you have any examining body checking up on exactly how and what you are teaching??? Now , what is really so disappointing is how limited you think that the dances of ancient Greece actually were, because when studying ALL THE SOURCES that provide information on ancient Greek Dance we see an immense variety of dances. Please be careful on who is cheating who- THE REAL AUTHENTIC ANCIENT GREEK MOVES???

  Tolga blue I don’t know but this is the style I did, through ISTD. In America they call it lyrical.
