Hello and Welcome to my KZread Channel. My channel is mostly my personal home videos of mostly trains filmed with in the State of New York starting in 2007 right up till July 2013 and Tulsa, Oklahoma from July 2013 to October 2017. I do have much older footage of Conrail and Finger Lakes Railway on VHS-C Tapes someday when I get around to it I'll get them on DVD and upload some good half hour to 1 hour videos here but for now I'll work on what I can film for now. I am a former Railroad Maintenance employee and a model railroader. My videos are for entertainment and educational use only I do NOT know train symbols and even if I did I will not share them for security reasons. I have Thousands of hours of video of 100% advertisement free content. I stress safety and advise doing this hobby from public locations to start with! I stress the safety part and have zero issues calling the police on fellow railfans ingageing in dangerous activities all in the name of perfect videos and photos.

    My son is special needs and he really likes Sperry Rail Service railcars he thinks that Progress Rail, Siemens, or any other company that builds railroad equipment should build passenger versions of these and the departments of transportation should restore and rebuild railroad lines that were abandoned and/or removed and run these on them and on lines that don't get passenger service.

  • @onrr1726
    @onrr17266 ай бұрын

    I worked for Sperry Rail Service for a few years. Many of the cars they operate are former self-propelled doodle bugs used for passenger and light freight delivery of mail they were also capable of pulling 3 to 5 freight cars as well. Sperry bought and converted them fto test cars as when the Railroads started to cut back passenger traffic on some lines while simply putting a combination passenger car on the end of a local way freight on lone branch line. As the passenger traffic dried up more the passenger cars were substituted with just buying a ticket and riding in the caboose till the service was no longer deemed worth operating. The Soo Line holds the title of being the last railroad to offer passenger service via a Caboose in 1986 on rural branch lines. As for abandoned railroad lines many were duplicate lines that were removed as the railroads merged. Here in New York State your mostly on the New York Central but parts of that were abandoned in favor of the parallel West Shore Railroad which actually shorten the NYC line between Albany and Buffalo and made them more efficient. A good example is the New York Central traveled at grade in Syracuse which slowed them down at street level. Once they took over the West Shore they were elevated in the city. The elevated section is now I690 you'll also see this in ares east of Syracuse where the Tracks go elevated in many locations. The West Shore RR preferred to have as few railroad crossings as possible when built and the NYC was at grade. After the buy out NYC simply realigned their tracks did away with hundreds of crossings by tieing into the WSRR main line. The Lehigh Valley had many duplicate main lines and it was only a matter of time before most of it would be removed in the 1960's due to lack of industry on the lines. The formation of Conrail in 1976 killed off many lines and small shippers that did not move more than a specific number of cars set by them per week, month or year metrics. Being a government owned operation between 1976 and 1985 Conrail had a free hand to do what ever they wanted long before other railroads could till the stragglers act was removed.

The Weedsport cops are not permitted to cross the bridge on 31 between the village limits and the raceway which puts the raceway and bus barn in the town the village police are not under contract with the town they are under the Sheriff's department jersdiction. The same goes with Jordan police once they cross the county line by the erie canal locks on 31 they have zero authority and are to be reported to the town office in Jordan / Elbridge town office.

    I've never understood stood the letter number code thing none of it makes any sense to me the crews don't often call them out when I hear them they call out the cab number. I remember the Conrail letter codes and the crews calling them out with exceptions made for foreign power where reporting marks and cab number were given.

    onrr1726 oh man Conrail, a tad before my time. I am not the best with CSX symbols but I know for our line of it is an even number symbol it is eastbound and odds are westbound that is all I know.

    @@rustyrailspikeproductions from whst I remember of Conrail was general freight for example between Buffalo to Selkirk would be BUSE on the return trip it would be SEBU. For a CN train from Montreal via Syracuse to Selkirk it was CNSE the return SECN. Autorack trains were listed as ML - ### the 3 digit number would indicate east or west bound as did coal drags often starting as UC-- - ### UC was Unit Coal followed by to letters indicating the mine it came from followed by a number. Trains with solid semi trailers and no stack Cars were classed as Mail - ### or TV - ###. Extras were often listed as XTRA - #### there was no specific number to indicate east or west on high and wides the number would start at 1 and would end at how ever many moves were made over the course of the year and rest to 1 again after the new year. An extra of 2ed section on a train like BUSE Buffalo - Selkirk for example would go BUSE the 2ed section would be BUSE - 2 and -3 if there was a 3ed section only the letters indicate direction of east or west not the number in this exception for a 2ed or rare 3ed section of a train going east or west.
