Miss the days of normal, workmanlike salutes in the dressage. Today’s elaborate flourishes really annoy me. The point of the salute was to show the horse was fully in the bridle and completely attentive. It was never meant to be an interpretive dance.

I was lucky enough to be in this session, it was a lot of fun and St Augustine's is a beautiful church, used many times for orchestral recordings over the years (particularly the BBC Symphony whose base is just down the road in Maida Vale). The 76 ( I think they got more than that in the end) departed after this track was in the can and then the front row 16-20 players remained to record the rest of the album which some of us stayed to listen to and which went on to some ungodly hour. To be able to listen to the cream of London's orchestral Trombonists of the time in one place was quite an experience, and many of them still had rehearsals to be at in the morning with their chops hanging off. Great to see some old faces again, thanks for posting LiveArtPresents.

Sort of a weird video. The sound track does not sync with what the various trombones are actually playing. It seems like they just edited a bunch of performing video then overlayed the music.

We know the facts and demand of the proof. Of our natural rights They can never deny, When We, the people, know that They lie. CHORUS And We, the people, reserve all our rights. Preserve all our freedoms, without need to fight. For those, who would steal them, can only be wrong, But We, the people, will always be strong. "Simple" is not a word that should ever be used to describe any work by Lonnie Johnson. You neglect to mention that he pretty much defined the guitar solo as we know it, played with both Armstrong and Ellington, was the first to record an amplified violin, etc. Johnson was a musical giant, with hits spanning decades and more than one "rediscovery". He did not consider himself a blues player, rather, a musician.
