Wow, so nice to see how it looks from the pilot's perspective. I'm watching this as I sit in my car next to this very runway, lots of flights coming in. Love watching the planes come in. I like to get underneath when it's coming in low 😅👍🏻😊💫❤️

Apparently you don't live under the landing path? There are >200 movements per day at this airport, resulting in approx. 100 landings or takeoffs for each impacted suburb. This means 100x aircraft noise of 70-85dB above your house, Saturday, Sunday and every holiday of the year included. It starts from 6am and ends at midnight, leaving you 6h of calm sleep per night. You know what such repeated noise does to your health over the years? All science shows the development of cardio-vascular diseases and reduced cognitive performance in children, meaning people get dumber and sicker. DGAC estimates that there are 80000 people impacted in Nantes by aircraft noise. Something to think about next time you see an airplane above Nantes city center.

Why gear down so late? Usually at 2500 above and not at 1000
@Lordnacho7382 жыл бұрын
Hello Stefan, very sorry for the late reply, my company's procedure is to extend gear and flap 15 at 5nm from RW point in IMC, and 4nm (3.5 latest) from RW point in VMC at the latest. The rule of thumb for a 3 degree path is three times the distance equals the hight, 4nm is around 1200ft, and 5nm is around 1500ft. Other companies, and aircrafts may have different procedures. The call at 2500ft is around 7nm from the RW point, at that point we only have flap 5, or flap 10 if speed and inertia management is required. You can hear the EGPWS call of 1000ft after I request flaps 15 and gear down, so the distance was correct according to our procedures. I hope this helps, any doubt let me know
