    I almost quit because I could not slide the brake pedal off. Then I found your video. Thanks JL. I have a 2021 Kodiak. Purchased 3 years ago exactly. Not stored outside, but in a barn. It's quite wet in the Oregon area I am at. The rear foot brake pedal seized(almost) so that the brake light was always on. The only way to get it off, was to lift the brake pedal. Got harder all the time. Your video gave me the confidence to do this. The torch-flame to the pedal was the magical secret. And it made it easier to access the pedal after taking all the body parts off too. Simply put: Your video was spot on! I almost gave up and took the bike to the dealer for repair. That would be 2 round trips(4 hours) and likely $300 of repairs. I did the whole repair in 2 hours(this is counting me failing, finding your video, and restarting).

    The trigger bar is not pushed down far enough to slip off the sear, and so does not catch the striker. Mine would fail to reset if I pulled up on the slide while working the slide, or pushing the trigger to the left. It would work ok while live firing because of inertia caused by the speed of the moving parts. I took off about .020" in the area that trigger bar contacts the sear to correct the issue. The disconnector now pushes the trigger bar down far enough to reset regardless of how I manipulate the gun.

  • @jlspowersportshobbies4568
    @jlspowersportshobbies45683 ай бұрын

    Depends how dirty the carbs are. Some can be cleaned with just carb cleaner spray. Others need to soak in a gunk carb cleaner. If the carb has corrosion I use a baking soda blaster.

  • @davidpatterson5728
    @davidpatterson57285 ай бұрын

    A friend bought an aftermarket carb, he removed the old and started putting on the aftermarket and got stuck. I helped him out in that area but my question is, we don't know where some of the tubes go. The small nipple under the carb, you mentioned as the "overflow" that must be a single smaller tube simply going to drain if needed? Under the seat is two holes where two black hoses simply set there. The left hole goes to a "T" connector and I think attaches to the upper right of the carb on the choke side?? Does this simply go down through the frame as a drain or does the end hook to something? The right hole under the seat, where does this hose go to? I think we have too much "AIR" the machine will start but idling is way high! IF I put my fingers on the T tube the rpms goes down and then will stall. I wish I had taken it apart from the start. I think we could have cleaned the carb in the beginning. Originally it wouldn't start. He pulled the plug and looked for spark and fuel came pumping out the cylinder. Float stuck?? He is not very mechanical at all. Neither am i either but a tad more maybe. Great information, sincerely thank you so much!

  • @jlspowersportshobbies4568
    @jlspowersportshobbies45685 ай бұрын

    I would suggest not using aftermarket carbs. They'll just make you pull your hair out. Buy an OEM carb or rebuild the original with quality parts. Those Amazon/ eBay China carbs aren't very good. It's been a while since I worked on that machine so I can't remember hose routing. The hose on the bowl is an overflow/ drain. The others should just be breathers.

    Got one of these just like it about a month ago. (a 2003) It sat outside of my neighbor's house for I'm guessing about 8-10 years, never saw him use it. I went over and pitched an offer on it and he sold it to me. I actually started it and walked it home. It ran, but not right. I did some cleaning on it, some minor misc things and tuning to it, crankcase flush and fill, carb, etc and it runs like a champ! I don't think it was used very much before it got parked there years ago.
