I started living in my 1991 Westfalia Volkswagen camper van on February 1, 2011. It has been an adventure of life lessons and learning to live minimally. On this youtube channel I aim to give you guys who are interested in this way of life some insight on what makes life easier while living in a van. When I first got the idea to live in a van I thought it was impossible for a guy like me to accomplish such a thing. I was used to the typical American lifestyle. I had no clue what it took to live in a van. So I went to youtube and found information and encouragement from other KZreadrs that really gave me the confidence to do this. After 8 months of living in my van I had learned so much about it that I wanted to give back to the community and share with other people who are interested in this way of life, some good motivation to live this lifestyle.

Hi Chad, Hello from Australia. I absolutely love your camping videos. I just bought a VW T6.1 Transporter (4 motion) so will be joining you in van life. I pick it up this Friday. It's just a bare bones van so will have to kit it out. I have done all kinds of camping but now looking forward to van life just to simplify the experience. Might need to get some of your van life stickers so I look the real deal! 😂

Everyone needs to understand these vans are not for hard off road activities. That's what Jeeps and trucks are for. These vans are for traveling "off pavement". They go to tourist places or not tourist places but where help is only a half days walk in any direction. Either by cell phone or actual communities' and cities. These vans take you in luxury to places tour busses don't go. You go out for a few days and take lots of video, edit in via your satellite or wifi link and have a good time. It's a lifestyle. It's not an extreme sport.

I'm going to move 1200 miles. I plan on staying in the uhaul for a month until I can secure housing. I have to look at where I'm renting, too risky to rent online. I'm planning on moving in the fall when it's cool bit not cold. I think for me and my pups this is the best option

Hey Chad. I've been watching your videos from before the pandemic. Your new van is magnificent. I envy you my friend. I really would like to live a van life myself, but I'm recovering from cardiac arrest. I have an internal Defibrillator that has to be monitored constantly. Just watching you in the van surrounded by a blizzard is remarkable. One question, have you ever been in a situation where some crazy person in the woods was stalking you? That's the one thing that worries me if I was on the road.
You may want to consider acquiring an Amateur Radio License. It will allow you emergency comms when all other networks are not available. Not only is there voice communications but various digital modes, including the ability to send email without access to a server.
ive used a small charcoal grill as a makeshift firepit multiple times, works pretty well and if it can stand hot cooking coals no reason it wont work for fire coals!

I lost my 21 year old son and my youngest brother to fentanyl, five months apart and my best friend cancer recently and my youngest daughter has pancreatic cancer. Your videos bring me some peace and free my mind from grief and sadness for a short while. God bless you for that
