That child needs some discipline. My first plane ride was Air Liberia, from that very same Voinjama Tenebu Regional Airport. It was much taken care of in those days. 50 seated Air Liberia 1983, with waiting room , restrooms and communication room,. There were no cell phones those days. However, Telecom was there. Our parents who had the money, had phones at home. The Lebanese, and other nationals with big businesses had phones too. That was Voinjama those days.

What a great project it was! The well on the property of Sherman and Mildred was used by the community. Getting the barrel out that housed the old well posed a problem and a truck was used to pull it out. Then sinking the new culverts was a challenge because of sandy ground. What a wonderful celebration there was in the community when the first water was pumped from the well. To God be the glory for providing and thanks to a great team that rehabilitated the well and installed the hand pump!

My grandfather was the guy incharge of the original construction of the ELWA radio station, and was mentioned in the first broadcast. He was a missionary with the Sudan interior mission and a Reverend and brick layer. He's also referenced in "Voice Under Every Palm".

We are so thankful for him. We are raising funds for the equipment inside the new radio studio. We are awaiting a new tower next year.

@@GeneBrooks I never knew the impact he had and his smarts. His father and grandfather were masons here in Toronto, Canada, and finding out the impact dad's family has had has been eye opening, with the buildings they built. He really felt the need to serve the Lord and while I'm not a religious guy, im proud of the accomplishments of his accomplishments. He's mentioned on the ELWA first broadcast at around 9 minutes (can't remember the seconds). His name was Harold Kilborn Dancy. There is even a street here in Toronto, named after him. I'd love to visit Monrovia to see the station. My grandfather died in 1987, I believe. He was 90. He also had been in World War 1. What a man!

@@GeneBrooks ♥️ To see what my family was a part of, would be such a great thing. In addition, it looks beautiful there. I'd absolutely love to have you show me around. The history and knowing my family was all the way in Africa, helping others, makes me proud!...my mom's childhood friend, her husband was an ambassador to a country I can't recall, in Africa and she told mom years ago that her husband's father's books are still on the shelves in libraries and that he was still highly thought of. I also inquired about donating my grandmother's piano to the SIM Interserve place around the corner from us in the city. When I went inside and spoke to the fellow, he recognized my grandfather's name. My parents still have the pump organ in the basement, that my grandmother played when they were giving their sermons/services, too.

Big tyres don't work in this red mud. We use standard Landrover narrow tyres. They don't pish mud ahead and build up much you can't get over. They took the wrong routes. Only a truck would take that route. Pickups should go on the far side.
