I never understood the western fascination with Tolstoy and Dostoevsky . I don’t know a single Russian that likes them . They are so boring and depressing. Read Chehov Bulgakov Griboedov they are 1000s more interesting .
@magneticx5 жыл бұрын
I actually think the same. I can not fully understand why that fanaticism. Maybe they likes the depressing so much... Sometimes I believe that just they are playing at being intellectual. Like all the whole world. But for tastes, there's colors, right?
@tanyam54715 жыл бұрын
Are you serious? Both authors are treasure for russians. Mostly children in Russia don't like to read Tolstoy and Dostoevsky because they are too complicated for young minds. And books are really big. When I was in school I've read Crime and Punishment for one day. I couldn't stop reading. And I disagree about depression. In Dostoevsky's novels there is always a place for hope. You just have to read carefully and will see it.

@emfacs10 жыл бұрын
Hi Missy. Good point. Some people use objects as a barrier to make them feel a little more comfortable. This doesn't always mean that they are lying though - they may simply be uncomfortable with the interview pressure or the media. The same goes for face and ear touching. These are often judged as reliable indicators of deception... they aren't. There are theories that the fine blood vessels in the earlobes create a sensation when blood pressure rises, causing someone to touch the lobes. Whilst that may be the case, we have to be carefull here too as blood pressure can increase because of a person's fear of being caught in a lie...or...it could also be due to the fear of being disbelieved. This is where you need to be a good interviewer to test out these scenarios. I hope that helps.
