Despicable engine design that feature. But these are the engines that have big power potential because all the parts are uprated compared to previous generations. Darkside did a chat on how the power goes up beyond expectations.

Sounds like a design and manufacture problem. If it’s a known problem, VW should repair it or receive the consequence of brand and market failure.

My Audi TTs had the oil light flash up. The specialist dropped the sump and found the end of the dipstick partially blocking the pick up. To save money the engine manufacturers added a plastic level indicator on the end of the dipstick - over time this has deteriorated and broken off. I tried to get a full metal equivalent but in the end I had no option but to replace it with the same part.

Never buy a car with an engine that has a wet belt system. Who on earth thought that running a rubber belt in oil must be mad.

You're in totally the wrong game if you've not got 4k spare, buy a car you can afford to run rather than overlanding and praying nothing goes wrong.

Totally disagree with you, it’s nothing to do with that. I could have bought a 5yr one with 50k miles and this still happen. I’m not clinging onto hopes and dreams here, I’m trying to create relatable content for the majority to see if you should or shouldn’t do this…

Be an EGR Valve delete (and remap to wipe it off the system) if I were in your shoes with the engine out. Less sh** to go wrong with I'd be doing it. Least then you'd know that that engine and system is as reliable as you can get it. Still learnt a new thing with those engines having a Wet Belt oil pump drive.

I’ve had a good run with discovery’s and still think they’re one of the best ‘off the shelf’ vehicles you can buy for value for money and capability however mine had split inlet manifolds and a cross over pipe leak, that being around £2500-£3000 to repair, the idea of spending that and potentially still having a crankshaft snap make me take the jump back to a pickup as I was really struggling for space

Ever drive a ineos grenadier and if so what's ur opinion on them?
@grittoutdoors11 күн бұрын
Not driven one but love them from a standing beside point of view. I’ve heard some teething issues in some parts of the design however perfectly acceptable for a new manufacturer with their 1st vehicle. I expect the MK2 grenadier will be almost perfected (emission control dependant) however any brand that encourage the use of using a vehicle properly, offer factory upgrades to support off-road use and warranty it gets my vote all day long.

I would have sanded down the surfice rust, and sprayed DINITROL RC900 into the sills where i could and then add a Raptor as the above chap said. To give the sills a bit more protection. But loving what your doing. I would not have bothered with the air intake. A snorkel has a practical use. The air intake is pointless, but does look cool.

In Morocco, dog herds sometimes contain more than 200 dogs A few years ago, I almost had a traffic accident while I was going from the city of Al-Aroui to the city of Nador, when more than 100 dogs crossed the road. Suddenly, I did not see them because I was coming out from under a train bridge.
