    I dont drive much so not being able to fill the gas tank all the way didn't bother me too much. The gas leak just started last winter as well as the brake lines leaking. I replaced all the brake lines and drove it another year and after sitting down and asking myself if it was worth fixing up I think with how much was wrong with it added up too way too much time and effort for a car that was only suppose to last 2-3 years.

  • @greg7886
    @greg7886Ай бұрын

    When you crank the TB adjustment (or swap the keys) to achieve more ride height, you will always have to add positive camber on the shorter upper A-arm to compensate. The harsher ride has less to do with the movement of the hub angles as it does the simple fact that you're increasing the TB tension at ride height. It's basically just like adding stiffer (or taller) springs.

  • @PostalRedneck
    @PostalRedneckАй бұрын

    Yes when cranking your ride height up you will find that the tire tips in at the top and you will have to adjust for that by getting a proper alignment done afterwords. However adjusting the ride height using the torsion bar adjustment bolt or swapping out the keys does not change the stiffness of the torsion bar.

  • @greg7886
    @greg7886Ай бұрын

    @@PostalRedneck Hmm. So when you begin to twist a torsion bar the resistance to the torque is the same in the beginning as it is at max torque just before it snaps? Does not sound right but I'm no engineer.

  • @PostalRedneck
    @PostalRedneckАй бұрын

    @@greg7886 you don't need to be an engineer to understand simple angles. If I clock the torsion key 1° the lower control arm clocks 1°. There is no extra load but the vehicle Rises due to the angle of the control arm. I don't know where you are getting this extra resistance from.

  • @greg7886
    @greg7886Ай бұрын

    @@PostalRedneck yeh I was thinking of the resistance as your raise the truck but that may be wrong. Maybe there is some small increase because of the steeper angle of the lower a-arm. After thinking about it as you put it, your point makes sense to me. Given the same weight I guess it would not start to resist/tension-up until you reach the end of travel. I did it to my truck .... was able to find some new shocks designed for up to 1.5" lift. Did not have it long after that but I can't say I noticed any hasher ride.

    Hello redneck. I've got a Z71 Suburban I'm scrapping the whole front end in favor of the Dana 44 swap. Anything worth keeping? I'm working on cleaning up my new service truck too. It's a 3500 07 Classic Sierra. Has an 11.5" rear end. I thought it looked bigger than a standard 14 bolt.

  • @PostalRedneck
    @PostalRedneckАй бұрын

    If your doing a SAS then I dont think there is much of anything worth keeping other than the gear box. You will have to send some pictures of the build. I want to do a SAS on my Escalade build some time in the future. The 11.5 is a full float. That is a big axle.
