Thank you for sharing your expertise. I passed the 608 general several years ago partly with your older videos & ESCO study guide (was told by test proctor I got the highest score he had ever seen, don't recall if it was perfect or not). Now reviewing as this is not something I use on a daily basis. Watching your newer videos I cannot help but notice the difficulty you have with the surgical type mask. One suggestion I can't resist making from an Occupational Medicine point of view: you would be much better off with an N95 respirator (the type with elastic around back of head, better seal around nose, don't constantly fall below your nose/mouth, and actually prevent covid infections, unlike the surgical masks). I have found that the disposable HDX N95's available at big box stores (like HD) are very comfortable, don't touch my nose, and so far me or my spouse have not NO COVID in 4 years using them religiously indoors. Pack of 10 (or even 30) is cheap & they can be used for a week or longer each if kept dry. If school supplies a different kind & you can't afford the better type (unlikely), one suggestion is to twist the straps on the KN95/surgical mask type ear loops before wrapping them around the ear. This takes up some slack & helps keep them in place better. Sorry, I couldn't resist adding this because I saw you struggling with the surgical masks, and also because I believe that masks get a bad reputation for effectiveness (or ineffectiveness) when they are not worn properly -- like wearing gloves with holes in them while working with acid - just doesn't work as well! Again, terrific lectures, and very important knowledge, thanks for sharing.
This guy is a great teacher! His students are very fortunate.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge
3:20 step 1 is to confirm continuity thru the multi-meter first
First thing you should do for any refrigeration/ac call is grab the suction line and the liquid line, every time. You’ll immediately know if that compressor is running, and based on how hot/cold the lines are you can make a determination if it’s low on refrigerant. Also touch that compressor and feel how hot it is. You can troubleshoot and rule out a lot of potential issues just by feeling the temp of different components
Damn they got fieldpiece multimeters, I got a shit meter when I went through school
He made me want to learn electrical 😂 I’m a 29 year old teacher lol
Based on my training its best label in 3 types of cooling Comfort %10 Comercial %20 Industrial %30 (complex) IPR systems -chillers Rather than labeling both comercial and industrial in same principle.. but overall really great informative video Thank you
I feel bad for him his students are brain dead
On refrigerators that cost over $1,000, why doesn't the manufacturer have this restart device built-in to the refrigerator? I can see how easily it could be implemented but I assume they won't because it will devalue you technicians.
Where is he teaching?
Question: I already passed core and type 1. Have to go back for type 2/3 . the instructor says you can write down the chart for vacuum on a scratch PC of paper for the test. However rules say you can only take pressure chart "blank" PC of paper and calculator. So who's right???
You can do this while the proctor is getting ready on your piece of blank paper. If you do it while he is reading the instruction or when he says begin then that is ok You are not supposed to be able to bring any prewritten notes into the testing center. Since when is “Red” vapor?
Some tanks have “Red” as vapor. Depends on who made it and where it was made.
Why would a recovery tank be labeled “Virgin” ?
Some donated equipment was too badly damaged to use, but was still pre-charged with either R-22 (until 2010) and currently R-410a. We would scrap the unit for training parts and recover the never used or “virgin” refrigerant into a separate tank for student use later.
Have you never heard of a light. Cant see a thing your doing
Very nice😊
Try explaining the bi metal distortion of the Klixon o/load and how it works and WHY is it always on the C ( common) ? That’s unit 4 class lol
whats that strange round thing in your hand that makes those words?
Remote clicker/pointer for presentations.
great teacher
What model is that big fluke meter?
Fluke T5-1000
I passed my universal EPA exam and I can't tell you how thankful I am that I watched and learned from your various videos that you have posted.
I was just taking a look at my EPA 608 universal after obtaining it over 5+ years ago. I watched all your EPA 608 videos and went down to the local testing and passed it first try. These videos were way more helpful than the actual in-person education I was learning. During my HVAC courses, I watched nearly all your videos and was ahead of my class for months. My in-person professor was quite confused on how I've obtained so much knowledge ahead of the courses. I was recruited using EPA 608 and was half way through my HVAC certificate many years ago. Thank you for all you've done! For any newcomers into HVAC world, spend all your time through his videos! I played these videos while eating, driving, etc. Use all the time you have available to further yourself. You won't regret it! Best of luck!
14:04 idk if chart got updated but it messed me up haha
got my EPA exam on Friday this week, and found this video to be very straight to the point and resourceful. thank you very much for making this video and showing you actually care about your students / viewers future in this business.
I have a part time job doing hvac and go to school through university of North Dakota
Whos the spaz that's filming? My god can't sit still for 1 sec, horrible
Vary professional thank you love the suit God bless
We need this type of education in High Schools. Would help a lot with youth mental health. These trades give us a purpose and helps us with growth in patience and problem solving. One heck of a professor.
Trade teachers or really any jobs with active/on the job training are always way more engaging. Anything where you can be shown in person how to and the teacher/trainer is really invested in making you successful are always the best. Feels a lot more "real world"
Huh?
Great at explaining the students were lucky to have him
Thank you so much for your videos! I couldn’t pass until I started watching!
Very nice
The instructor is pretty cool and informative
Thankyou I was able to fix my mini fridge just by turning the knob off and back on. 🙌🏼 thought I needed to buy a new one. Thanks for your help! 😊
Is there any way to reverse the compressor without “annie”? Other fixes for a locked up compressor besides banging on it wirh a hammer?
with utmost respect, you look and sound like johnny knoxville
I can’t hear what you’re saying bc of David Bowie song. Cool song, but I couldn’t hear the info.
Teachers like this make me wanna go back to school 😂 perfect .
Wow. This is a teacher.
I hate these things, for the very reason that they bond the condenser coil to the inside of the back panel. It reduces condenser efficiency and is harder on the system as a whole. They do the same thing to the condensers on newer residential chest freezers.
This is a great informative video for the diyers of the world
Nice class, one thing about the cooling tower, every 17 years the cicada show up. Most of you Guys, including the instructor, might not of been old enough to ever seen this happen. I remember 1986, 1987 have to clean the cooling tower every week or so it was only a three-story building a bakery there were thousands floating on the water just so you know 2024 the year of the cicada.
Great video, great teacher! My only criticism is that I wouldn't be leaning on the top of the metal fridge with one arm and hand while poking around inside it with the other when plugged in. I was taught to put one hand in my hip pocket whilst poking around live circuits, thus preventing a possibly deadly circuit through my heart.
Thank you so much trying to figure this stuff out online by reading a textbook was confusing
Bog props and much respect to this teacher. I am inspired to learn more of these skills simply due to his instruction and encouragement. His confidence and intuitive real time teaching is high level. Whomever you young folks are that learned from him over the years, you should be proud and honored to have had such a teacher. P.S. this helped me fix a free mini fridge. Thnx Peace N Love
