Congratulations, Jeff and Josiah, for addressing so well one of the most difficult issues of our day! In a modern world full of complexities and traps, I try to remind myself to keep the main thing, the main thing--that God loves everyone and that Jesus died for everyone's sins so His Holy Spirit can dwell in each of us to secure our eternal destination and to teach us about the benefits of righteousness over the course of a lifetime so we choose righteousness more and more in our daily lives. That's what I think I heard you say in your podcast--keep that message "the main thing" in this conversation. As a suggestion for other Mixed Messages topics, I'd like to suggest (1) a Christian's civic duties and (2) a Christian's secular work duties are equally complex topics that require wisdom in conversation, especially in today's world. While these topics are not "the main thing," how does a Spirit-led Christian navigate these areas of life when given the opportunity and/or duty to engage them? While we are, first and foremost, citizens of heaven, what does that mean in the context of civic, work, and family responsibilities? If these topics have already been addressed, would you point me in the direction of those podcasts or sermons that best answer these questions? Thanks, again!

Thank you for this conversation and the tenderness that was shown. I do have a question, I have a situation at work where my manager is gay and she is very open about it. She is significantly younger than me and I have always treated her with respect. I am conflicted as to how or what I am supposed to do when she is talking about her fiance and wanting to share with me the excitement she feels about getting married. I don't want to condone but at the same time I don't want to come off as a judgmental Christian. I truly feel stuck in the middle.

I was(am) a drug addict who was addicted to pain pills 14 years ago I went from rock bottom losing my girlfriend with 2 kids in and out of jail to my old room at my moms house broke jobless and no reason to live. I met Jesus and put my faith in him because my ways were not working in less than 5 years got my family back bought a house and have a wonderful career and have been sober the last 14 years. You don’t get where you need to be and stop needing Jesus he is everything to me and the center of my marriage and life and I am thankful everyday to know someone loved me enough to take my sin. It is easy to stay content with Christ and no it has not been easy there have been many times I came close to backsliding but the Holy Spirit wouldn’t let me. Thank you Jesus for everything

I might be misunderstanding but it really keeps sounding like you're referring to "sinners" as your enemy, specifically in this case since you're talking about Pride month as people who have same-sex attraction, but then you're asking "how do I love these people who don't understand I want to love them?" That kind of talk is exactly why. So many Christians are so blinded by their need to evangelize that they are not creating any space for love. It falls very short of where you're describing wanting it to be.

When looking at and reading the platforms of the two parties in power today, in 2020 a Christ follower only had one option, and to vote for evil would have been unChristlike. One platform was clearly evil and ungodly, and the other one was not.

When Jesus talked about putting a Millstone around someone’s neck, I don’t think he was saying stay out of politics. Any More than Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were told to stay out of politics. I think William Wilberforce is a good example of Jesus being in politics. I don’t think the black robe regiment in the military struggle against Britain would have been looked at unfavorably.

It was the Corinthians’ abuse in observing the Lord’s Supper that prompted the Apostle Paul strictly to charge them to retain the Lord’s Supper as a spiritual observance, rather than a social activity (1 Cor. 11:20-22,33-34). As noted in Jude 1:12:: These people are blemishes at your love feasts, eating with you without the slightest qualm-shepherds who feed only themselves. They are clouds without rain, blown along by the wind; autumn trees, without fruit and uprooted-twice dead. In many ways their artistic nature allowed the love feasts to give sway into Greek orgies. Now personally, I usually give my artwork away for free and ask them to donate to a church or some other social group. But they should do it with a pure heart in Christ. I don't even bother haggling anymore. Please forgive the cursive slang, but many ‘dumbasses’ need our prayers because they consider it a myth that we have to spend money in order to make it. They don’t care for anything beyond themselves.

The parable of the 10 bridesmaids is multi-level. The didactic teaching is "be prepared! The consequences are severe!" The prophetic message: We are NOT the bridesmaids. We are the bride. The bride is within the door with the bridegroom. All of her. She did not leave a leg or a hand outside with the foolish bridesmaids.

What a great message! When you get it that God even loves the serial killer, it is humbling. When you can look at someone with compassion and not judgement and pray for them, then you are headed in the right direction.
