Hi! For example the EURAMET Calibration Guide No. 18 says that (quote) "... the test is performed with at least one test load which should be selected in a reasonable relation to Max and resolution of the instrument... ". So there is no any strict rule. In some cases the weight is close to the max of the instrument, but it can be also on any important part of the range. Please read some more in the article here: blog.beamex.com/weighing-scale-calibration-how-to-calibrate-weighing-instruments For many other instrument types, the hysteresis is commonly tested in the middle of the range. Hi, thank you for a very informative video as always. I would just like to know if it is sufficient to calibrate the output of the transmitter only or must we do the calibration for the sensor and transmitter separately?
@BeamexCalibration5 ай бұрын
Hi! That is a very good question. Both methods are being used. So you can calibrate the sensor+transmitter combination, and if that is within accepted tolerance, then it is ok. If there is too big error, then you need to check if the error is from the transmitter or from the sensor. Please check e.g. this video for that kind of case with sensor+tranmitter: kzread.info/dash/bejne/e6KGpZuwkcKoprg.html In some cases customer do also perform a "whole loop calibration", i.e. they put the sensor into a dry block and then record the final display in the control room. This way all components of the measurement loop gets checked at one calibration. Obviously, if there are too big errors, then each component in the loop needs to be checked. Hope this helps. Hi, we like to follow the international definition of calibration which is "documented comparison against an accurate reference standard", and the adjustment/trimming is a separate process. In this video we did not adjust the sensor, and most often that is not even possible - instead you calculate the correction coefficients that can be used in the measuring device to correct errors. Thanks,

A dry block can be used to calibrate a temperature sensor. The selection to use internal or external reference sensor depends on the accuracy requirement of the sensor to be calibrated. If the Pt100 to be calibrated is very accurate, it is recommended to use a high accuracy external reference sensor.

HI, thanks for your comments. I agree with you. In this application the Pt100 sensors are calibrated comparing them against the calibrated internal reference sensor of the dry block. As mentioned in the video, you can also use an external reference sensor, which typically enables better accuracy (smaller uncertainty). The selection between internal or external reference depends on the uncertainty requirements of the sensor to be calibrated. Thanks!
