I use the same Sony Headphones! Mine are more than 20 years old. Great cans.
Yeah, I love 'em. Been using 7506s since they first came out in '91. I currently own two pair (at one point, I had three, but I'm not sure where the third (oldest) pair disappeared to. I have replaced the ear-cups on these two. Otherwise, they're just like the day they came out of the box.
Don't let those synths sit there use them! I've got ones that are away but its a space issue...Ideally I'd have every synth hooked up😭
The "primary" synths, the Polybrute and the Take 5 do get used a lot. Most of the other will certainly see use again! A couple are on the bubble, so to speak. I may let them find their ways to new homes.
YO!! yeah GAS has become worse as we have devolved into a society with the attention span thats as long as an instagram video..
It certainly has! I am, largely, content with what I have for now. There is certainly little that I need. The rule for new acquisitions here at this point is that anything new has to offer something unique -- either in the way that sounds are produced, or more importantly, in the sound itself. Thanks for the views! See ya soon!
Hi hi hi, catching replay now
Cool!
Thank you for this video, exactly the info I was looking for. Nice work, you deserve more subscribers and views! ✌️
Thanks so much! I'm glad it helped you!
Glad you got the Keylab sorted!! 😁
Thanks Anna! Me too!
It’s a good things when things work good.
Indeed it is!
Wow. That’s was quite a session Gerner 😊
Thanks! It was something, that’s for sure.
Awesome work! Thanks for the sneak peek behind the Iron Curtain.
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it.
This is sooo nice!! Vital is such a great synth!! 😎
Thanks Anna! Yeah, Vital is a lot of fun and very versatile -- does more than a lot of VSTis that cost a lot more and sounds great, too. Upgrading to the "Pro" version is absolutely on my "list." Cheers!
Super fun! It’s so nice to rewatch it from a different perspective and know what you were doing! :)
Indeed! Fun and informative. I'd love it if there were a way to get us all in the same space. That would be a blast! I've got a bit of catching up to do on watching everyone elses streams, though. Been busy today with a honey-do or two and also trying to figure out why the new Keylab controller behaves differently inside and outside of Ableton. Cheers!
great stuff, Geren! apologies for not calling in to comment sooner 😊
Thanks, Andy! I'm delinquent in getting around to everyone's streams, beyond getting all the links so I can share everyone's streams on my web site. Fun times, and hearing all the slightly different versions is really interesting. Cheers!
Thanks for an amazing jam! So much fun! 🙂
Thank you, Anna! Group jams are always a blast!
Great that you were part of this synth collective, good job Geren!
Thanks Rich! It's always fun making music in a group!
Very chill; a big Thank You 👍
Glad you enjoyed it, and thanks for listening! Cheers!
I've played with an Osmose at a trade show and the expressivity with the side to side movement is brilliant, could've played with it for hours and it has the same thing with the key bed being responsive from a light touch. This new key bed does seem like it would be more universal though. Interested to see where both of these approaches go.
I played the Osmose at Knobcon last year -- it is a fabulous instrument to play. People had said they thought it was difficult getting used to the keyboard, but I didn't find it difficult to play at all. I agree with you about the Arturia approach. It's certainly more approachable by folks who are just coming into MPE from having just aftertouch. I also wonder how much additional challenge there is in implementing the per-key vibrato on an analog synth vs. a digital one... Cheers!
came here to see the girl. i did not though. so not.
Nope, just some fat old guy making synth music, just like in every one of my videos. Sorry to disappoint. Have a great day!
Never going going watch anything with an AI thumbnail
OK. Have a great day!
I’m here to listen so AI thumbs are ok by me.
Thanks, and thanks for hanging out during the live stream!
This is going right on my playlist. -grabs popcorn-
Thanks!
enjoying this, Geren up to half way through and I need to get on with stuff, so will catch up with the rest later cheers andy
Thanks Andy! Yeah, as is often the case, I went longer than I expected! I just get into it and start having fun!
This was a total blast. :) We'll do it again at some point.
Agreed. I like the idea of doing it monthly, or maybe every other month.
What a great nerd collective, very good jam Geren.
Thanks, Rich! We all had a blast!
thank you so much for being a part of this, Geren! it was a blast of epic proportions 😀
Yeah it was! I'm looking forward to the next one!
This was amazing! Sounds so gooood! Was super fun!! 😁💜
It sure was fun! A great time and a great jam!
Excellent synth music. Subscribed
Thanks George -- glad you're enjoying! And thanks for the sub!
Geren!!! This was so much fun. Thank you! 🎉🎉
It sure was! Thank you for facilitating!
Thanks for demoing the Myth VST - I was undecided until i listened to your session. Thank Geren 🙂 LOve this jam at 55:30+
Thanks! I wish it could have been a better demo! As I said, I'd only had a couple of hours to muck around with it, and a few things weren't as I'd expected. But hey, we learn! I know I love the sound. So, you say you were undecided before seeing my stream, but you didn't say /what/ you decided .... did you go for it?
Yes. I bought it just after your video. Digging into it later today. The first hour working with it was a bit confusing but I think I got the jist now 😊
Cool! I'll look forward to hearing what you come up with. I spent a couple of hours with it last night. Nothing "pretty" came out, but I was not exactly coloring inside the lines....
nice chat plus sounds, Geren 🙂👍
Thanks, Andy!
Love the video talks, Myth was cool, Vintage was... weirdly bad for its basic patch lol, and the hardware jams sound good. What else could we want? Hope you get some sleep in after Vegas.
Glad you liked the stream, Rich! Myth is very cool ... and a little strange. Late last night I did figure out how to assign a mod source to a parameter. I'll have some more time to futz around with it over the next few days. In the meantime, I've got some other music to get finished and released! No rest for the wicked, or the weary. Cheers!
Wouldn't you know it... as soon as I have the money for it, that Take5 is sold out everywhere. D'oh!
The demo unit is still available at Sweetwater….
great jam and chat stream, Geren I managed to listen to the full thing while at work today now I need to know what NDI means 🤔
Glad you enjoyed it! NDI is an enhanced video-over-IP protocol developed by Newtek/Visrt, initially for connecting, controlling, and synchrozing video cameras with a Newtek Tricaster. You can also now use it to bring NDI sources into OBS (and OBS can, itself become an NDI source). And, the NDI Tools apps can allow iPhones and iPads to become NDI cameras. In the case of the camera I'm using right now, with an appropriate network switch, power to the camera can also be provided over the network cable. So, on cable to the camera carries power, audio, video, and control.
@@GerenM63 thanks for the explanation Geren 👍 I don't think it is something I can use here but have to check
@@synkrotron The question I'd as is "Do you even need it?" I personally think that you've got things pretty well covered. In my case, I wanted to be able to use a single camera to provide multiple angles, and I'm limited in the number of inputs on my switcher. I don't use the NDI functions of the camera -- my switcher doesn't support it, so I've got separate HDMI, power, and control cables coming out of the camera.
@@GerenM63 yeah, my setup is working, as it currently stands, but I would like another couple of cameras really, mainly for close-ups
@@synkrotron In your shoes, if you just want a couple of extra cams for close-ups, a couple of decent webcams would probably just fine. OBS will see them almost automatically. And, they're small enough you could wedge them in almost anywhere.
That PTZ camera is the star of the show now, amazing how versatile it is.
It's certainly convenient. Next step is the ability to have chat on screen, but I think that's going to require yet another computer....
Rough start, Geren, gremlins tend to find live streamers more than others. Good that you still pushed through.
As I mentioned on the stream, the whole day was just fraught with weirdness. And, specific to the stream, probably down to my lazyness with the Ableton Live project -- it's still the one I setup and have been piling onto since the end of December. Time for a clean slate!
Thanks for this Geren. You've reminded me to look into Vital more deeply. I particularly like the way you stacked modulation
I'll look forward to hearing what you come up with! I think I might have one more Vital live stream in me -- I came up with a couple of other things that I think are pretty cool and worth a looking at.
Back when I used Vital for the first time, I knew very little about synthesis and modulation. A few years later, watching your stream, I realise how good it actually was all that time, but I just forgot about it. Good talk, Geren.
Thanks Rich. Vital is, indeed, a powerhouse -- proof that you actually can get something for nothing! In this case, a whole lotta something! Cheers!
Thank you so much! what a great series. i hope more parts are coming....😋
Thank you! I’m glad you’re enjoying them! Definitely more to come.
Great video! thanks for the shout out! ❤
Thanks so much, Antonio! And thanks for the sub!
Great use of Vital's LFO, nice demonstration of that new reverb, good talks. I can not watch you live as I am deep asleep at those hours, but this was fun as a late viewer too.
Thanks Rich. Sorry I can't do it at a more hospitable hour for you, but glad you enjoyed the replay.
Naughty BOy Geren 🙂
🤣
oh you tease, Geren!
Well, yes. Yes I do! :)
Great! Refreshing sound, I like the composition a lot!
Thank's doc! 😉
The nice thing about your ATEM device is that the stream did not stop while your computer was restarting. Good! It has been a while since I used Vital and you reminded me how much fun it is to use, such a great user interface. I really enjoyed the Roland Pad you created. Wavetables rule!
The ATEM was not exactly perfect either, in this instance -- but probably not the fault of the ATEM itself. Because of the way I'm set up, I did lose the mic during the reboot, not that I said anything while I was rebooting. I really like Vital a lot for it's ease of use and clarity of design -- and most anything I've made with it sounds great. Downfalls (for me) are that it plays marginally with Komplete Kontrol, it doesn't have a true sequencer on-board and that it's oscillator types are a little limited (no granular, or instance). Still, it's a great tool. And, once I remember how to use it to make wavetables, I should be able to use it to make wavetables for re-use in Pigments or other wavetable synths. I'm glad you liked the ROLAND pad -- but it's not finished yet! Next time, I'll work on making it more "playable" by adding things like modwheel and aftertouch support and assigning macros.
Okay always nice to see another episode where you dive deeper into a patch. I will watch.
It'll be coming on the 26th (unless I decide to sneak one in sometime this Monday)! BTW, as I mentioned in our chat on Discord, I did find the hidden command to make wavetables from a preset, and also was able to load one I made with Vital directly into Pigments.
Good!
Garen!! I missed while I was wiring my rack... 😢
No worries, Jeff. It was kind of a hot mess ... technical issues ... LOL! Still ended up with some decent info, though. More in a couple of weeks.
congratulations on getting to and completing Jamuary 2024 Day Thirty One, Geren 🙂👍
Thanks, Andy!
Garen!! Day 31!!!!!
YO, JEFF! Day 31 indeed! Woohooooo!
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🤩
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it!
Lots of variety in this session Geren, yet still cool and relaxed. Lovely stuff 😊
Thanks so much!
