Hey Yall, I'm Russell.
What we do: Will it start, budget rescue, cheap cars and trucks, Copart walk arounds - plus homestead stuff and skills your grandparents knew, and parents forgot.
I'm a regular all-American kind of guy. I drink my coffee black. I'm a family man. I fix things. We have chickens and look forward to the day we can have more land and animals. I fix old, cheap and often forgotten things. I love a good auction. I buy too many cars at Copart and love to camp.
Just a heads up - the Amazon links in my videos might have affiliate links, and if you make a purchase, I could earn a small commission. No pressure - and I promise I will tell you my honest opinion of whatever is going on.

So I did the 3 battery set up but seems my batteries are draining quicker now. Any ideas an I went to a bigger gage wire ?
I didn’t think I was this stupid but how are you charging the batteries
WOW!!!!!
The thing I see that stands out is, I see 6 batteries in there, 12 volts yes, but 6 batteries. 3 in parallel with 3 more , so still 36 volts and more amps , but no weight savings at all. I used 3 deep cycle marine batteries for 36 volts. We don’t run it long distance but it goes good and only chargers it about once a week.
Can I use 3 lithium batteries of 12 v, 76 ah? Can it work?
Abetted bid is scam master nothing else
Why the Lester summit charger ? I seen on Amazon the chins battery and charger combo for $950. What’s wrong with their charger ?
I'd love to get my hands on the Chins charger - it was not out when I got my battery. I think anew project cart may be in order!
Can you put everything needed in the kit for a conversion in the comments please.
What app did you use for this test? Everyone I find is a joke!
So I’ve decided I want to do this conversion. Can you put out a video that speaks more to everything that needs to be installed ?
Installed one of these CHINS for the Mother-in-Law. Pretty good I must say, stock everything else. 2008 EZGO TXT-PDS. I didn't want her to need to open an app to monitor status and installed an LiTime Monitor with Shunt. I may not have ever known there was an issue had I not installed the add-on monitor but the REGEN is apparently not regenning.... the LiTime monitor records the REGEN amps going back to the battery (which is reporting 99% Remaining) but BMS is reporting 62% remaining (kinda what I expect without the regen). Haven't found a tweak to remove the regen calculation for the status in the monitor or on the battery to accept the regen charge. Any thoughts?
Oh man, I have no good insight. We swapped out our controller with the Navitas because the OEM was toast. I know the Navitas has a programmable regen setting, but I'm unsure if you can adjust the EZGO. How do you like the shunt? I'm thinking about putting one on my RV.
Mine was # in circle. What does that meant.
Hey bro! I saw in your video a truck loading 3 cars at once. Could you please guide how to order such truck in U-Haul or somewhere else ?
Not sure I know how to help with that one. I’ve used u-ship but that was for a single vehicle.
Would it handle a 600 amp navitas
I'm not sure. Our cart was using the navitas 440 with no issue. I think the 48v battery is rated to discharge 500a at once. Will the navitas consume all 600 at once?
Those things are absolute JUNK! I've had two fail that are a little over a year old. Tried to do warranty claim and they have been giving me the run around for 2 weeks, every time you give them information they want more and respond two days later. STAY away from this junk, it's going to cost you more in the long run.
What do you recommend?
@@chentez1 good question! I liked the lithium batteries when they worked, much lighter and the voltage is constant until it dies. I bit the bullet and bought an Eco Battery, the price has come down a little but still paid 2800 bucks! Time will tell if it was the right decision....
I can't speak to his experience but ours has been rock solid for a year. My in-laws are not exactly kind to it and its held up.
Yeah, it sure is crazy. Both vehicles we’ve bought from Copart had bent up and damaged exhaust pipes from being loaded like this.
Hi mate what does this mean R CIRCLED I CIRCLED n circled
We need more vids!
I haven't finished watching your video yet but had to stop and say thanks for clearly explaining the series wiring set up. Just bought an old cart I plan on Restoring but before I do I'm gonna go out to my camper van and fix the wiring set up that's been wrong for 10 years. Iyiyiyiy
You are welcome!
What about TW
How’s the shipping process? Any trouble getting your car delivered?
Absolutely zero issues with delivery. I've booked two in state and one from 3 states away. They have all been great.
Need to add a 6 to 1 planetary gearset between the motor and flywheel. Will reduce the lose to the piston while still firing around the same rate.
I have some oil leak from the cap on my Subaru forester 2009. Should I take it off, (would it have oil flushing if I take the cap off?) or some people said apply a layer or two of permatex ultra grey or black? What do you recommend, I am thinking about applying some ultragrey/black while the cap is still in its place to fix the minor leak? What should I choose ultra grey or black or replace the cap?
I think if it were me, and the oil was seeping not running.....I'd put brake or parts cleaner on a rag, wipe it down good then put a little RTV over it. Smear it in good with a finger. Grey or Black will work. My thought process is if its just a drip, I'm going to try easy before I try harder. If it stops that's a win. If it does not stop we've not invested a lot of time or effort. Good luck!
@@BootstrapRevival thank you, I will try that today!
Hi, what amp hour batteries did you use, I am looking at 12v 170ah.
I used marine dual purpose (starting/deep cycle) batteries. They are rated at 690 MCA which is marine cranking amps. I have no idea how many amp hours they are.
I installed 3 group 31's on my ezgo shuttle and I drive through my neighborhood 2 to 3 times a day plus the kid driving and it lasts me just fine for what I do
So it say three batteries but it’s six in there?
I did this for the first time today. the guy up at Cleveland West are super fast
This type battery is no good
i just replaced 6- 8V batteries with one Chins 48V 100AH similar to your. I hook it up, and nothing. Do I need to adjust something on the BMS. I heard you mention REGEN set to zero. I see all kinds of options in the settings, protections and delays, but don't know which one might be causing issue? When i turn the key, and put it in reverse, that awful sound comes on; so some power is clearly in the system. But when I hit the pedal, no movement. Any thoughts?
Are you seeing voltage across the terminals with a meter?
LEAD is a terrible pollution. We tool lead out of paint and gas why use heavy , short life lead acid batteries Compare how long they last. Lead is about 1 year life. Lithium are 8 to 10 years.
How much did u buy the car for
I think the winning bid was $1,300.
So happy to have caught your video. Glad to know there's something that can be done with my CD4E transmission without pulling it. What book are you referring to? a service manual? Also curious what sent you to that shift solenoid, what were your transmission symptoms? Anyway, thanks for taking the time and being real.
I had a shift flare. I was using the Ford service manual. I got a short subscription to All Data DIY specifically for this issue. www.alldata.com/diy-us/en
Do I need both the autobidmaster and copart membership licenses? Or do I only need the autobidmaster?
You don't need both. You can do it with autobidmaster if you are not going to inspect it. According to the support docs a proxy user can inspect if they pay a per vehicle fee. I've not tried it so I can't verify.
So have you bought another Chins for a cart other than this one?
Just got my Walmart batteries today so excited
Do the math watt, amp & voltage. And how many times can you recharge it and charger make compatible with batteries. Hey just going to buy a new set of 6 volt batteries Costco. Time on the internet.
Remove ok, but how replace for a new piece?
My engine was out when I did mine. You can do it in car. I used a large socket and tapped it back in.
I Love That
Nice range test! It looks like you are short circuiting 3 terminals with the metal plate in the middle holding the batteries in palce. battery 4 negative, 5 possitive & 6 negative. Even if ther is a small margin between the plate and terminals you should consider waht happens when ther is a bump in the reoad and over time displacments of the batteries.
I completely agree - however this one is plastic and non conductive.
The theory behind using 6 volt batteries was the amount of plates/AH available because there was only three cells leaving more room for plates instead of dividers for the 3 extra cells. I have no idea if that is still true or if it even was true back in the day.
So my question is if it was originally a 24 V system how do you keep from burning the motor up with 36 V?
Its a 36v cart. It came with 6 6v batteries.
ford parts? I'd worry if they were chryster/dodge
Am I able to make a 60v with a chins battery. Says not to do more than 4 batteries in a series but wondering?
No because the BMS they use has certain voltage mosfets that will not support over 48v.
I put the same battery into my Ezgo txt and so far it is working great
I have a 1999 EZGO. I am looking to upgrade, mine is 36v. Can you recommend where you got the wires, bus bars, charger and battery modem and size.
Sure would have liked to know how far with all 6 batteries
Why you run on three batteries if they are six.
It was for a test. I wanted to know how far 3 batteries would take me. I also had a wrench on hand so I could swap to the other set of 3 so I could drive the cart home and not push it. We are running all 6 on the farm. Thanks for watching!
I always worry about cheap lithium batteries and fires ???
Can I ask what was the reason you bought the DC DC converter? Was that the add extra lights?
Yes, it was for the front LED light bar and backup light. It’s used on the farm often after dark. You could just attach the positive and negative to one 12v battery and work fine - I wanted to load all the batteries evenly.
I have that exact cart wanting to convert it to 3 12s
Let us know how it goes!
my transmission only works on cold start, but dont work when hot. any advice
Oh man, I'm sorry to hear that. I have no advice.
