    After having seen yet another annoying reference to American politics, I gotta be honest: why did you complain in your first video that the show seems to put politics into their show, yet you can't stop yourself from doing the same? This video would be soe much better without it. Gonna stop watching now, because I'm done with politics being inserted everywhere. Americans, seriously... 😒

    They are only using the names of the charachters and the most general and vague structure of Tolkien's mythos. If that is what they wanted, they could as well create a completelly new world and history, at least the number of contradictions would be minor.

    The horror. The horror. I saw this disgusting pile of cat sh*t in an empty theater in 2016. The ushers kept checking in to see if I was still there. And I followed this turd all the way down to the bottom of the sewer, all to shut up the women I knew who criticized me for ripping on the movie without having seen it. So I saw it. Now I'm only watching Hollywood burn to the ground because of its Woke nightmare and feeling the dark satisfaction of a man who's lost everything but lived long enough to see the evil forces suffer and die. So...I got that going for me. Which is nice.

    OME (Oh my Eru) I was impressed and entertained with the writing and presentation of these videos MUCH more than the ridiculously sophomoric attempt of the ROP travesty! I think the great JRR Tolkien himself would have rather enjoyed a few chuckles while watching your videos in defense of his literary genius. I envision Professor Tolkien exclaiming, “Ha! Well done, lad! Jolly good!” as he takes a couple puffs of his Old Toby from beyond the Grey Havens. 😁

    Like you mentioned, the whole thing started with an idea, and that's the entire problem. Before there was ever a story or a script, we got the director's idea that he wanted to swap genders and remake the Ghostbusters movie. That doomed and limited the movie right there. The whole thing was based on a gimmick. It was never going to take a respectful look at the film, or make an intelligent interpretation. It was always intended as a quirky parody. The story was secondary. Everything was backwards. He chose his dream team of actresses, THEN came up with the story. That's not how award winning reboot films are made. I am not sure the problem was the amount of comedy, per se. The problem was that the comedy was sub par. The film was passable, if you took out the intentional attempts to be funny. I think the biggest thing to hurt the film was the "Us Vs. Them" marketing, and the implication that you HAD to see the film, to prove that you weren't a bad person and that you were a true fan of the series.

    Overall a video with mostly well presented criticism, although some nitpicks are unnecessary I think. And I have to very much disagree with the notion that Tolkien's Elves are basically like angels, or supposed to be like angels. They are definitely not.

  • @TheGourdKing
    @TheGourdKing2 ай бұрын

    First, thank you for the comment as I always appreciate engagement with my work. I believe I said they were similar to angels rather than they were supposed to be precisely like them. Nor did I suggest or intend to suggest this was Tolkien's intention. I'm not drawing a 1-to-1 comparison but rather making a helpful comparison to illustrate that they share similarities with angels (Biblically and artistically) that they do not share with common man, such as immortality, higher wisdom, and aspects of their appearance (though this would be more on the artistic front, hence why I showed a painting of an angel and Galadriel in Jackson's Fellowship of the Ring). I do not know which criticisms you see as nitpicks though it is worth noting that some things I point out are in service to jokes and in isolation I might not otherwise make a fuss over them.

  • @Lothiril
    @Lothiril23 күн бұрын

    I can't remember whatvI perceived as nitpicks, but in any case it were just a few, so nothing drastic. 🧐 In regards to Elves being similar to angels - I disagree with that idea because while they may be beautiful and long-lived to the point of being basically immortal, they are nonetheless very earth-bound and at times also very flawed people. In Tolkien's mythos there are the Valar or Maiar who rather take the role of angels, being in essence far more beautiful than any elf, and in their origin truly immortal and from beyond the world.

    Roughly every other line in the dialog is dumb. Nori says they can't leave the stranger in the meteor crater because wolves will get him. As if wolves traditionally love to jump into new meteor craters, ignoring the glowing rocks and two dozen small fires burning, in order to find a likely food source.
