Thank you, changed batteries out and did the trick
My thermostat goes blank most of the time, and comes back on occasionally. Any ideas on what to do?? Thanks I replaced the batteries, same deal.
Just the batteries!! Thank you so much for posting this!!
There are also fuses on the circuit board, could be in line, which might be blown. I looked at 23 youtube videos on this topic today and amazed not one mentioned this blade type fuse. That was our issue. Replaced and everything is working now, canceled appointment with HVAC person. 75 cent fix.
I have a t3 Honeywell thermostat with only 4 wires red, green, orange, yellow how would i wire that
Red power (24v), Yellow cooling, Green fan, White heating, Blue common
Thanks. "What does "check the batteries" mean? Yes, it has batteries, so what? 😂
My doesn’t have batteries
Then you need to check all the other things that would cut power 24vac from the red wire. Open door switch, tripped circuit breaker, blown 3 amp fuse on furnace board, safety temp sensor in furnace, overheating, tripped overflow switch, wrong thermostat wiring after replacement, batteries if the thermostat is powered by them,
@@bobsoft i bought another thermostat and it worked. It was the thermostat.
My daughter has a carrier unit. The thermostat will go blank and then the unit starts a clicking noise. You have to turn the thermostat to the off position then back on to get it to wake it up.
Sounds like a bad relay in the thermostat.
Thank you so much!! Your video was a lifesaver!! My device doesn’t have batteries so I flipped the breaker switch for heater and it worked!! My screen came back on and I had AC again!! Never would have guessed it was the heater breaker. Can’t really be going without AC in these hot Texas summers!!
Thank you so much for this video ! Definitely the batteries !
Mine was the furnace door switch was not making a connection when the door was closed. Had to play with it for 20 minutes to get it connecting properly again.
Thank you !
Leaving the circuit breaker off for 30+ minutes seemed to help. Thank you!
This video saved me tonight!!!!! Thank you thank you thank you!!!!!
My condenser pump failed, and my drain pan was full of water, which tripped the overflow switch. Thank you for your help!!
Thank you so much, pan was filled with water.
It was my breaker. It didn't show it had tripped but shut it off and on again and it's working like new. We did have a pretty good thunderstorm yesterday with alot of lightning here in Northern Texas. Thank you very much for your time and expertise.
So glad to be of help!
Thank you! That was very helpful!
Forgot about the pan level switch. Thanks!
Life saver, thanks
Thanks for the video!!! It was the battery. Very simple.
Had mine go blank and replaced the batteries and cleaned drain pan. Still didn't work. I almost gave up when I realized there was some corrosion on the battery terminals I cleaned them off then it started working again.
Thank you, thank you thank you!!! We woke up to a cold house. Husband is recovering from hospitalization, and at 75, he is always cold. I found your you tube, and tried the first thing you said, change batteries....IT WORKED! SAVED US $$ AND STRESS. 3 DAYS BEFORE THANKSGIVING.
We are so happy to hear this! We hope your Thanksgiving is warm and cozy 😊
@@StanfieldAirSystemsAthens You're awsome, responding to old videos.
This was very helpful, thank you.
Thank you so much. Easy to understand, simple to do. It was the batteries. My service rep was going to charge 89.00 plus any parts that needed to be replaced.
Where is the pan located
Thanks! Funny, I have been here for years and this happened fir the first time! It was the batteries
Thank You
Thank you…Your video solved my problem😊
The drain pan how would that make the screen go blank lol
Drain pan has a limit switch which turns off the power to the thermostat (24vac)
Thank you!!!! I had accidentally bumped the furnace switch in the attic.
LIFE SAVER!! I never would have guessed it was the heat one that needed to be switched. THANK YOU!
How can I open the Emerson thermostat
Please tell me how to open my Emerson thermostat
Thank you! Didn't know it ran on batteries. Changing the batteries worked for us.
I replaced batteries I did the thingy with the breaker switch for the heat still no display I even checked the pvc pipes for water no water I changed the filters every month it’s not that .could it be time for a new thermostat ?
My drain pan was dry, but I added some white vinegar to the drain line and that loosened a clog and allowed my thermostat to start again
So glad you were able to get your system going again!
Thank you so much. I must have moved or touched the drain pan switch cleaning around the AC unit. It was sticking up!

This video was a lifesaver! 🙏🏻
Thank you so much
00:22 I wish I could check the state of batteries just by looking at them too.
What if my thermostat didn’t have batteries in it for the last year & half & it just went blank & stopped working . I took the thermostat front off & seen it never had batteries but it does have a place for batteries. My question is should I just put batteries in it although it has worked without batteries or do you think it could be something else & I should just get a professional
This!!
For me it turned out to be the drain pan in the attic. Thank you VERY much! You are beyond awesome!
We turned off the circuit breakers and it did not turn back on the blank screen of the thermostat. checked the batteries they’re fine, where is that water pan? The fuse box are in the basement, the air conditioning system is outside, there’s no attic to go to, where is this water pan at with the switch please? 90° today please, help 🙏🤝❤️
Very good simple advice. Mine was the circuit breaker, switched on and off. It’s fixed!
Thank you so much!!! We just changed the batteries and we're good! You're a life saver!
THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!!!!!
Thank you. Water backed up due to debris (rust) in the drain pipe and caused the safety switch to turn off my display. I dried the water and my display and AC started working. I was told to pour a 1/2 cup of bleach in the drain pipe to clean out the gunk.
The replacing the battery thingy is just wrong. Each thermostat is hard wired to the house electrical system. I woke up this morning, with the thermostat blank. Since it's hard wired, it's obvious, that it's not getting power. I put batteries in the thermostat, to see what the temp was inside the house, but other than that.....the batteries DO NOT start the furnace, if the thermostat is not getting main power from the house electricity. In my case, it's probably the thermostat that went kaput. I'll be calling a service person shortly, when they open.
Not all thermostats are hardwired to electric. Some use batteries
A few words to say thank you for your video, it helped me resolve the thermostat problem. Much appreciated.
Talks about how it could be the breaker but doesn’t even bother to show that process what a joke no help…
