M-Wagen, P-Wagen, dazu die damals ersten nagelneuen R-Wagen, heute 2024 auch schon im Verschwinden, dazu Kopfsteinpflaster, vertrautes Getriebeheulen statt Elektronikfiepen, ach, au weh, vorbei die schöne Zeit...

Well Done Video! So much character and atmosphere! It was captivating and I couldn't stop watching! I was 4 years old in 1986 so quite young. However my very first memories in life were absorbing in that world like a sponge, the music, the vibe, I felt it all even at that very young tender age. In 1991 I was 9 years old and noticed the culture starting to change! Yes even at that young of age I noticed it! The music in particular became darker! Suddenly everyone was being sold a divisive degenerative version of themselves and their cultures. Many young people ate it all up and defended it as their norm too. I guess I was different because I always saw right through it. The lies, the slow break down of our society since that time. It happened so gradually that most people didn't even seem to notice. You don't take over the USA by direct force. You do it subversively slowly over time from the inside out. Couldn't be anymore obvious the weeds that were planted during that time coming to more full fruition these days! Current generations of young adults defending lies, darkness, and degeneracy as normal because they never really knew anything different.

so oft bin ich damit gefahren - von der Ampfingstr. zum Ostbahnhof (für uns damals d'Schdod) und vor allem in die Schule - ins Michaeli-Gymnasium .... Ist bei Euch der Beischl Christian? Hat damals in der Kraiburgerstr. gewohnt und war ein großer Trambahnfan - hatte sogar einen Tram - Trabbi ;-) Liebe Grüße aus Italien (seit 2018)

Wunderbar! Die P Wagen waren der ICE under den Straßenbahnen, die schnellsten Trams der Republik! Der Sound ist der beste aller Straßenbahnen der Welt.

1971 ist falsch! Da fährt unter anderen ein Passat B1 und ein DB W116. Das ist eher 1974 oder noch später. Bitte korrigieren.

The reconstructed film of NYC life in the 1890's are better and clearer than this garbage, of water towers, tops of buildings, shots so quick, you don't have a clue about what you've just seen. I lived there in '63-'65, 25th and Madison Ave. facing Madison Square Park, on the 5th floor of the long gone Madison Square Hotel. My dad was an electrician working on construction of The New York World's Fair. That is why my family was there. In mid- 1965, we moved back to Tennessee. I was born in Nashville, and raised there most of my life. Now I live 20 miles west of there, because just like native New Yorkers, I can't afford to live in my hometown either. ( not that I would now!)

NY Subway is a parallel world under the city streets. One is greeted by a very distinctive aroma upon entering the underground stations. Despite the air smells like the combination of piss and a homeless person's armpits, people gorge their takeout inside the train.

Wow, imagine filming with a big 10 lb. VHS camcorder on your shoulder walking around NYC and 30+ years later 1.1 million viewers are watching on this thing called You tube! Great quality footage, even from 1986. I used to ride those same (3) trains we saw here to & from high school everyday, from Van Siclen to Nevins. This was the time some of those trains were transitioning to become the graffiti-free Redbirds, as we saw here too. The (K) 8th Ave Local train was a very short-lived line, but I remember it well: one time we rode it uptown to 81 Street to visit Museum of Natural History. This was also during the pre-Metrocard era, when tokens still being used. All the above trains, turnstiles, lighting have been replaced by now. Thanks for the memories!

The nicest streetcar. As a teenager I rode uncountable times to downtown. Super good heat in the wintertime. At times you might have to help the driver in heavy snow with a frozen switch. Around 1968. Very smooth and a nice ride.

Bei 10:55 kann man es erahnen: der fürchterliche Gestank auf den Straßen. Ich war in den 70ern ein kleiner Knirps aber dieser Gestank, der bis in die Mitte der 80er Jahre anzutreffen war, den werde ich nie vergessen. Wer damals noch nicht dabei war kann sich das nicht vorstellen wie die Autos damals gestunken haben. Und geraucht wurde natürlich auch überall ohne Ausnahme.

Dass man damals erst eine komplett neue Trambahnstrecke abseits der Strasse neu gebaut hat, um sie wenige Jahre später wieder stillzulegen und direkt nebendran dasselbe nochmal als U-Bahn neu zu bauen, die dieselbe Strecke fährt, habe ich vom Gesamtgedanken her bis heute noch nicht verstanden. Rausgeschmissenes Geld irgendwie.

Von 1980 bis 1987 bin ich mit der 13er vom Hasenbergl zum Euroindustrie und dann mit den Bus weiter in die Arbeit. Nach der Arbeit haben wir uns immer ein Feierabendbier im Eurotreff gekauft .

An die Spatenwerbung kann ich mich noch gut erinnern . Auch im Anhänger mit dem Schaffnerhochsitz . Aber das war in den 70er. Da haben wir uns als Kinder immer hin gesetzt , wenn er gerade frei war. Ich weiß auch noch wie die Tram und Busfahrer Schnee geräumt haben weil die Weichen eingefroren waren . Da fuhr nichts mehr .

Ich bin selbst Münchner und 1956 dort geboren (Nähe Sendlinger-Tor-Platz). Die Aufnahmen stammen frühestens aus dem Jahr 1972, denn die gezeigte Fussgängerzone, den Kaufhof am Marienplatz oder etwa der Springbrunnen am Sendlinger-Tor-Platz gibt es alle erst seit jenem Jahr. Schöne Bilder 👍
