Hi, this is Dirk. I am a backgammon Super Grandmaster and Online Backgammon World Champion. In my videos I explain my decisions in real time while playing backgammon online.
You did stumble upon a couple of bugs though which I have fixed. Going from a custom board to recommended settings didn't clear the custom board settings. And a couple of other problems. Don't hesitate to ask for help if you get stuck with settings problems!

Thank you Terje. Just played on Heroes and everything was normal

With a custom board a reset won't be able to clear out all the old data so you'll have to reload the page anyway to clean up all changes made by the custom board.
@MrTerjepe2 күн бұрын
I can't say I know exactly why this happens but if you see something that isn't right you can often reload and enter again and things will be back to normal again. It may be related to having had the browser or app open for a long time but can't say for sure.

Surprisingly easy to follow even with my schoolboy-level German. Having watched a few in English, Dirk's educational style seems to be exactly the same in either language, and full of Dinglish expressions like "das ist ein huge pass" anyway. Another really instructive video.

This final game was a perfect example of why backgammon’s element of luck makes the game so exciting. The 6:1 then 5:1 then opponents 6:6 sequence was a wonderful display of the game’s unpredictability Loved the video. Best of luck in the Team Championships.

it's a pity the approach of only looking at your blunders means that your after-match analysis doesn't discuss the times when you made the correct move, despite being unsure. For example at 7m mark you were wondering if you should stay on the 18pt with your 55. You were behind in the race, and thought it might have been a mistake not to stay back. It never came up again in the analysis, which leaves me wondering, was it the correct move? or was it such a small error that it didn't get discussed? It surprises me that it wasn't a blunder because you were still 15pts behind after you moved your 55, but I guess with the opponent on your bar point, and with your timing advantage, it was not necessary to stay back.,
@dirkschiemann361019 күн бұрын
In long match there are many interesting spots. I don't want to spend too much time on the analysis so I focus on blunders and cube actions. Of course this means that I miss some spots. You can look up everything that interests you in the XG file.

this thinfs calls mindflips. we need to analyse also our mindflips (if you choose right but was not sure and your alternative decision was a blunder, which is means you make 50% of times maybe this mistakes, or lower or maybe higher tat 50% but in thhis particular moment you make right move)

With your 6-2 at 1:20:42 the correct play also gets you in range to cover your 5 pt with a 6- 5 roll for you to close him out if they dance.

I love your videos! The German ones are a little more challenging for me, is there something you can do to allow English subtitles? I only get the option for German subtitles and they don’t really clear anything up…
@tgwnn25 күн бұрын
Actually you can get the auto-translation! First you click on subtitles/closed captions (to the left of the cog) and then you click on the cog and then there will be an option to autotranslate to English. It is a bad UI since auto-translating should have been available right after clicking on the cog.
@tgwnn25 күн бұрын
I speak both German and English and had a look at the subtitles, they seem to be pretty good. When it says something about pash/pask, it's about doublets (double 1, double 2, etc).

It got Rennenvorsprung = "race lead" correct, I am quite impressed!
