  I like how Gon and Meruem reflect each other in a way in the arc. Gon become an emotionless unstoppable monster to kill someone. Meruem became a compassionate human being in order to save someone.

  This arc really was insane, we saw the absolute best of character development & a peaceful end for the king of the ants, while Netero, the "king" of the humans went nuclear, and the one we thought was the hero, Gon, absolutely lose his shit & commit suicide, even ready to leave behind Killua to get revenge. This story does such a good job of portraying both the good & dark side of humanity from even the characters we'd never expect it from, in a way that makes total sense. I really hope they continue this show eventually, it's a fucking masterpiece.

  Adding to the other comments, Meruem also died blind while Komugi died seeing Meruem for the first time. 😢 Edit: Also it would be more heartbreaking if Komugi died first while they are playing. 💔
