Got a good deal on a Gen 3 long block. Can I just swap Gen 1 timing components and be good? I don't really see people doing 3-3-1 builds for some reason
I’m not an expert but you should be good. Take this with a grain of salt but people use gen 2 heads because they flow the best, however since you have a gen 3 long block you should be able to just slap gen 1 timing components and call it a day.
I would do 3-2-1. Gen3 shortblock, gen2 heads, gen1 timing components. The gen2 heads were developed around the 302 Boss coyote and flow similar. Make sure you get some oil pump gears and arp hardware. Can't go wrong, you're already there.
After so much power and the inability to put it to the road with out slip
Yup, burnouts are fun
@@Oxman_Garage my stock 5sod corolla can do that
Usually I hear people using gen 1 blocks
No, not really
Most people swap the gen 3 bottom for a gen 2 cause the gen 3 is garbage
This is the first I'm hiring this.
Very nice
Looks good thinking about getting the chrome one
Funny thing is the T Bird is more of a GT type touring car than the Mustang GT.
Nice truck would look good with the ford emblem black oval kit off the ford website🤙🤙
Yes!!
Let’s go! I love love love it!
They make a tool to remove the bushing ( and housing) off the top of the rear. Much better than the way you removed them (air chisel & metal BFH).
Well, it worked, didn't damage anything and saved money
Hey what coupler did you use to attach the steering rod to the manual steering rack? I have a mark viii going to be doing similar build to yours but with a standard 5.0 coyote / aje k member and manual steering. Will be following your build for sure! Surprised you’re doing something very similar to what I want. I already have the qa1 coilovers and removed my sway bar. Going to be installing the manual rack next.
I have a custom DD steering shaft and joint. With my new LT headers Ill be doing something different. So I haven't figured it out yet. That's awesome! Id like to see your set up.
I had a 93 thunderbird. Was such a good handling car.
Do I have to use the arp bolts ? Can I get away using gen 1 12mm head bolts I’m doing same thing 3-2-1
It depends on what block you're using. Gen1 and 3 are 12mm bolts. You don't have to use arp. TTY bolts are fine too.
@@Oxman_Garage I’m using a gen 3 block for my gen 1 and sorry about the question but what is TTY? I’m tryna do the swap but arp bolts are out of my budget for now lol
Torque To Yeild. This are onr time uee bolts. You have to throw them out after you take them off the engine. The head bolts, cam cap bolts, main bolts, crank, oil pump, etc.
nice job thank you
Had a 89 SC and a 94 tbird. Cool swap.
Got my set from the dealer. Bought out of area a few years ago. Just getting to putting em on. They didnt give me hardware. Any idea where to get just the hardware?
You can try the dealership
I had a 97 Ford Thunderbird for 13 years with the 4.6 engine. Best car I ever had! Miss it!
Gracias me ayudaste a salir de mi problema 👍🏽😊❤
The poles are not made in U.S.A. it's made in China. I just got one and I'm pissed because I thought it was made here.
I try and support products made in the USA. This particular product is veteran owned and wanted to give it a try. Regardless, my flag pole is still standing since I made the video and withstood many storms with two flags.
97 Thunderbird Limited Edition
Best video I’ve seen on these by far.
Love the thunderbird videos!
Thank you! More coming!
Which part numbers from Ferrea are you using? The 6000 series?
The Competition Plus
@@Oxman_Garage do you happen to have the part numbers?
F2382P is the intake F2383P is the exhaust
@@Oxman_Garage thank you sir. That's what I came up with as well. So, you just lapped them in with the factory valve job?
I have everything in the right spot but my intake cam on the passenger side does not want to seat smooth almost like a cam lobe is hitting a rocker. Any suggestions please?
Put it in the position shown, even if the cam isn't all the way down. Start the tourqe procedure. If the cam moves, use a wrench on the flats of the cam to keep it in position.
@@Oxman_Garage awesome thank you sm
Oxman, I like this build. I’m thinking of doing the same thing since I have that same Husky. Only difference is I’ll probably do a .75 inch plywood top. Any idea what the height is on your bench before you added the 2x6 top boards? So basically the height to the top of your 2X4 cross member? I know you had to add spacers which obviously raised it. I just want to make sure that since it needs to be tall enough to fit the 30 inch tall husky, that when accounting for the other lumber, it won’t end up too tall for me. Basically, since I don’t know how high up the bottom cross member 2x4 sits above the ground on the Simpson, even when screwed in to it’s lowest position on the 4x4, that’s what could throw my calculation off. Figured I’d ask a guy who has done it. Thanks!
Thanks for the reply KDJUSA! I made the height of my bench roughly 36 inches. I wanted it to be half my height at 6 foot so Im not leaning forward.
You have any parts you took out for the new new motor swap you are selling ? Or do you know were to get good used parts
I have a few parts leftover from my old set up. Ill be selling a GEN1 Coyote F150 this summer. Check out my ebay for current parts. www.ebay.com/str/milwaukeemustangautoparts?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=k0tyd_i9r3u&sssrc=3418065&ssuid=k0tyd_i9r3u&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
Did you already put out that how to coyote swap a mn12 video?
How much ya want for that old fuel cell? I might even be local.. Washington county.
I'm asking 950 on FB, but if you're local Id do 900 pickup
A little rich for my blood atm, thanks for the reply though. FYI I have a 2001 ranger, push rod 5l, 72mm turbo. Guestimating 600-650hp.
@@Oxman_Garagea bit higher than I have the funds for atm. Thanks for the reply though. FYI I have a 2001 ranger with a push rod 5l and a 72mm turbski. Guestimating 600-650hp right now, on e85.
do you think the install of these skid plates woold hinder adding a FRONT 2 " receiver hitch like from draw-tite? It attaches to the frame. I have yet to see someone install BOTH the skid plates and a hitch- what do you think?
Im not sure, but this skid plate covers the air dam and front frame section. You would have to eye ball it and see if it will work.
@@Oxman_Garage Got it Thanks
Extremely helpful. Dumb question. On reassembly, im trying to torque the harmonic balancer. Summit says 103 ft lbs, back off 1/4 turn, then 74 ft lbs.....alldata says, 103 ft lbs, loosen 360 degrees, torque to 74 ft lbs after that, then go 90 degrees. Im worried about that. I'm trying to follow all of the instructions but i just feel like that's too much. Can you let me know which one is right?
Thanks! The first one you listed is correct. You got this! :) 103 lb. Ft. Loosen 360 74 lb. Ft. 90 degrees
@@Oxman_Garage awesome thank you man. Slapped it all back together and it runs like new. Followed alldata originally but finding your video gave me such peace of mind with physically seeing how you had it lined up compared to mine with the timing marks. One thing I can definitely say to anyone is use the proper tool for that crank pulley. I tried to using the install bolt from MMR and didn't have much luck unfortunately. Not sure if it was just me or if there was something I was doing wrong or what. Started feeling way too tight as I brought it in, I stopped and decided to rent the tool, lucky I did because when I took the MMR bolt out, it seemed it was trying to strip the threads either on the bolt or in the crank a little. Saw like 1 or 2 metal shavings. Rented the OEM tools balancer installer tool and it went on like butter. Barely had to use force, I guess because all of the force is applied to the nut and not rotating in the threads of the crank.
As always, they make the regular cougar look slower by giving the supercharge a head start.
Do you have anything left from the Coyote Swap? I have a ‘96 that I am wanting to swap and use as Pro Street car at a Strip.
I'm currently selling the AJE tubular K member, Fuel cell, lots of odds and ends from the old set up. www.ebay.com/str/milwaukeemustangautoparts?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=k0tyd_i9r3u&sssrc=3418065&ssuid=k0tyd_i9r3u&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
Thanks cool video so yeah im going to be buying a set of Ricaro seat's after watching this 😂 I've already got a rear seat delete kit in the car so I just need two fronts.
The kit is not for everyone, I enjoy the kit and think it looks great. Ricaros are cool too!
@@Oxman_Garage no it looks great I'm just too lazy lol
my 98 Mark since it has 272k miles and would rather drive it that my 96 Cobra Vert. And of course any of the Birds Awesome Bill drove! Great content guy!!!!!
Thanks Darrell, appreciate the support. Yes, love the Bill birds.
I need one so badly 🤦🏽♂️ Tks very much amigo
No problem, let me know if you have any questions
Put six lengths(2 runs of three) up end to end directly on the" tuba eights" on my unfinished garage loft ceiling rafters.Mounting screws suck, get better ones. They're very soft and tend to strip out even with a good fitting driver bit. The hard wire plugs they give you are too short to wire into a box so i cut the wall plug ends off of the wires with the switch and just hardwired those into the work box and mounted the two switches overhead for easy access close to the start of each run and can use them to have one run on and the other off if i choose. Tons of light now, works very good and inexpensive. Nice video. Thanks !
Tha k you, appreciate it. Yes the screws suck, I did use a longer better screw.
Nice build! I used to love Mn12s but there was never shit for good parts for them, so they fell out of favor for me. Very jealous, I'm sure this is going to be awesome! I live a little north of Milwaukee and currently have a 600hp sbf turbo 2000 ranger.
The before and after of clean cover is sweet
dream build
How long it took ?
Not long at all, check out Coyote Swap Cobra playlist for the engine assembly video.
Very nice
you'd be a real A hole not to bro!!
Can you do this without removing the engine? I just need to replace one broken exhaust phaser
Absolutely, you don't have to remove the engine. This can be done while the engine is in the car.
@@Oxman_Garage thank you, the car has only 50k km, but sadly the passenger side phaser is broken, the center pin that moves the valve is stuck and the phaser won't move from the fully advanced position. Beside the phaser, since I have to disassemble lot of parts, would you suggest to replace all the timing components, chains guides etc or replace just the phaser? I'd love to change it without removing the timing cover but I assume it's impossible. Thank you so much
What was your first thunderbird coyote swap video i cant find it
Check out my Thunderbird playlist
Good Choice! I had nitto’s on my 14. This time I went with Toyo at3 on my 22. I did some other changes too.. I think you will dig my interior ❤❤❤
I just checked out your interior video, I love the red seats, that's awesome!
@@Oxman_Garage thanks buddy! I love them!!
WHO would buy something like this that would likely take hours to put together - IF all the parts are there?! In the time it takes you to line up all the parts and assemble them, you could have crushed 150 cans with your feet and gravity. Not to mention that this device will probably have a working life of 3 or 4 months.
I would, and apparently thousands of people across the country. Mine is still working to this day with zero problems.
Do you have a parts list and what all you needed to have make the swap a success? And are you running a manual or automatic ? Im trying to get a baseline of cost on everything that varies in
Watch my Thunderbird playlist, you can get an idea of all the parts. You can do this swap cheap like 4-5k or super expensive. All up to your knowledge and fab skills.
@@Oxman_Garage thank you I appreciate it!!
What transmission do you run with your coyote swaps
On my Thunderbird, 6R80. On my Cobra TR3650
Would a Coyote 5.0 V8 swap work in a 2010 Fusion Sport fwd just wondered?
Yes, there's a Coyote swap Fusion out there. Couple videos of it running around. Do a google search.
