    New sub! What is that fabric called? I’ve been looking for the cream/black! Is it the Kente cloth. I’m not sure?!

  • @lesanndesigner
    @lesanndesignerАй бұрын

    Hello, this was a cotton African print. Kente cloth within that African print is a little more distinctive. I will be glad to do a video on the different versions/names of African print that I have come across in my years of sewing. But you may have a better chance of finding a cream/black in Mudcloth but it will be heavier.

  • @Arleathia
    @ArleathiaАй бұрын

    @@lesanndesigner so it’s called mud cloth!? I’ve been trying to find it & the name for a while. I luv that print! Tx much! Sweet inspirations & I’ll see you in your next video! Yes I know that cloth well! I just didn’t know the name!

  • @kindredcreativecorner6927
    @kindredcreativecorner6927Ай бұрын

    @lesanndesigner and mudcloth is much more expensive. I covet my mudcloth scraps. I got alot of mudcloth from Africa on my trip and am down to scraps of which I will use every little bit 😊😊😊

    @@kindredcreativecorner6927 I know that’s right! I wonder, can you order from them?

  • @kindredcreativecorner6927
    @kindredcreativecorner6927Ай бұрын

    @Arleathia try AKN Fabrics of New York they have real mudcloth. I know someone who ordered from them and the mudcloth was authentic..cuz I made the garment for them. If and when I want more I will go to AKN. Also the pattern on mudcloth, since it is handmade is not 100% consistent throughout the yardage.

    Lmao..you cant find it?? Now I have lost fabric but never a make in progress. 😅. Removable sleeves is ok as long as they dont make the garment look homemade. A top with the keyhole across sounds awesome. I want to draft something like that for me..just havent gotten around to it. So I would love to see what you do. I love figuring out other designs and self drafting . What patterns are your go to when you use patterns??

  • @lesanndesigner
    @lesanndesignerАй бұрын

    Yeah I can't find it right now but I will. I will probably do buttonholes or snaps or even a zipper to attach the sleeve. I hardly use commercial patterns because of my extreme shape so I have learned how to draft most patterns for myself there may be one pattern that I probably use out of anything which is a pattern for pants and it's a plain wide leg pattern from the 10 to 15 years old. But I definitely use patterns for my family.

    If it does what you need and you can tolerate the nuances..keep it. I have a 20+ year old Singer serger that is a workhorse. Keeps going n going. I got a Juki serger about 6 years ago because the Singer was getting along in years. Never any problems. I just thought 1 day it is gonna stop n I did not want to be without a serger. Well when I go to use a serger it is my Singer. I hate that Juki n that Juki hates me. I occasionally will talk to the Juki n run fabric thru her but I end up frustrated when she has to be rethreaded. How she knows she is not being threaded in the right order is a mystery but she will not, I repeat will not work until that correct sequence is executed. There are no sensors or electronics keeping track of the threading order, so I am baffled then frustrated. So I go back to Ms Faithful Singer. Decide what you can n cannot live with. When the cons outweigh the pros back it goes. Ok that rhyme was gud😅😅😅😅

  • @lesanndesigner
    @lesanndesigner2 ай бұрын

    Yes I love my singer serger so I hated it when it messed up. I wish I could have just found a tension wheel to replace and I've been happy. But I will probably keep the brother for right now. Thank you so much for always commenting, I enjoy the interaction 😁

    The sleeves from your house coat is throwing things off. I can't decide. I love that fabric. Is that a Hobby Lobby one?? Sleeveless may be best cuz summer you are ok. Then winter with a long-sleeved sweater.

    Never ever ever ever disparage the work of another. I would refuse a job to FIX someone elses work. I would suggest to the client to take those pants back to the original seamstress to FIX . If that is not an option, I would then offer to make her a pair of pants from scratch.-my way. Kudos to you for how well your work is done. I do agree that good $$ is paid to have something tailored for you. And you should get your $$$ worth. An example I always give isi if you hired a conteactor and they did not do the job to your satisfaction, what would you do? Your first reaction would not be to hire another contractor to fix the work of the first. Let's stay positive, and yes, she should have checked out the seamstress work before hiring. 😊
