Catholic Answers

A lot of people have misconceptions about the Catholic Church. Catholic Answers is a media company that answers questions about what the Church really teaches with apologetics. We are the largest organization of our kind.
Our Mission

Catholic Answers is a media ministry that serves Christ by explaining and defending the Catholic faith. We help Catholics grow in their Faith, we bring former Catholics home, and we lead non-Catholics into the fullness of the truth.

Catholic Answers works to ensure our content is faithful to the Magisterium. Our staff apologists have decades of practice in apologetics, and several hold advanced degrees in theology and philosophy. We maintain a broad list of associates (clergy and laymen) who are experts in the fields of liturgy, history, bioethics, theology, philosophy, canon law, and more. We have close friendships with members of the Church hierarchy across the United States and in Rome.

That pride/fall "joke" might be the dumbest thing I've ever heard. How about we love our neighbors and accept everyone for who they are? There's a lot of misunderstanding here of the purpose of the month and snide digs and "holier than thou" attitude on this topic. Extremely disappointed.

I was raised Catholic, but during the 1970’s, I did not even hear any theology or anything that helped me stand up for Catholicism. I didn’t know what I believed. I married a Lutheran. We were both believers in Jesus so we jointly joined the a Methodist church. We moved and switched to the Missouri Synod Church. They told me all of the “bad” Catholic” beliefs. I didn’t believe them because I talked to my priest before I got married. My husband died and I stayed at that church…I moved and joined a different Protestant church, but after a few years, I am struggling and feel something is missing. I follow apologetics and listen to numerous Christian podcasts. I keep getting drawn to “Pints with Aquinas” and others that discuss Catholic conversion. I went to Mass tonight…I feel that I should return to Catholicism. I am also angry that despite going to a Catholic school and being Catholic for 23 years, I was never taught anything about being a Catholic.

It’s funny cause when you see Protestants objection from Catholic tradition, they don’t care about the scripture of the logic that follows they only care that it doesn’t follow their tradition. A tradition of 500 years is somehow an argument against a tradition of 2000 years, as long as you can go you see people praying to the martyrs

45:44 For this question, the key to understand how the sacrifice on Good Friday can be present to us now is the account of the Ascension in Hebrews 9, where the author identifies Christ as the eternal high priest that brings his own blood and wounded body into the heavenly sanctuary, making the sacrifice once for all. That means, the Ascension of the Lord into the heavenly true sanctuary transformed the historical sacrifice on Calvary in to an eternal one, out of time and space frames. Therefore every Mass being celebrated on earth is a participation of the heavenly offering which was made eternal for all time and all people by Christ’s entry into the heavenly holy of Holies. Christ is not suffering now, but according to Heb 9, he is still offering in an eternal sense.

That is Catholism 100%. That is also the reason the Jews rejected Jesus. It was a language too hard to understand. Jesus is the Eucharist! He is Holy! He is King!

He doesn't answer the question. You go straight to God or Jesus. Jesus is the only mediator between God. It states not to pray to dead people in the bible. There is no reason to go to a dead person. Plus, God knows if they are in Heaven or not. They might not even be in Heaven. God answers the prayers...NOT THE SAINTS!!! God Bless All!!!❤

I think the confusing part is the martyrs under the altar/ the Saints and including Mary can hear 1 billion prayers then? That they are omnipresent? I’m Catholic and I wrestle with this as well.

If this protestant reasoning were right, the Jews couldn't have had a common and ministerial priesthood, because in the Old Testament, the Jews are called the same way as St. Paul called us Christians: chosen and priests.

Another thing to surrender to Jesus. Nobody knows God's ways or thoughts. God's gifted you and called you. He knows God's approval for Salvation. This gifts offering and call.. Initiated and he will finish it. Irrevocable Apart from the need to repent. I was saved because of his perfect timing accepted his invitation by surrender g authentically, transparent sincere shared I needed help he sent a helper to me and I had a Great Awakening. The Faith has only flourished and it was all him. All he asked me to do was practice to enter his rest . Salvation is a gift he will miss nobody predestined for adoption. Debate on your personal perception and beliefs. Divisional, causes quaralling foolish controversy over something that is finished . Be sure you are known by him. We can delude ourselves in many ways. Surrender to Jesus Christ he saves and lives. That's all anyone has to embrace ❤

This isn't sound teaching but misses the mark of the reason for baptism or rather over glorifies it. You didn't say the word faith once and faith is what saves us, brings upon the holy Spirit. Baptism is an outward testimony of our faith in our risen Savior.

I always confess lies in confession, even white lies. I have read they are okay but then I’ve read they are not okay. I have a situation with a 93 year old father who can’t really think clearly and he is making his dog sick by sneaking her what he does not care to eat himself, chocolate included. The dog is about 20 pounds overweight and was off her food and throwing up, excessive thirst. The vet diagnosed possible pancreatitis on the phone. She seems better after two days so we are going to vet this week. In the meantime, I lied and told dad the vet prescribed this certain dog food that has medicine in it and she cannot have any other food, that if he doesn’t want to eat something, we will throw the leftovers in the trash, not give to the dog. So is this a sin or not? I am trying to keep the dog alive and the truth has done no good. When he thinks I not looking, he has his hand down to give the dog his food. He’s done so for years.

You are twisting everything biblical; you're saying things that are not there - you're assuming that that's what's being said or done but it's common sense that's not what's being said or done. The taking of the bread and wine is a remembrance as Jesus said. A remembrance that He is that Royal Priest prophesied in the Old Testament who came to save humanity and that one day He will return. As Jesus said, nobody comes to the Father but by Him. We don't need a ministerial priest to access the Father. We have been adopted as sons of the Father already through our coming to Jesus and anointed with the Holy Spirit of God - the same spirit with which Old Testament priests were anointed with. Our bodies are the temple and the church of God. The presence of God is within us. We have access to God - no need for ministerial priests to sacrifice for us for the forgiving of our sins or for prayers for petitions if we already have access to God.

  • @luciaperez389
    @luciaperez389Күн бұрын

It's common sense that in the first century A.D. there would have been ministerial priests because that was the norm all throughout the old testament up until Jesus came into being. The Holy Father's promise of the coming of Jesus as the last Royal Priest is all over the Old Testament. Jesus, the apostles and Pentecost happened for a reason; to fulfill the Holy Father's promise of a priestly king and His plan of redemption for all nations. Jesus is the only way back to Eden here on Earth and the only way to Heaven and Eternal Life because He IS the last royal priest who did what no other priest had done or ever will - give His life on the cross to redeem us back to our Holy Father and be exalted in Heaven to sit at our Holy Father's right hand. Ministerial priesthood makes no sense to throw it into the biblical story unless we're talking pre-Jesus.

I'm 4:13 into the video and you've mentioned "common priesthood" and 'ministerial, higher priesthood' which is not biblical to my knowledge and if it was you'd be making biblical references by now as to where in the Holy Bible you'd find what you're talking about. I'll continue to watch the video and hear what happens later in the video.

Just because I might think my point of view is right, doesn't make someone else wrong. A lot of food for thought in seeing the world in shades of gray.

Matthew is careful to describe how the stone was moved, because ritualistically, Orthodox Jews would have been defiled by an open tomb. This is also why Matthew avoids directly describing them going inside.

1 Timothy 2:5 “For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;” Luke 1:46-47 And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord, 47 And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Savior Romans 3:10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: 1 Corinthians 10:4 “And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.” 1 Samuel 2:2 “There is none holy as the LORD: for there is none beside thee: neither is there any rock like our God. Mark 7:7. “Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.” 2 Timothy 2:15 “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” John 14:6 “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” 1 Timothy 4:3 “Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.” 2 Timothy 3:15 “And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.” Matthew 4:4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. 1 Timothy 4:1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; 2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; 3 Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth. 1Ti 3:2 - A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach; Tit 1:7 - For a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God; Rev 3:16 - So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth. Better to be a born again Christian and find a good Bible study group.

Faith in Jesus Christ is not about being a Protestant, Catholic, or Orthodox-but someone who personally knows and loves Jesus. However, understand that there was no Papacy in the early Church, not even in embryonic form. No trace of Papal infallibility in the Gospel accounts, Acts, or any canonized Epistles. The seat of the Pope was erected in defiance to God, as a means of splitting from the paternal Eastern Church for political consolidation of Latin power. A clear heretical act of rebellion, which led to the domino effect of further heresies-namely, Protestantism, which has birthed anti-Trinity humanistic philosophies that trample modern civilization.

POPE BENEDICT XVI: Jesus “does not describe the end of the world, and when he uses apocalyptic images, he is not acting the prophet. On the contrary, he wants to stop his disciples of every epoch from being curious over dates and forecasts, and wants to give them the key to... the right road to walk today and tomorrow to enter into eternal life.” While Catholics believe the Bible is inspired by the Holy Spirit and that it is true, one cannot take individual biblical quotes or passages and say each one is literally true.”
