Really you should always start your character turn around with the 3/4 veiw. There is more indication to the thrid dimension and relating that to other veiw allows for control of the process, you tend to go back and forth with each veiw until you reach a point were your happy with the outcome the horizontal lines are imperative in keeping the proportions equal, although i havent seen the top done apparoch before that might help the orientation of your character model.

Thank you,I've been practising doing model sheets for an exam to try to get vocational training on animation! But a question, does style affect that much? The bodies that I usually draw have a more realistic feel to them, but I don't think it will as long as it is consistent, right?

Dude it's bad tip if you're telling people not to add the colors you need to add the colors always and you need to also add the digital colors as well the code for digital colors! When you're creating a character you need to put everything in the beginning to avoid any problems you may have in the future so you get the full picture unless it's a black and white which still is a color then I don't see why color should be avoided!

From every animation and drawing teacher I’ve ever had they never said you have to do color. Because you don’t it’s not required and it doesn’t add any extra detail. In fact if you can get a drawing done without color is definitely better color can easily hide sloppy line work. Definitely not required and definitely not something you should do. If you want for some specific reason sure but you don’t need to put that in.

@@nolanneidig2976 Well if this is coming from the teachers then they are bad teachers Who are only teaching you things on the technical side of things but not for the character for the artistic expression and that is where it counts the most I mean give me a good reason as to when or where you don't need colors what out there doesn't have a color? Because all of the animations including the black and white they all have colors they have to have some sort of color something that defines them even the outlines from these character that's a color! So those teaching you these things are not really teaching you are and anyways art is not something that can be taught I cannot stress that enough that you think just because you go to school for art that you're being taught art you're not being taught you just only learning the technical things that you can pretty much pick up on your own you know! Just look around everything around you has color which gives it Definition.

@@artmanstudios7037 Okay you have an amazing opinion I see. Well let me start off with you’re the only one who has this opinion. And you could even look this up on many different art websites that say the same thing. And yes I know black the outline of a character is a color but like duh? Are you this stupid? And I never said just because I go to school for animation I’m being taught everything correctly but when it’s someone who’s been in the background for 35 plus years I’ll trust them over some kid on the internet changing his name to sound like cartman from South Park who has no art videos and no knowledge. You have had one opinion and it was completely useless. “I cAnNoT sTrEsS” this enough artman that you are wrong. Adding color to animations adds no details besides the imagination side of wondering what it looks like colored. If you can’t make a drawing just black and white and have the audience understand what’s their looking at is your fault.

  • @nolanneidig2976

@@artmanstudios7037 also what out there doesn’t have color? Like 90 percent of professional drawers storyboards, turnarounds, model sheets, most of these starting processes in the business have little to no color. So the fact you think you need to add color to the project to add some tiny missing detail is exactly why you’ll never be this position buddy.

@@artmanstudios7037 ALSO LMAO WHATD YOU SAY? Art can’t be taught? You think it’s something you just know or learn lmao 🤣 because it most definitely can be taught 😂😂omg dude I didn’t even read that part because most of what you said what hog shit. But when I actually read that you don’t think art can be taught just confirmed to me that you’re some little kid and I promise you need to change your perspective if you ever want in this field. Color is cool but it don’t add major detail. Do a drawing just black and don’t add shading or anything so you can truly see how sloppy your line work is little boy.

"work towards likeness instead of geometric perfection" <-- as a designer, I can affirm this way of thinking is so important, in fact, this is what makes us creative people different, we think from logic AND feelings. We did the same thing in logo design too, If you measure the logo of Nintendo Switch, the 2 shapes in the logo are not the same.
