The Convention's mission is "the conservation and wise use of all wetlands through local and national actions and international cooperation, as a contribution towards achieving sustainable development throughout the world".
The Convention uses a broad definition of the types of wetlands covered in its mission, including lakes and rivers, swamps and marshes, wet grasslands and peatlands, oases, estuaries, deltas and tidal flats, near-shore marine areas, mangroves and coral reefs, and human-made sites such as fish ponds, rice paddies, reservoirs, and salt pans.

A very good discussion on development and conservation of wetlands. One of the honorable panelist was stating that around the world 120 billion dollars are being invested to conserve biodiversity. How much area in a particular country are we conserving biodiversity by incurring 120 billion dollar and what is the time frame. How much are we incurring for mitigation of climate change world wide in addition with biodiversity conservation.How developing countries can arrange their budget for development and conservation of wetlands. Thanks to panelist and anchor for sharing a insight and knowledge about wetlands.

Congratulations to the Ramsar convention and the people of the world for celebrating the importance of wetlands and water to humanity. We call on governments to emphasize wetlands conservation in their national legislation and conservation activities.
Wetlands and water the polite theme of wetland day 2021, wetland the connected zone of aquatic and terrestrial ecosystem. Wetland mostly consists of freshwater areas, though water the most important part of the biosphere, as it has been important theme of this year, we had witnessed the climate change has drastically alter the quantity and quality of the water in the state of J&K. Wetland ecosystem especially in Kashmir had been witnessed the sever change in its area, biodiversity and pollution level. The encroachment had also changed the scenario of kashmir wetlands keeping its area and depth into consideration. The biodiversity is seen in good way in Kashmir wetlands as this year we witnessed Tundra swan in kashmir but Poachers kill one pair of tundra and disappointed the bird lover . Coming to the theme of wetland day 2021 Freshwater ecosystems, the wetlands in kashmir should be conserved that will keep the life of area on good track... We should stand on toes to conserve the freshwater ecosystem of J&K. So, that the quality will remain comepetitve on its usage pattern.

A lot is still needed to be done to change the mindset of urban planners and the public alike. Many consider wetlands to be an unaesthetic feature of a city. I discussed this topic with many Kigali dwellers (Rwanda) and almost everyone I met prefer having urban wetlands transformed into artificial lakes instead of being restored.

Why was there no discussion of fire ecology necessary for the health of peatlands and wetlands? Your story is only half told. Would this be too inconvenient for the goal of this video? Many habitats across the globe suffer due to alteration of fire ecology on the landscape.
