Railways of all gauges and ages, private and public, static and moving, overground and underground and sometimes on a cliff too!
We have standard 16:9 ratio videos as well as lots of #SHORTS of up to 60 seconds in length filmed in a portrait orientation.
Together they form a record of our travels to see anything On The Tracks.

good short, can't wait for the full video :) and thats for coming down
Great video
А что за конструкция в середине колеи?
The slot between the rails contains the cable to which the tram is attached. The cable is winched remotely and lowers one tram as it pulls another up the hill.

Оказывается шестерëнчатый привод колëс существует в реальности а не только у игрушечных паровозиков PIKO
I've just seen this unit at Manchester Victoria station today (Sat 3 August) at17.50, what's the story?

80 years in the waiting
“King of the Rails”? (A very nice train and setting!)
It looks younger than 71 years, but I do like that Apple Green color scheme!
Brilliant condition. I'm a fan of Barnes locos, several at Windmill Farm in the hands of Austin Moss. My father and I made a video in 1995 featuring, among other locos, 'Duke of Edinburgh' in Maroon. They look nothing like A4s really but they are the epitome of seaside miniature railways and are unusual in being Diesel-Electric. Keep up the good work John Harrison. Wallasey, Wirral.
What a sorry looking line. No pride in it what so ever.
The railway is now owned by Southport Pleasureland who operate the adjacent family theme park. Entry to the park is £4.99 with a "full experience" ticket allowing access to the rides being £24.99. The railway is situated outside the actual park so you can just walk up and pay for ride. I guess that it's not a core offering from the theme park. Handing it over to a group of volunteers on a long Peppercorn lease might be the way to improve the railway.
Good video, like.
Sad to see the state of it like the rest of the town lacks investment
People should be grateful that the railway is still there instead of moaning about it. Maybe even go down and offer to help out.
It looks like time has not been kind to this little railway. I recognised it almost immediately having travelled on it back in the 1980s, there was another platform and run-round loop on the Left hand side at the pier end. I’m sure that there were steam locos too as well as ICE powered locos. I watched a video on KZread a short time ago of present day Southport and was shocked at the number of closed shops, especially the Wayfarers Arcade, on Lord street, in which all shops had closed and empty. So very sad. The little railway, at least is still running and hopefully its and Southport’s fortunes recovery. Best wishes from Oxfordshire
Yes I remember very well because there where very good steam locos on it so why can’t they bring them back Bill
What a sad little railway. It could be made to be interesting and fun.
Remember this from my. Childhood, looks rough, needs t.l.c.I heard the other locomltives that used to run here are on a farm track not far away,I remember one called Princess anne.
What about cleethorpes it opened 1948
Southport opened in 1911.
Last time I rode this, my thoughts were it needs a tunnel of some kind with something to look at inside, they used to change the train at the turn around point, but that no longer happens so it seems, such a shame that there’s no progress, the mini railway in Lytham is almost the same just a square track going around a mini golf course with a short tunnel that’s just bricks, it seems to me that most seaside mini railways lack a great deal of enthusiasm and ideas to make them more interesting.
A few things missing You a return loop rather than end to end 2 a weed killing train occasionally 3 If you are going to run end to end you have to have something, for passengers to look at NOT just run in a trench 4 a turntable and the running of live steam on weekends 5 try to extend length of track
Would you like to come to The Halton Miniature Railway we are a 7 1/4 gauge, 1mile off, track opened in 1979
Yes. We need to make a specific trip to the area as there is a lot to visit including Halton.
Hi, hope the weather holds up for Sunday as we may be able to make a visit to the railway sooner than we expected.
@@onthetracks we hope so too, we should have 2 trains running on Sunday :)
Wow , incredibly uninteresting view of a headlight on a make-believe steam train .
So you didn't watch the second half of the video then?
@@onthetracks Which half was that , the equally riveting view of the track , the graffiti , and the encroaching greenery ?
That's a sorry sight. I remember riding on it 40 years ago; very different to how it looks here.
Poor little Ventnor
Needs some love.
It runs in a ditch-like channel with little to see on either side...
Ure missing a turntable, so the whole thing can be facing the right way all the time, plus a tunnel or two !
Very Good Video of 1931 Neptune. She is one of my favourite.
“Now you see me, now you don’t!”
На два вагончика два паровоза.
Listen to those sizzling sausages 😂 (The tracks)
The drivers loved it!
Que lindo o meu lindo dia
Lindoooo
That me oh I saw river esk last year
River esk visit last year
Офигеть! У них жезловая система!
That can pull quite a lot. Is this all it can push and pull or can it do more than that??
The railway don't need to have longer trains at the moment. The loco can do more of course.
Larwie aka lmm also was In that locomotive so it's a pretty good fact
Did you see jack
Yes, but not in even in light steam. He sat just outside a shed.
@@onthetracks Ah, just half ‘addicted’ so seeing if a former fleet member is alright
Nice
I’d say he needs to open the accelerator to shut the safety valve off
Thanks for coming on Saturday and thoroughly enjoyed your video of the event. Kevin
My pleasure. It was great to experience the site without the crowds of the public running days. Enjoyed my rides too.
