Since 2006, I have been one of the 300+ members in a group called "Classic Refuse Trucks", which studies the evolution of waste vehicles and collection methods. I document the equipment collecting the world's trash as I simply find its functional design interesting. I especially like to preserve this industry's history by finding the oldest trucks before they are put out of service, and gone forever.

White GMC's are awesome trucks
That's a one mean n mighty beasty truck
Hi Trashman242 I think my favorite older video memories if you still have videos is my favorite older refuse truck from my childhood is the white Volvo WX64 that has a US Flag on it the left of the Volvo and the Rapid Rail with light blue/green and white stripe on the middle that says on the signboard Escondido Disposal on it and some other Volvo WX64 same US Flag on it the left of it too Rapid Rail with the opposite of white and light blue/green on the middle as well with the same signboard that says Escondido Disposal as well. Those were my favorite older videos of a Escondido Disposal WX64 Rapid Rail if you can reupload again sometime with a better quality of it.
Another gem emerges. I sure do hope you have a stockpile of these videos to keep treating us to for years to come. This is an era that just isn’t going to be able to be replaced. The entire look of the truck down to the chevron mirrors is such a treat. Also really neat to see the straight frame packer in action as opposed to your more traditional folding follower setup when the crusher panel is being used. This was a nice throwback this evening and exactly the sort of video I was needing. Excellent work as always!
@@westcoastrefusetrucks Thanks Alan, I'm glad you enjoyed it. I agree about the look, the body reminds me actually of those hot wheels front loaders if you remember those.. Somehow the hopper isn't much smaller on EZ Packs despite no folding follower like we see on maxons. Appreciate the comment and I do believe I have some other old stuff to upload :)
What month of 2009 was this taken
Great video 🎉🎉
Nice video!
Fantastic video! Throwback with every home in the Socal hills having Rotos and manual bins for yard waste. 1985 is definitely one of the older trucks we've seen on KZread. Glad you saved this footage to upload in 2024!
@@RecologySpencer Hey thanks for the comment! Crazy to think how many toters are there now for trash and recycle, even though so few rotos ever broke
Awesome 😎
Man that driver was fast. Love that crazy rev too! Can't wait to see what else you have archived
what year is that garbage truck?????🤨🤨🤨🤨🤨🤨🤨🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
Too good of a truck to go to scrap. Surprised he took the black bags. We aren't supposed to take it in plastic bags only paper bags, cans, or toters.
maybe they opened them at the mrf
Thank the tree huggers running Cali. Every old truck there has been scrapped
This might just be me, but in my opinion this is the right way to do green waste collection.. Awesome truck! Stellar video!
I’m only disagreeing with you because if someone throws away a lot of dirt. That’s gonna be a pain in your back. Hence why you should do manual recycle
Wow!! What an absolute throwback! Super awesome to see an old classic truck like this one! Too bad it's long gone, but at least you got the chance to film it when it was running around! I thoroughly enjoyed this one, listened all the way through! That engine sound is amazing! Not your typical growl of an L10 Cummins, but you get those super high RPM's while packing which just adds a whole new level of awesome! What engine was in this one? I know some of them had the L10 Cummins, but this one sounds more like a Cat rather than a Cummins, especially when those high revs kicked in! Hopefully you have some more classics to share with us in the future!
Hey Sean, it's a Cummins 8.3, which later became the ISC. Thank you for the comment!
@@Trashman242 Wow! I didn't know they had 8.3 Cummins engines in 1985! Good to know! I just posted a comment on that private video of the Green City Mack MR rolloff, that video is an epic one and I love it!
We got a manual side loader! We got a manual side loader garbage truck EDCO WASTE lives on! Woo-hoo! Unbelievable!
Is that cocaine
Another place that uses natural gas pieces of junk. They can't get near enough miles to match a diesel, so more trips to the yard to fill up. Colorado is one of those cesspits that charge for bags at grocery stores to save the environment. It's ironic that they want to use plastic cans instead of metal. One would think communal can pick up would actually save gas, save plastic waste, keep environment cleaner bc cans aren't being blown over and scattering trash. The waste from just Denver switching to plastic cans will probably do 1000 times more damage than the whole state's use of plastic grocery bags. It's all about the $. The virtue signaling is only believed by the chumps.
Totally hear you. Their argument is it cuts down on illegal dumping and holds each resident responsible for his trash generation, paying more for a larger size. Funny thing is if somebody wants to dump, they can just leave items in the alley because the city still sweeps once a month with a rear loader for bulk items, no extra charge. I'm glad I don't live in Denver city limits
revving and coal rolling leu! nice work!
Awesome video man.
Man that LEU sounds amazing!
15 years ago which was back in May of 2009 is today so happy 15th anniversary for this video Trashman242
Amazing video
Good video, would love it closer though
Nice to see you back.
bros back!
Awesome video bro.
This is low quality for November 2022
I just read yesterday that Paul Beliakoff and pmb waste solutions are both no more as of 2019. Rip Paul.
I miss him immensely. His customers were sold to SSP Waste, however, who has grown from doing just septic waste to lots of residential and commercial collection.
@Trashman242 at least they are taken care of. I wonder if the two owners knew each other.
Do you still miss this truck?
Favorite body and favorite engine and the most nostalgic cab for me, so yeah
Damn that truck fast AF
Can we like bring these things back alive?
Lol maybe in Baja
Nice video! When was this filmed
2012
Are these current photos and videos?
Yes, they live forever.
@@Trashman242 are all of these trucks still in service especially the Pete octo
@@amazingadventures510 I was just kidding, it was filmed in 2012. They're not running, at least not in California
That’s sad. Thanks for letting me know.
I post a lot of cool videos about garbage trucks on my channel. Feel free to check it out. I upload every Thursday and Tuesday.
Roaring Octos on Rotos. Stellar.
love to see the oldys
sick video!!
Ty
Blast to the past. That 310 rail arm was cool, but havent seen footage of that WhiteGMC amrep before so that was really cool to see. Anyways great video
Yeah I've been waiting to share that WX, I'm glad you liked it
Ah glad to see these surface on youtube again. These aint shit compared to the WX Ellipticals and not even the volvo rapid rails that yard has now. I was just in Yuma i took a yard tour, saw similar units. Dead these days but how ironic you post this right after i do yard video. Thanks for sharing this Scott!
Cool how some yards just stay the "hand-me-down" yards, no matter what company. I like it though and even though it's still happening, a WX elliptical with autorev isn't quite the same as this. Looking forward to checking out more of your vids (just subbed)
@Trashman242 yeah I feel CV would've gone CNG/LNG by now but there aren't any fuel stations with that fuel nearby, so they're stuck with diesel lol. I'm hoping perris or phelan will give them more stuff? Like an Ex LA (one can dream) Thanks for the sub bro!
So cool I am a garbage truck love her and I’m starting a Flickr account but don’t have any pictures. Can I use some of your old ESD pictures?
That’s not how websites like flickr work. You post your own photos, not someone else’s. Go take your own photos
Sorry
Time capsule
Love to see the old classics Again 👍👍👍it's quite a shame knowing we will never see trucks like this ever again
try lake elsinore im sure they still might have a few running
Thank you! Seems like trucks got the loudest in the early 90s and were quieter both decades before and decades after. Glad you enjoyed
This was a wonderful surprise for my friday evening. I had been watching your old videos these last few weeks and this was a great surprise. It’s great how much has been filmed but it was cooler when people could actually discover new trucks and something interesting was always in the weekly feed. Glad you still got footage around!
Thanks! Happy to surprise you, I'm glad you appreciated what I have.
WM Aloha yard is basically nestled in a Residential neighborhood
Is it filled with great trucks?
It used to. Now it’s all ZRs and labries
@@westernamericantrashtrucks then there’s the main difference between the 2 yards

I work in the rain and the snow in the heat in the cold.No matter wbut I would I still do it and I don't complain about it
I work in a demolition drive in a garbage truck and it is dusty but it has its moments but overall I like it😊
What yard was the octo with no signboard at?
That was Will out of East Valley. Trashmaster684 has more videos of him
Are all these trucks from east valley
words cannot describe how lovely a Detroit diesel sounds. so damn phenomenal
Thank you!
This is so cool old ones bc they have in 2006 in came form Azusa CA so this truck are broken down old ones away we’ll be brand new in 1165 and 82
