    Hi there! New to homeschooling! Really appreciate this video! Couple questions: do you feel like the Christian Light LA is comprehensive enough that we DONT need any stand along programs for spelling, grammar, or handwriting? Do you include any writing composition curriculum?

    We are starting homeschool this year and I have loved seeing your advice in Facebook groups and TikTok!. I am also using a lot of CLE and my daughter would have been entering 2nd grade. I did the diagnostic math and she did not know all of the concepts covered either. What I did was I have the teacher guides for level 1 math and have figured out what light units/lessons she needs and we will just be hitting on those before going to 2nd grade!

    This is exactly what we are doing!! We are supposed to be moving into second technically, but I feel like doing some of the level 1 will help fill in gaps before we move on. CLE is just SO good!!!

    We love CLE I feel like it’s so advanced so it’s ok that any child is a level below. It honestly doesn’t matter.

    What? They stopped the cursive? Maybe they will bring it back. They tried that in my state like 10 years ago. It lasted a year and they brought cursive back. Cursive in the early years actually has a lot of benefits for the brain.

    Ooooo….I’ve been trying to find one on Ancient Egypt for this upcoming school year and now I’ll have to check out that company!! I feel the same way regarding Gather ‘Round and had to ditch them. They’re also increasing their digital products by 20%🫣😅. Would definitely like a more in depth on Schoolhouse Discoveries 😁😁.

    My son did CLE Lang. Arts, Reading, and Math from 1st grade through 9th grade. I can not tell you what a solid foundation it has given him! It is such a wonderful program. I always giggle a little bit when people, like yourself, say they didn't consider it because of how it looked because how it looked was exactly why I considered it. My son was a very busy, busy boy. He didn't want or need a lot of "fluff". He wanted to do the lesson and then get on to the "fun" stuff - trucks, outside with the chickens and farm cats...So the very basic looking light units helped him stay focused and not get distracted.

    We started the good and beautiful language of art two weeks ago with my daughter and she simply began to advance in her reading. English is not our first language... and I am impressed with her progress. I think the most important thing in teaching is to have material that keeps them motivated to learn, that is my goal.

    We use our dining room table. We do have a spare bedroom that only gets used by guests twice a year. I have considered turning it into a homeschooling room/space, but my kids are at very different levels. Soon to be Grades 9, 6, and pre-k. So, we are never really all in the same area anymore anyway. My oldest goes off on her own, most of the time for school work. I bounce between my other two helping each as needed. My youngest doesn’t do much school but needs help to get started with things to play. We love our open dining, kitchen, and living space. It is where we spend most our days.😊

I was looking into Christian light but I’m scared to fail him on reading. English isn’t my first language, some words I pronounce them wrong lol do you recommend to do bju for reading since is online?

    BJU or Abeka both have very strong phonics and reading programs that also have online options. Perfect for parents who aren’t strong in English!! Christian light is amazing for reading but the parent is doing all of the teaching with online options

    Well they Did Not dumb it down. The curriculum just moved too fast. Because most homeschools were introducing the old TGTB to young 4 year olds who just finished learning how to blend. And it picked up very quickly. Some children were even in first grade when they started to use this curriculum. So it can be a little insulting when you say they've chosen to dump it down.

    We use our dining room table but we do have a nice big shelving unit with drawers, shelves and doors in it all across the wall in the dining area we school in. So that holds all our school and art things and it works good because we just have it all right there. Definitely a small house tho. Anyone can make it work!

  • @Heavenlyhomeschool
    @HeavenlyhomeschoolАй бұрын

    For us, it did make the year a little longer. Like we went from August-June before finishing....but we also take a lot of breaks so I am not sure if that made a difference

  • @zimmertim
    @zimmertim7 күн бұрын

    I thought it makes for a shorter year because most subjects have only 160 lessons total which is only 160 days if you do it every day. Most public schools do at least 175-180 days ayear.
