  For an officer level on an average you get 60-80k as salary, along with benefits like house or leased accomadation, petrol, car and driver, medical expense reimbursements, transfer expense reimbursement, extra for deputation..all benefits depends on the department and designation. Some may get more or less. So including petrol house rent etc you can calculate accordingly. And bonus point - they don't get threats of getting fired like in private sector. So job security is a plus point. This guy seems like having many preconceived notions without knowing the real details.

  As a software engineer myself, I find this disturbing as this is misleading. Learning how to code and a few algorithms isn't what makes a software engineer what they are. It's their problem-solving ability. Yes, we indeed need deep knowledge of programming languages and algorithms, but those are mere tools to get the actual job done - "problem-solving". Believe me, you need to know a little bit about every trade to be an actual engineer, as our skill is to solve and automate most of the challenges in those fields (not just in computer science fields)

  2nd doesn’t know shit. Right after your under grad you can give RBI Grade B Exam (Highest level exam available to enter RBI). In that the base pay is 55K but then the additional benefits kick in and you get around 1.1 - 1.2 as a starting salary.
