but can it run doom
Hey thanks for keeping these things going. While most are going to LED displays I'm sure some small places will buy these. I wish I had a place and or use for one but I hope this takes off.
It's too loud, it should be in an emergency department where we can send sos texts to 911
Color
The only one I have seen in person was at the Zurich airport in 2001. It was mesmerizing to watch as it updated flight statuses. It was a fairly large board.
I want to make one, but not this complexed
They just put one in the new Queen's Food Hall in the Toronto Eaton Centre. It's the coolest thing in the whole mall, I could not stop watching it!
That's one of ours, it looks awesome!
This is oddly satisfying.
its not analog tech, its controlled by a smartphone lol . lies.
Can it run DOOM?
SOMEONE WILL FIND A WAY.
That's wild
If you could minimize the black space around the flaps then you could construct real canvases.
That's why we made Picture Flap!:)

When your split flap display wants to play Squid Game with you.
Unbelievable
How it"s made this is video?
Wow
Can you have split flap alphabet? Yes
Every sign has A-Z 1-9 and a slew of punctuation marks.
Very cool. Looks much easier to read than a lot of the digital displays in airports now.
Thanks! Our stock signs are ADA-compliant and is legible up to 100 ft (depending on the height they hang at)

Inspiring innovation for sure! Keep up the great work.
Thank you!!
I want one so bad… would be so cool to put my game visits up onto it and hear it tick every so often…

Nothing fancy*
@@stonesymmetry They are pricy... lots of parts and made to order with locally (Philadelphia) sourced materials. Most signs have around 10,000 parts, some go up to 50,000+.
C'est génial comme système d'affiche rétro
Awesome work ! What's the price?
Thank you! Prices vary by size and customizations and usually start around $15k.
pretty good
You guys do the work of the gods. ❤ I love this so much
Thank you!
Awesome work, duddies!
I’m a software engineer and former nuclear technician. I wanna work here. This would be so fun to build.
I applied. Sent y’all an email.
Did they accept to make it?
Remember no Russian
Is there a way to slow the flipping down and to do it one line or two at a time? I'd love to buy one and have it as close to the real one that was in 30th Street Station in Philly and somehow program it to ether my local Amtrak train times here in Vermont or to the train schedules in philly. I always loved hearing that Solari board flipping through the various arrivals and departures as trains came in and left when I took Amtrak to visit my grandparents in PA. kzread.info/dash/bejne/q3ekq5WQocuwpso.html
Reminds me of Waterloo train station back in the day . Wish they had them now .
Can you make 2048?
LOVE that idea! We'll talk to our software team.
Wheel of Fortune should use this
WE AGREE!
Wheel of Fortune deserves to be played on this
wow great work!
Wow I worked as a Steward at the Ritz Carlton 20 years ago we had to learn a credo that had to be recite on the spot.. We are ladies and gentlemen to serve ladies and gentlemen.
Wouldn’t just flip dots be better for tetris?
Maybe so, but games on a Split Flap were more challenging to program - aka more fun for our team!
Everything reminds me of her.
Wow, I'd love to work for you guys. 😀
Keep your eyes peeled for job openings on our careers page!
"we build cool stuff" is such a damn motto, I love it and I love what you make
Thank you, it's been our goal since day 1!
This would make an amazing project kit. I'd love to buy one as just parts, instructions and software and put it together
Sounds like a rattlesnake :D
ohoooooooohhg.
Are these rotating always the same way or can they reverse?
They only rotate one way
Yes, the ambient noise is a problem
I do not need a custom-made split flap display. I simply want the one in this video. How much is it?
Please fill out a form on our site at oatfoundry.com/split-flap/ or email [email protected] for pricing!
Sounds like 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
At 1:00 1:09 1:11 YOU GOT ME ANGRY! 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
is it able to be used as a linux terminal
We did a test with that using a keyboard input and the python subprocess module. Worked well! It was definitely not a fully-featured terminal though.
Is it really that quiet?
Hey Rick, this video helps explain how loud our Split Flaps can get --> kzread.info/dash/bejne/npmsqMyjpLi2oqg.html
