I’ve been doing a lot of research about the Cub S2 wanting to get back into the hobby after a nearly four decade hiatus. Wow, things sure have changed. I appreciate the videos on the Cub particularly. The gear seemed to me to be the weak link. The Valiant gear is already in my shopping cart. Decision made. Thanks!
Nice idea and demo.. Looks good and solid. thx for sharing. FRCP
I have been going insane trying to get some one to understand the issue i was having with this plane, the dx6e and the flight modes not working I could not find the file off the spectrum web site to down load for the cub so i was lost. first plane ever so i am just learning. every one ( including my hopbby shop guy ) kept saying read the manual..... and id say im telling you i read the manual theres nothing in there that helps the situation. so im going to try it your way and hope it works thank you for the video im starting to think they are pushing this 250 dollar transmitter just to get you to spend the money and then it just wont work with this plane as easy as it should. so again thanks
yet to find a good GyroFlow tutorial
Very well done . thank you.
THANKS a MILLION!!! This saved me from pulling all my hair out trying to figure out the flap system among the other issues I experienced! Tossed that manual suggestion out the window.
Thanks for making these videos! I’m trying to setup the same plane with NX10. I have everything working except I can’t seem to get the flaps working at all! I went into the channel assign and set 7 aux2 to D, as that is where I have the flaps plugged in, but nothing moving. Any suggestions on what I may be doing wrong? Thanks
Thanks man, even years later this video is super helpful. I appreciate the simple to the point instructions!
If you are going to include landing assist and GPS, it would be helpful if you would actually show how / where to connect them.

@@CaptainLeo In case you missed it, you say that you won't install it in this plane. Same for LAS. Not useful, better leave that out of the video. I found the information elsewhere.
Hello Captain! Thank you so much - wonderfully explained. Thank you! Bought a DXe to teach my 10 year old to fly. The Spektrum manual is pretty spars so your kind help is very much appreciated!!
I have the same problem. No green light in "Normal mode" (Position 0 on the "B" switch) tried your trick of holding stick down and to the right, but that didn't solve it. Very weird how it's different than all the other Blade helis.
The pa28 1300mm tires are air filled and adjustable for $20 on fms site. (I have both)
Thanks for the help this was driving me crazy 😂
front or back spin / Counter clock wise or Clockwise?? Cute.
HI where is the part for the landing gear
Do you think the Kavan wheels will be OK on the carbon cub S2 I went with the 4 inch and I also ordered your inserts and a battery tray from your webpage. I’m hoping the Kavan wheels are not too heavy for that plane. What are your thoughts?
I only have the Kavan wheels on the FMS cub, the inserts are designed for that, they might work out on the carbon cub if you have bolts to fit. Let me know how it works out!
I am going to do the exact same thing on my Corbin cub S2, but I was going to put the 4 inch Kavon wheel using your inserts I was going to use a four MM stainless steel bolt so they work do you think they will be OK and not too heavy for the S2 cub?
Thats a very interesting customization! I don’t know what the weight difference would be, but the Carbon Cub can handle floats and a camera, so there is a good chance.

Thank you so very much for this video. You just did what I was already thinking. I had my eye on those wheels, but I did not know exactly how to mount them. I ordered three of your inserts and one of your carbon cup S2 battery trays just wanted to say thank you so muchfor creating those inserts can’t wait to get them in. Try them.
Does it sit the same as it did with the original landing gear or does it sit a bit higher in the nose now?
Its almost the same, I didn’t notice a difference
cuando uno esta configurando el avion jamas debe poner la helice por terminos de seguridad .saludos
I dont see the part number anywhere. can you supply the number please. Thanks in advance.
It's in the video description :) Valiant 1.3 EFL4955
I would like a set of the insert you made how do we do it I will send you my address and you will send me the inserts
Its on my etsy store, look at my website. CaptainLeo.aero
today I have receved the Carbon Cub S2 Battery tray 3D Printed PLA+. verry fast xxx
Happy to hear that, and I appreciate your feedback. :)
They’re called eclips. You can buy an assortment of them and a tool to remove and install them.
Thank you, Good idea to buy a box of them. It's quite a challenge to find one if it falls on the floor!
Yes, I'm interested in the bushings you made. How do I get them from you?
@@randyhardee9918 You can find some on my etsy. 3DRCPlanes.com
Cpt - thanks for the video. Just now upgrading to a new DX8 with my Carbon Cub and also finding your video. This will be very helpful in setting up the new configuration. Thanks,
I appreciate your feedback :)
Thank you, very easy to understand. Going to setup my Carbon Cub for my daughter.
Lucky Daughter, enjoy flying :)
very nice update I just have buy the bat, holder
Great, I see you got the one to fit the Gen 1 battery. It's printing now.
I never used the button. I just flip the switch back to safe mode.
is there a way to edit the stabilization keyframes? For instance if you need to delete a keyrframe or shift them around?
Love it thank you
My landing gear area has been a combination of hot glue and craft sticks for months. This is a much appreciated solution! (Think right wheel would tighten)
Thank you so much for this video. I just purchased the carbon cub in have been really thinking about upgrading the radio but I’m still learning. Thank you so very much again for walking through the step-by-step programming. It helps so very much.👍👍☹️
Glad it helped, and appreciate your comment :)
Lost one of my new planes on Maiden flight doin this . never recovered 😢
Sorry to hear about your plane!
Absolutely fantastic upgrade. I did this and it should have been how they did this from the start. One 1 thing… I didn’t have the stock landing gear guides broke. I also need them for my floats. So I cut a channel for the guides to fit through the new gear strut and it worked beautifully. Also added to a little structure, besides the screws to the modification. I really appreciate this video 👍it was a great help!!
How much heavier is that aluminum bracket than the original metal rod? I ordered the bracket but it’s on back order and I have not gotten it yet. Was just wondering if it’s pretty lite or if it’s a heavier piece of aluminum?
Does the panic button work with this setup and if so which button? Great video 👍
Yes it does
@@CaptainLeo Which button and how do you set it up?
This was a lot clearer than either manual, thanks so much for helping me.
Great video! Did you set up the low and high rates as per the instruction manual or did you just go with your gut settings?
I’ve set a switch with 3 positions now. R100, E0; R95,E10; R 85,E20. Its personal taste, seems easier for me to fly with 10% expo. The most is used when training my friends who are beginners.
Thanks for the video. I’ll be setting this plane up for my son. I think he will like the audible switch setup.
Thanks for sharing. Greetings from SoCal
Thanks for watching!
Did you have to buy any module to install in the DXS for this to work? A tech at Horizon Hobby told me I need to buy a SPM9747 receiver.
No additional module
Wireless trainer mode? I wonder if I actually needed the link cable I bought... I want to connect my NX8 to my old DX6i for when my dad is practicing his helicopter flying. He can do okay but with his eyesight sometimes it gets away from him and he panics a bit and that's when crashes happen. Being able to pull him away from walls and such would be great.
Cpt I bought a new controller module because I thought mine was bad. Your video was a gift from above. Thank you so very much. I can now fly my favorite plane again with safe and without safe. Your videos are absolutely wonderful easy to follow. Easy to understand you’re not going 100 miles an hour proving how well you can do it for yourself. you’re teaching, sir you are wonderful teacher. Thank you
Thank you :)
Wow that was clear and easy i have the NX10 and all we need is an nx and a dx radio😊
Hi Captain Leo. Can I please ask if you notice any differences with aileron trim between SAFE and AS3X? When the plane is stationary (after >25% throttle input has been given then throttle cut is ON), the ailerons in AS3X are completely neutral as are the servos centred on the NX8 transmitter. But when I switch to SAFE mode, the ailerons change position ever so slightly to mimic a left aileron input. This does not self correct when in flight, i.e. the plane will bank left during flight so slightly that if left long enough it will do a full circle. If flying in AS3X mode, the plane will fly completely straight without any issues. I cannot trim this out in SAFE mode as it will just do the opposite for when I switch to AS3X mode. I'm using the stock Flight Controller SPMA3230A which cannot be forward programmed so unable to access attitude trim settings to tell the FC to recalibrate. I contacted Hobbyzone and Logic RC Customer Support who both said it's a defective FC and I have been provided with a new one under warranty, however, the new FC makes no difference. I feel this may be down to something with the NX8. EDIT: I have just noticed that you have the same issue when you switch from SAFE to AS3X mode. In your video at 24:31 the ailerons switch position just like mine do.
Thanks! Was struggling to set up my DX9, found your video and just like that everything is working!
Glad it helped!
Very helpful video. Thank you for sharing with us. I just tried gyroflow app with my own footage from Sony a7siii . I did film stationary objects handheld. I’m not happy with lots of zooming after stabilisation has been applied to it.
This one has been stabilised with gyroflow app ?
Yes, one of the first. I have a video showing how i used gyroflow. Hope it helps.
@@CaptainLeo Thank you ☺️ I just watched that video. It came out in my recommendation.
Thank you so much for sharing your design and for the video! Am going to try to mount the arm and spool holder on top of the Anycubic Kobra 2 Max.
Thank you, Let me know how it works out 👍
Captain leo does theb1700mm not have reverse thrust?
I havent a reason yet to try reverse thrust, I might in the future, but would likely need a 7th channel and a compatible ESC. I set it up once in my Cirrus, but rarely use the feature.
@CaptainLeo copy that I saw that the smaller pa-18 had it but I didn't see that the big one did.
@@aheis1313 it can be helpful on a float plane in water. Or shortening the landing roll on the ground. The cub lands in a short distance and it likely already stopped before you have time to switch on reverse thrust. A big model / jet would possibly use it more.
