Lisa Le

Hi, I'm Lisa and I am OBSESSED with makeup, beauty, and everything EYEBROWS.

After working as a freelance makeup artist for years, I discovered permanent makeup (PMU). This was over a decade ago and since then I have never looked back. I have learned A LOT through growing my PMU artistry and business from nothing to managing my own studio and achieving the freedom to create beauty, empower women, and live comfortably doing my dream job.

My story wasn't all sunshine and rainbows. It included a lot of ups and downs. I certainly was not an overnight success. There were failures, struggles, and dark times along the way but each setback brought with it a valuable lesson. This channel is my outlet to share those stories and lessons with you.

My dream is to lift up as many people as I can along their PMU journey. So excited to be a part of your story!

- Lisa

    LOL - that was me when I was going from MUA world and learning PMU when everyone would bust out these crazy calipers and golden ratio devices that take no consideration of someone's natural features or muscle movements! I felt silly with my little ruler, but it is what allowed me to do my best work. Somtimes simple is best when it comes to tools, imo it allows us to let the artistry shine.

    Hi Heather! I'm in awe of your resiliance and inspired by your determination! Rooting for you to come back stronger than ever! For brow pencils, the brand isn’t real important to me. You can find these “china pencils” on amazon or any makeup department, they arent fancy. What matters most to me when working with pencil is that they are a little more dry and not too waxy. Some are very waxy and hard to get clean lines with. Try out a couple different brands and see what you find works best for you!

    Hey Priscilla! The pencil brand isn’t real important to me. You can find these “china pencils” on amazon. I find I prefer pencils that are a little more dry and not as waxy. I always suggest trying out a few different kinds and seeing what works best for you. If you find you're having difficulty with the numbing cream messing up your drawing, try creating a feint outline before you apply any numbing. Usually the client can tolerate this well. My method for this is to use a q-tip dipped in witch hazel to wipe small vertical sections of the drawing clean (we don't want to tattoo any foreign material like pencil or concealer into the skin), then I tattoo a very light outline where I see my shape should be. Then I proceed to work my entire way across the brow in these small vertical sections until I have a complete outline. Check out the "GUIDES" section of our PMU Secrets Facebook group for more detail on outline tips! Hope this helps! 💜

  • @lisale_brows

    Thanks Lilly I hope you're getting a ton of value from the group!! For concealer, the brand isn’t super important to me. What I look for is just a nice creamy texture that’s not runny and not too thick. You can usually tell just by looking at the tester for whatever brand you have your eye on. I like to keep 3 different shades of brown in my shaping station ranging from light to medium-dark which allows me to easily create a custom color to match any skin tone. Hope this helps and always feel free to tag me in the group with any questions! 💜

    You are amazing 😭. I struggled so much using all the tools that I was taught to use on pmu school but can do pretty good brows with just a pencil in 15 minutes. Sticking to the techinque by 100% while having to use ALL the tools was so annoying and stressing. Watching you make a mix of both(tools and your own hands) has made me understand brow mapping so much better. I'll start using your techinque from now on.

  • @lisale_brows
    @lisale_brows Жыл бұрын

    Hey Alexandra thanks for your comment! I was the same way! I found it just so annoying and frustrating using string. I'm all for tools if they can help an artist get to their initial shape faster, but in the end I believe it always comes down to training/trusting your eye to create a shape that in unique to the client. Its those extra steps and extra artistry that goes into custom brow design and end up making your results stand out above the rest! Glad this video resonated and gave you permission to create your own technique that allows your creativity and artistic style to shine through! ❤❤❤

    Do you use numbing cream?

  • @lisale_brows
    @lisale_brows Жыл бұрын

    Typically I do, but I prefer the minimal amount necessary for the client to be comfortable. I find using less numbing (or none at all if the client is okay with it) helps with pigment retention and healed results.

How can we determine where exactly start the eyebrows up or down, when we have a person that hasn't have any hair in the eyebrows? 3. How high is the highest point of the eyebrows, suppsing that the person hasn't eyebrows? Thank you

    Hey Alexandra! 1) The brand isn’t real important to me. You can find these “china pencils” on amazon. I prefer pencils that are a little more dry and not as waxy. You can also go to your local makeup store and play with some options. Try out a couple different brands and see what you find works best for you! One of the biggest keys is to have a good sharpening technique that makes a nice clean/straight edge. I will make a video on how to sharpen your pencils soon! 2) For a client with no brow hair I will use my mapping lines as a guide, and adjust as necessary. Mapping can only guide you to a proper general shape, for a fully custom brow that flatters the clients face we must use our artistry in creating a brow shape to bring balance, harmony, and symmetry to the clients unique features. It's normal to make adjustments at the end when you are optimizing your final choice of shape. 3) This will depend entirely on the client's face shape, bone structure, facial symmetry, muscle mass, and desired look. Hope this helps! 💜

    Thanks Aracely! These are just basic "China pencils", to be honest I don't remember where I got the exact ones I'm using in the video - but what I look for in any brow pencil is a consistency that is not too waxy. I would suggest just go to a makeup store, or even Target (a good pencil doesn't have to be expensive) and play with some different pencils. I like to have 3 different shades of brown to accommodate a variety of skin tones. Another tip is to make sure you get them really sharp and uniform. I use a box cutter to get my edge as straight, flat, and sharp as possible. I'm planning on making a video specifically on pencil sharpening soon. Hope this helps!

    I’m a beginner pmu artist, I just got certified. I wanted to ask, how do you decide where the arch sits, and how do you make sure it is the same on both brows?

  • @lisale_brows
    @lisale_brows2 жыл бұрын

    Hi Lizette, great question! Arch placement will vary a bit based on factors like the client's existing shape, the shape of their face, bone structure, muscle mass, and the desired look you're wanting to achieve. But for a general idea, I like to draw a straight line starting at the center of the lip to the outside of the bulb of the nose (note: the bulb or "tip" of the nose, not the nostril). This is essentially the line I made at 1:10 in the video. For symmetry, my philosophy is that the most flattering beautiful shape for a client is found in the harmony and balance between both brows across their range of motion. Perfectly symmetrical brows often look unnatural...and may become very unflattering during facial movements and expressions. Symmetry is found in the motion. This is the reason why I have my clients raise and lower their brows as part of the shaping process. Hope that helps!

    @@lisale_brows Thank you. You explained it in such detail, I could easily visualize what you were talking about. I like all of the factors you take I to consideration, and I could most definitely see how all of it plays an important role in determining what the best shape is for the client.

    Hi Natalia! Usually when I use concealer it is just to clean up the shape and make the definition clean and crisp. By this time I have already drawn the shape with my pencil, but if I end up needing to modify the shape I can always remove a portion of concealer with a q-tip dipped in alcohol.
