    Is this suitable as an exercise a year after a 1st MTP fusion? I'm trying to find foot strengthenimg protocols suitable for a healed 1st MTP fusion.

  • @TheHandyTherapist
    @TheHandyTherapist15 күн бұрын

    If the MTP is fused you probably won’t be able to do this exercise. The MTP joint is the main joint moving in this exercise. There are many other foot exercises you can do to strengthen your feet and reduce the chance of aggravating that fusion. It’s too late now, but many of those exercises may have eliminated the need for the fusion. (But obviously I don’t know your situation, so I can’t say that for sure)

    @@TheHandyTherapist Thanks. I thought that moving the band up might have allowed me to strengthen the final joint in the toe. Can you suggest other foot/toe strengthening exercises suitable for a foot with a 1st MTP fusion? It's surprisingly difficult to find this information on the net.

    @@joshuagoldstein8116 I don’t love prescribing specific exercises without evaluating people first. But if you just go through the foot/ankle exercises playlists. Any of the exercises you can do, should help some. Also making sure you massage the scar tissue around the surgery site once the wound has healed

    So when I attempt this my upperback starts to hurt. Any idea why this could irritate my upper back?

  • @RevivalPerformancePT
    @RevivalPerformancePT2 ай бұрын

    can be for sure without assessing you or watching you perform the exercise, but i would suspect that you are probably tensing up your upper back. try resting your shoulders slightly higher toward your ears and focusing relaxing your body and keeping your entire back flat against the floor

    great video; can you use all zones at the same time or just one zone at a time?

  • @RevivalPerformancePT
    @RevivalPerformancePT6 ай бұрын

    you can use all the zones at the same time. it just fills the distal (feet) zones first, then the ankle (while the feet are still filled/squeezing) and then the knees, etc.

    that is how it works already so just put it on the normal setting. it pumps up the feet first and then the ankles (but the feet are still pumped up) and then the calfs (while the feet and ankles are still pumped up) then it pumps up the knees area (while the feet, ankles and calves are still pumped up), etc. @@alfiecleggboxing_
