  • @diymechanic5503

    Battery protection could be one reason, but really anything that involves the battery. Most of the battery issues I have seen with this car have been related to the alternator/voltage regulator. I would start there.

    The screw seems to be rusted into place, and it's hard to get a good angle on it to apply enough pressure to unscrew. Any tips on how to gain access to behind that panel, or some other way to clean that tube out without taking off the metal panel that covers it? Thanks so much!

  • @diymechanic5503
    @diymechanic550310 ай бұрын

    You will have to get that cover off to access the tube. Have you tried spraying some PB blaster or something on it? Even if you have to cut the screw off you can replace it, its just a standard sheet metal screw. Hope this helps.

    We use a similar tape in underground gas pipes.. I’m actually pretty sure it’s the same thing. If properly installed it prevents the steel pipes from corrosion for tens of years.. seems like a roof would be no problem for this “tape coat” which is what we call it ..
