    What order do they number the cylinders? Is it 1 2 3 on the drivers side and 4 5 6 on the passenger side?

    Thanks my friend. I replaced a broken spring today. It came out easier than the new one went in. My spring compressor wasn't the best and the straps slipped. I had to cut the straps off in the end too but the jobs done. Thanks for the help, It was terrifying at times.

    Perfect fix for my issue on my Audi A6 C7 2012. I had the same issue whereby everything worked on the mmi except the screen being black once fully opened. My screen actually worked initially then turned black half way through the opening/popping out cycle. Then was black thereafter. Turns out my cables were both split and needed repairing. Followed the steps and with a new fuse and works perfectly. Thank you for an informative and detailed video.

    Na minha opinião deve-se sempre sangrar o circuito antes de empurrar o pistão/êmbolo para trás. Isto para não fazer retornar o lixo que se junta no êmbolo até á unidade de controlo do ABS. Estarei errado?

    My car has the sensors in the back but has no button in the dashboard. There's a fault in VCDS and when putting reverse nothing happens on the screen. 01543 - Parking Aid Warning Chime (H15) 009 - Open or Short to Ground Replacing it would fix it? And why nothing shows on the mmi when putting reverse?

    Great video but I am struggeling, I have an A6 C7 but not sport so my springs are alot taller (almost 5cm). First I thought I got the wrong springs but they are aproximate the size of the broken ones (millimeter difference). I had to compress them alot, about 5cm to get the bolt on the shock back in place and now I am at the situation where I cannot get it back in place using you method. I think the only way for me is to remove the upper controlarms but that is no easy task it seems like. Taking a break right now and pondering any options but cant see any yet.

  • @anma700
    @anma7002 ай бұрын

    I somewhat retract my comment, It was not possible to get much, if any movment of the shock with the spring compressors. I had them as tight as possible but the end started to touch the top. But what I tried was to lift the car as high as I dared and then used a long (2,5m) prybar get the controlarm as low as possible. Possibly some bushings that did not like that but they need to be changed anyway. Still was a fight with 0mm to spare but made it. I actually clamed the prybar down but if I have had help it might have been easier and a bit safer. Also had a prybar on the spring to get some movement upwards on that, might have been the last millimeter that made it. Anyway, happy now, atleast a few minutes until I start on the second side.

    Ryan: I have a 2012 Audi A6. Thanks for the informative video! I followed your directions and rounded up all the components and tools I needed to complete the task. The most informative part of the video was the sequence of panel removal to get the MMI out. After repairing the wires, getting the wires jammed into the dashboard so they didn't interfere with the MMI operation was trickier than I expected upon reassembly. I got it dialed after a few trials. I started at 5 PM and project was completed in just over 2 hours! I had two broken wires, and there was evidence of a previous repair on mine. Works great. The thing I missed the most about the black screen was the backup camera. I found a work around for the radio on the screen between the Tach and the speedo, until I got it repaired. No blown fuses. Thanks so much!

    I have just finished this job (sort of). What a nightmare. Caliper bolts came out easy enough but calipers took lots of persuasion to come off, lots of levering with a pry bar. Caliper carrier bolts were horrendous. I was able to get the impact wrench on one but the other one just didn't have the access to get the gun on it, couldn't get the breaker bar on it either even with the wheel turned out. Luckily I'd bought some decent spanners recently so the spanner and lump hammer whallops got them moving. Once I'd got those off the discs had of course fused to the hub. Plusgas and more hammer persuasion. Finally time to wind calipers in....then I realise I can't get my retraction kit in this type of caliper....g-clamps and bits of wood instead will do. Putting it all back together is ok....except the springs require the strength of Hercules and by this time its dark and I'm knackered. Finally get it dropped, torque wheels up and go for a drive.....brakes feel like a bit soft. Good job I've just bought a pressure bleeder. No doubt the bleed screws with be seized.... Even when buy one with a FSH it's still a grind and you wonder if half the garages never did the work that's claimed. Hopefully anyone else doing this has an easier job.

    There are plastic covers underneath the sills. Pop the retaining clips in the middle of the cover out with a flat head screw driver and then remove the covers. This will expose the jacking points.
