    Suggestion: For those school bus pick up/drop off locations that are at stop signs (eg Inverness at Pinehurst) might it not be a good idea for the bus to stop earlier (50 ft?) from the stop sign so that traffic making a right turn onto the stopped street has a chance to recognize that the bus is loading or unloading and not just stopped for traffic? Vehicles making the right turn can’t easily see the red lights or stop sign until almost too late and may assume that the bus is just stopped at the stop sign until traffic clears. Who would be best to hear this suggestion? - JFA

    Everyone at this meeting seems to be just fine with US going back to school regardless of the DATA!!! I'm sorry, but I'm a teacher in the BREVARD district, and this is not okay with me!!! And many others as well!!! This is just unconscionable and extremely hypocritical!!! Would someone please tell me how DATA IS EXPECTED TO BE THE DRIVING FORCE OF EVERY SINGLE ONE OF OUR ACADEMIC DECISIONS AS TEACHERS, BUT NOT EVEN CONSIDERED WHEN YOU MAKE THE MUCH MORE IMPORTANT DECISION OF OPENING SCHOOLS WITH REGARD TO THE VERY LIVES OF YOUR STUDENTS, YOUR TEACHERS AND OUR FAMILIES??? APPARENTLY OUR LIVES DON'T MATTER!!! For goodness sake!!! Restaurants aren't even opening to full capacity, but you want to cram 25 children into one classroom!!! With or without masks!!! It doesn't matter!!! PLEASE LOOK AT THE DATA--- and do something similar to what Governor Cuomo in New York is doing!!! Please don't open schools until you can do it safely after looking at this CRITICAL DATA!!! Then USE A SIMILAR FORMULA to NY Governor Cuomo's DATA -DRIVEN FORMULA with regard to the reopening of schools & determine whether it is safe to do so!!! Governor Cuomo refuses to "use children as guinea pigs"!!! I am sickened as I listen to this talk about what you will have to do once the schools have a high percentage of this virus incapacitating our staff and making it impossible to keep the school open!!! --How can you ask questions of each other about what you will do then!!!??? This is disgusting!!! How can you make plans on HOW TO BE REACTIVE when you should be far more concerned about being PROACTIVE NOW!!! SHAME ON YOU!!! Please watch this video, and please remember that you will all have to answer to your maker one day with regard to the very lives that you are supposedly trying to protect!!! kzread.info/dash/bejne/on2fs9KBoLCrnMo.html

    My son is 4yrs old and he wears a mask all the time and if I decide to let him go back to school he will be wearing a mask I’m not risking my sons life he has health issues and he is in pre-k I can’t believe that you guys are not going to require masks for pre-k!!!!!! I don’t agree with this at all most of what has been said I don’t agree with the school is being opened to early!!!!! I understand why you guys are doing this but your putting your teachers and students at risk and other people you guys are not thinking!!!!!

    I have been told by a work comp adjuster that there is no way to definitely determine that covid came from the workplace because you can pick it up “just stepping out your front door” so how is it you are expecting to cover sick workers with work comp when you can’t prove it undeniably came from work?

  • @katelynparrott4004

    Melissa Sausaman I’m sorry if it didn’t come off like that!! I’m also a teacher, that’s exactly what I’m talking about. We couldn’t trace it back to our students because we can’t force them to take a test

  • @melissatallent7853
    @melissatallent78534 жыл бұрын

    Katelyn Parrott Oh I got you but regardless, even if a student was positive, because of the long incubation period and how easy to pick it up, they can’t prove you got it from that student so there is no work comp protection with this

    It was. Most of us literally cheated our way through the last 2 months, learning nothing and putting no effort into anything. We need schools to open physically, 5 days a week, full hours. If people dont want to go, then thats fine. But I refuse to have my senior year taken from me and my classmates.

    @@freedhoelay5953 As a student going into their senior year I REFUSE online learning. It was a terrible disaster and most of us just cheated our way through it using Google and other sources. If you are afraid of your child contracting this virus with an extremely high survivability rate (especially for our age) then YOUR kid can do "Distance learning." How I choose to complete my education has no effect on you and should be none of anyones business. Schools MUST be opened, full hours, 5 days a week, but people can choose whether to show up or do online school. I refuse to have my last year of educatiom be taken from me due to a false narrative based on politics and control.

  • @freedhoelay5953

    I agree but my terse comment wouldn't reveal my sarcasm. Point is if zero risk is what people want then keep them home. Otherwise let people live their lives with whatever risk they choose. Online learning is great for tricks and tips but it can't approach an education.

    If you would suspend MORE by using zero tolerance instead of putting children on ridiculous behavior plans then the behavior would get a lot better. Go back to the past when there was zero tolerance and there was very little problems with discipline. It's common sense. When you give a child stickers, stuffed animals, candy, send them to the art room for fun or to the guidance counselor to shred papers instead of giving them a suspension they will continue to misbehave to get those rewards. Then their peers misbehave because they want those rewards. I saw it with my own eyes when I taught at BPS. I have heard from many teachers now you only allow 10 suspensions a year. Even if a child brings a knife, gun, bites a teacher, kicks a teacher, etc. if they are beyond 10 suspensions they get no suspension. Some of these things should be automatic expulsion. Things aren't going to change until you make the front office a scary place instead of making it friendly. Principals even tell children who misbehave come with me you're not in trouble!
